  1. Thanks Sat Nav (Thomas Thomas - Tom Tom) - ha ha, I crack myself up!!
  2. Chez - get yourself on the bike! There are a few quiet routes from SE5/SE22 area to LB... I've recently started doing it and: a) It's free b) It's quicker, and c) It's exercise. If you put half of what you were paying monthly onto a PAYG Oyster you'll have more than enough for the social use of the tube.
  3. Quite obviously most pubs will have the England game on... but does anyone now of any pubs in the area that have the ability to show 2 games and would show the Scotland game? Cheers.
  4. Not bad for a one off visit. The view of London is quite magnificent.

  6. Christ this sounds awful, I was there just 15 minutes before hand. I do hope they all make a quick and full recovery... sounds to me like the young boy may have been driving without license/insurance etc?? Was the driver caught?

Maybe I'll give the next pedestrian that walks out infront of me a "bluddy good kicking" huh. what a nob.
  8. Does anyone on the forum have any knowledge of this? I want to investigate the possibility of sound proofing and then discuss with our upstairs neighbours. Through no fault of their own, I expect it's the age of the house what with it being a Victorian terrace, when they walk around, the noise is extremely loud. It has to be one of the hardest things to discuss with a neighbour, especially as we are very good friends with them, and we've bottled out of it to date!! Are there any specialists out there? Has anyone used one before?

    Scotland?

So this boycott of Scotland and all things Scottish by the Americans.... are they going to give up: Postage Stamps? Anaesthetics? Antisepis? Artificial Diamonds? Reaping Machines????!!! Latent Heat? Buicks? Chemical Bonds? Penicillin? The Decimal Point? Microwave Ovens? Radar? Breech Loading Rifles (we all know they love their guns)? Oh... and their beloved US Navy! The list could go on and on..... and yes, I did Google it.

It was a qualifying tie to GET INTO the Champions League!!!!
  11. MrB - My route is down Dunstans Road, along Peckham Rye, down Rye Lane, Left onto Peckham High Street then an immediate right into that wee side street (is it Melow Road?), then a quick bunny hop across the pavement onto Sumner Road, then up Sumner Road, left onto Trafalgar Avenue.... then left onto Old Kent Road (this is the busiest part but you're only on it for about 500 yards, and you can avoid if you want), then right onto Duntan Road, then left onto Grange Road, then right onto Tower Bridge road, over the bridge and then you're in the city... for you getting to Monument would be easy from there. 5 miles door to door for me, 30 mins at an easy pace. And a fairly quiet traffic route. I've only been doing it for about 6 weeks but it is great. Saves ?50 a month on bus travel, saves sitting on a bus for 2 hours + every day, and gets a little exercise. All that and I've only been hit by a car once :))
  12. That's why I asked where he worked, because if it was near where I work (I work in the city), I could suggest a fairly traffic free route if he was considering cycling... simples.
  13. Where do you work Mr Ben? I've recently started riding to work (ED to The City) and have found a pretty good, traffic quiet route. Stays away from Elephant and London Bridge!!
  14. That's not a bad result. Arsenal took it easy!!!!!!
  15. Money the bookies will get with loads of Timmy placing money on Celtic to win.
  16. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23733703-details/Three+in+hospital+after+bicycle%2C+bus+and+motorbike+collision/article.do There is a link to the story, thankfully the injuries do not seem that bad.
  17. Saw that this morning. Chucked off the 40 at LB as it was already closed... walked across on the St Paul's side of the bridge and past the bus with the screens around it... could see through the bus that about 6 paramedics were working on someone and a fireman with a hydraulic lift... possibly to lift the bus/bike off a person?? Yuo could tell from the look on the firemen and policemen's faces that behind that screen lay an awful, awful scene. If they have survived, I wish them a speedy recovery. And to the woman who was huffing and puffing and calling it a discrace that the bridge was closed and you had to walk 500 yards... I hope you feel ashamed of yourself.

  19. caught a glimpse of what seemed like a new curry house opening tonight... green front with loads of balloons etc outside... but then I thought it might be the coriander, with a new front????
