Don't get me started on this one. I am constantly arguing with neighbours over this. I've taken note of speicific vehicles who I know where the owner lives, and if I find one of them in my space I will politely ask them not to do it again. In for a penny, in for a pound. Some roads down near the station are now free for all zones, It's disgraceful in residential zones that outsiders can come park up for the day and bugger off again. As for parking etiquette, if you catch someone parking in an antisocial manner, confront them immediately. Louisa.

This existential crisis makes the Michael Foot leadership and subsequent SDp/Liberal pact look like a cosy trip to the seaside for the Labour in comparison to its present woes. If Andrea Eagle is the best they have to offer as a replacement for Corbyn, this it is likely they are looking for the next Kinnock to guide them back into sensible opposition until a better candidate takes them to an election victory many years down the line. I can see them being in the wilderness for at least a decade, if they even remain as one. Very depressing for democracy. Louisa.

As a child I always went to Leysdown or Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey. But places like that area probably not very fashionable nowadays. I can't recall if it had a sandy beach or not. I would hazard a guess at it being unlikely. Louisa.

Grok the specific path I refer to does indeed have a cold patch, I've too come across this. In fact there are a few of them. Not sure if they can be explained my the shade of trees and micro fluctuation in temperature at designated spots. It is rather unsettling though, regardless of why it happens, and sometimes animal instinct can kick in and take over. It's happened more than once with me, but never involving a visual apparition. It most certainly was unsettling rendelharris, and I am interested in all possible explanations so please fire them away- happy to have an answer on this. I have tried to do some Google research but I think friends of Nunhead are my best bet on this one. Depending on religious belief, the soul is indeed the divine everlasting element of a human (or in some cases other animals too) life, and Hauntings are often reported when the divine spirit is unable to move into the next life or plain of existence (heaven if you like). Based on that narrative, I think this would have come under the ghost category, an imprint on time replaying itself like a broken record. Louisa.

I've been back. In answer to some questions posed. The image did not move no, but it was most certainly in a hunched over position, almost like praying or crying? To address the point about the Muslim burial plot in Nunhead Cemetery, no it was not in that 'section', that is over the over side of the old derelict chapel. But I did take that on board initially hence my apprehension about posting here, I knew it may attract some sceptical responses. I will contact 'friends of Nunhead cemetery' to see if any known folklore tales of apparitions have been reported. On my return to the exact same spot I did not see this figure or anything resembling it, the area was most certainly just greenery, nothing resembling a black & white habit or nun's outfit or anything of that nature. However, I do take the earlier point that my eye could have been unconsciously elsewhere and the retina may have taken an imprint on my retina. But, having said that, I was not in any bright sunlight and my glare was fixed on the same area for a considerable enough amount of time to determine if it was about to vanish, and it was very clear to begin with but began fading in an almost smoke like glaze. It sent a shiver down my spine I'm not afraid to say. Otta makes an interesting point. If it is a ghost and defies all known scientific logic on this topic, and the caveat that it was a dead nun, why is her soul not at rest? A committed godly soul rejected by the almighty? Why? Louisa.

Foxy, if you ask any spirit medium about this topic they will tell you something similar. Apparently 'psychic training' involves closing your eyes and allowing thoughts to come in, however peculiar or unrelated to anything you may recognise. Now whether or not you believe such thoughts are coming from dead relatives, guardian angels or spirit guides etc is another matter. But I do think it is no coincidence that people can often see and hear things which are relevant to those around them, and it is necessarily as clear cut as every single person who experiences these images is a fraud or out to con people. Many spirit mediums do this stuff for the love of it and don't charge to give people 'readings'. In my logical mind I saw a person, with the appearance of a nun, in traditional clergy costume standing over a grave. It was early evening and light, there is no way I was imagining any of this. However, upon its disappearance I did then start to doubt my own logic. In going back there this afternoon with a friend to the same spot to see if there is any way I could possibly have misplaced a nearby object at a certain angle, just to satisfy my own sanity more than anything else. Louisa.

If you stand where you had > stood, does the place look the same? Not been back since, but I am absolutely certain of what I saw. It was a person, if somewhat distorted and faded. I didn't take my eyes off of this figure and it literally just... Vanished. In front of me. Louisa.

I went for an evening stroll around Nunhead cemetery on Friday, around 6.30pm, on the path that leads past the old chapel and down towards the left onto one of the many routes cutting through. I've often done this route especially in summer on a nice warm evening. Nice and bright, not exactly verging on darkness. After passing various dog walkers, I came upto the fork in the narrow lane, and glanced to my right in the direction of what I can only describe as some beautiful monuments and in the undergrowth (quite a way in, probably 25/30 feet away) I saw what I can only describe as some sort of figure resembling a nun. The figure was stood looking down at something, close to a headstone which was almost exclusively surrounded by bushes and brambles. I kept my eye fixed on this for a good twenty seconds, possibly longer and it literally disappeared in front of me, faded if you like. I had not been drinking, most certainly had plenty of sleep beforehand and was not going around there to look for anything other than a nice evening stroll. If it were a person, surely they would have remained in sight seeing as I was fixed in the same position? I've told a few friends about this and they are all rather sceptical and seem to think I've lost the plot. Can anyone else please stop me from doubting my own sanity and confirm whether they've seen anything similar in this place? Found absolutely no documented support for any such sightings online, and I am a big fan of Nunhead cemetery and have never experienced anything like this before. The person/figure was of average height, and there was no face visible, but it/they were almost certainly wearing a nun's habit and it was evidently clear as day to my eyes at least. Louisa.

The way it's going with Southern trains more people will be selling up and moving north of London to get a reliable and regular commuting home for London. Louisa.

Foxy, having seen the photograph provided it looks to me like a fungal/bacterial infection called 'Cellulitis'. A treatment of antibiotics would be the best course of action if that were the case, but surely a doctor in A&E would be able to recognise such a common condition? Hence my apprehension on giving you a firm diagnosis, I am no doctor! Purely based on past experience it does look very familiar to me as this condition. Have a read up on this NHS website and let us all know if any of these symptoms ring any bells. http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Cellulitis/Pages/Introduction.aspx Louisa.

*Bob* back in the day we could keep lame threads going for 6/7 pages, without drawing breath. You of all people should never underestimate the power of a ridiculous and overrated thread to spill over into personal arguments, petty squabbling and embarrassingly entertaining drivel. So, on that note, when is our next cyber battle due to commence? I reckon we could top this thread length with a much less controversial topic. What do you reckon? Louisa.

Seabag absolutely correct. I have allowed the emotional post-vote response to sink in, and I have no regrets about my repositioning on this one. The facts (as warned by numerous people from remain) have already started to come true. Whether the extent of those factual outcomes are as bad as some predit, I don't think any of us can possibly judge. But there is a clear and consise basis for a noticeable and happening, negative knock on effect of brexit. On the other side of the argument, all we have seen is 'not me guv' style politics, with resignations and backsliding of the most excruciating kind. I do hope and pray we come through any negative outcomes, but to deny they are/will happen is very head in sand. Some people on this forum it seems, are not willing to admit defeat. Louisa.

All it's really showing is the sensible majority of the electorate in the middle, are seeing the Labour Party being held hostage by a fringe movement on the far left, supported by a bunch of radicals from various protest movements who obtained membership for three quid so they could scream loudly and get nothing achieved. He is unelectable in the same way Michael Foot was unelectable in the 80's. History repeating itself, can you not see that? He is appealing only to a sizeable chunk of members and no one else. The PLP recognise this, and don't want to be non-effective forever, it's bad for the party, it's bad for the country and it's bad for democracy. Louisa.

Tiresome party politics. A deluded metro-socialist who wants to be in charge of a protest group, with no intention whatsoever of winning a general election. Louisa.

Anglicised names have been inflicting fatal wounds on various languages for decades now. The French have tried their hardest to stop it, but at the end of the day a Croque Monsieur is a cheese and ham toastie. Get over it France. Louisa.

There is a clear and present hit to the UK economy as a result of brexit. The percentages and consequences of this hot vary widely depending on who you ask or what you judge it by historically, but no one could possibly begin to suggest the economy hasn't taken a hit. Even the most optimistic economic outlooks suggest a shallow recession later this year and early into next year. We need to hope and pray a new PM is able to negotiate in a sensible manner, one which limits the collateral damage by as much as is possible under the awful circumstances. Louisa.

Jeremy, the former Iceland building was a unique example of 1960's architecture. The petruding brickwork in a balustrade style, leading upto the angled rectangular windows were quite one off, particularly for that era and style of build in and around suburban London. The noteworthy glazed bricks leading upto the windows were certainly unique in that style of architecture too, never seen anything like it anywhere else. Seems a terrible loss when I look at what's been done to it now. Louisa.
