  1. *bob* you don't know how right you are - I used to come on here for my daily dose of swoon - and now I have to leer at the poor postman as I don't got no other candy
  2. You're probably right BB - and it doubtless serves me right that I've never really got round to getting involved with real life forum activities and now everyone's getting p*ssed off and drifting off. Note to self for future: carpe diem Anyway, I suspect that this thread is becoming just as interminable and tedious as some of the ones people (including myself) have complained of. I would just suggest that when posting, that forumites give some thought to their fellow posters - cliquiness, whether old-school and self-congratulatory, or arriviste and brash, can be off-putting and quickly kill a thread, as the original point gets lost in a whirl of "you're so marvellous" "no you are"s or "you're a w@nker" "no you are"s. I used to be more fun than this. When did I start being so fecking worthy? Sheesh. Edited for reasons of turning into a tedious @rse.
  3. Just brilliant! Why does this never happen when I nip in for my paper (or early hours dirty snacks)?
  4. Thanks Sue, probably quicker just to order them online but will have a peruse at the weekend and see what's what. (if you are looking for some, these are what I found )
  5. Hey Sue, or anyone else who's been in, happen to know whether this new ethical footwear concept includes converse-style trainers? There are some nice Ethletic ones that I've seen that if I can buy locally rather than send off for I will, but not sure if I'll get there before the weekend and there's an added sense of urgency now my last pair of non-ethical plimsolls have completely worn through.
  6. AnnaJ and Sean, spot on. Tony my dear, what I'm reading is not schadenfreude, it's playground insults. I like a bit of wit with my banter. I do like edgy, honest I do - I've got a Bill Hicks dvd and everything - but what's been happening on here lately has been more like hitting the girl you fancy in the playground to get her to notice you. So I was suggesting that you guys might want to get a room to get it out of your systems once and for all: a little never hurt anyone.

Yes I have - funny how some conversations just go round and round and round and round and round.... It's the best image I can think of to represent this homoerotic d*ck waving that seems to be the current theme. Perhaps you should all just get together and touch willies and then we can move on.
  8. Now Mikecg, it's this very notion that sex is in some way naughty that prevents you and the dog and the wolf and Tony making like Oliver Reed and Alan Bates and getting it all out in the open in front of a lovely roaring fire.

Or am I just presuming? Man, who do I have to sleep with to be in the know on these things? For my part, I'm less offended by language than disappointed and bored that the level of wit has sunk beneath that of Dave's continuity announcers (oh and the very excellent Cobra sponsorship ads on the same channel)
  10. Well I shall be gracing it with my custom, but sadly not til next Thursday (very excited about the whole spooky stories thing - can someone please go in and keep it open until then
  11. Tony, I offer my own experience as a counter to your argument. My ex, who happens to be black, and of afro-caribbean descent, was quite happy to receive shoulder rubs in the sauna from men he believed to be gay. Now you might argue that that merely suggests that I'm in terrible denial (and I wouldn't blame you). Whereas I feel that if I were to follow your argument, I would take this to mean that all black people are egotistical indolent sybarites. If you're to make a considered argument, citing one example of a forum and one comment from your jamaican ladyfriend doesn't constitute strong evidence. Going back to the point Sean made several hundred posts ago, there may be something cultural at work if all your evidence is anecdotal from people who move in your circle.

Sean, I love you even more - you are second in my affections only to the very fabulous, funny, angry and not-unhandsome Ben Goldacre. Everyone should be prescribed a weekly dose of Goldacre and stop fretting about broccoli giving them cancer or the perfect equation for a sexy Marilyn Monroe wiggle when they walk (merci a Veet I think). We're all going to die of something at some point. I fully intend to do so having eaten and drunk much deliciousnes en route.
  13. Yeah PGC, I've heard that too - and it does make sense - although helpfully I can't cite any evidence to back it up. But I think for that reason, helping kids at that stage, to go on and lead successful lives, can only do the community at large the power of good.
  14. I think the project louisiana touched on, Kids Company, run by Camilla Batmanghelidjh does absolutely amazing work, and anyone wanting to so something for the community could do a lot worse than help them out, helping out disenfranchised kids. You can help out by becoming a mentor to a kid who needs it, giving a regular donation, donations in kind (they help set kids up with decent homes so need stuff like bedding, clothes, toiletries etc), helping to refurbish one of those decent homes, raising money by climbing foreign mountains, or helping out with school and community projects. A friend also recently recommended Springboard to me - they help promote literacy in children. Don't have personal experience of them, but she said the work they do is fantastic.

Without wanting to hijack this thread, if you do work in a very similar field, then you'll know that some companies have carried on regardless - some big (because they're stoopid and think no one will catch them) and some small (because they don't know about the legislation - see the Wanted, offered, recommended threads for examples of that). Anyway, back to the point, *bob*, you might be right from a comedy point of view, but for the ladies of ED who might actually WANT to have sex rather than know their fella's in the shed tending to himself and his specialist publication, my vote would go for fancy pants over old-school authenticity every time. All beside the point of course, because they're not coming.

Quite right Mrs F - Penk don't you realise that in a world of consumer generated content, forums are a cheap place to get genuine opinion. And you're also quite right about Myla - I've got my eye on their new Sabar.

  19. subtzy, please don't get angry and sad. Instead please instead read Mark's post directly above your own - no one was being serious. It's a humorous take on the SE15 / SE22 divide - you might argue that this thread isn't the place for it, but for all you people taking it seriously I would ask, "seriously..???"

When hand crafted from highly polished jade, dildos and cock rings really can be not only practical but quite beautiful - something you'd be proud to display on any upper middle class mantelpiece
  21. I get my naughty undies from Coco de Mer - they'd be more than welcome in my book

  24. I like this thread - little grebe just sounds nice doesn't it?

    OHMYGOD!

dulwichmum, if bouncing athletically through Dulwich Park, being shouted at and generally ordered about by a firm young man is not for you then I don't know who it is for. Well actually me perhaps. and I can confirm that yes, it is possible to exercise in a pair of Spanx, having done same when enamoured of a certain gym body - those man-made fibres make you sweat off a few more pounds too
