  1. Please be aware that Louisa has been known to post messages that are merely meant to antagonise, see her other posts. I suggest that you ignore her and her message.
  2. No vouchers received on East Dulwich Road

  4. Nice post to put under the title "The people who work at Grace & Favour are fab" Spangles30 but it seems typically negative. Every time I've been in Grace & Favour, which to be honest isn't very often i.e. only on special occasions, they've been perfectly friendly and helpful.
  5. Look a Google Map of Baltimore with the Wire places marked on it, change it to a satellite image and you can zoom into Marlo's playground meeting spot, or see the Pit (without the sofa) brilliant
  6. oh go on then, see you there about 6:30

    Ask Admin

I called it and it says that the extension's not being answered. I know how to change the number that appears (I set it but can't remember why I put that one, I think it was an old Skype number I had) so I'll make it something else.
  8. Please can people stop replying to Louisa and her "class" comments, she always drop them in to any discussion about buying things in the area and and you can't logically discuss things with her. I'd suggest ignoring her flaming comments. I went to BMC and had a cup of tea there about three weeks ago which was fine. [edited once]
  9. Clerkenwell, about 25 minutes by scooter.
  10. it even has its own council. Bromley Council tax is greater than Southwark's.
  11. We visited Locale last weekend and here are my thoughts, sorry they're not professional or flowery but I'm not a reviewer by trade as will become obvious. The online booking system is great, simply enter your details and you get sent an email and text with the restaurant's details, handy if you need to call them to say you're running late :-$. The ambience was good, it was buzzing and busy that night and the decor is an improvement from the Green (especially the window). We shared a meat platter starter, nothing special, two types of meat, a bit of fennel and a piece of Italian bread. I had the rump of lamb with roasted vegetables which was tasty meat and lots of vegetables however that was it. To be honest it was the sort of thing that I would cook at home, roast some veg (stick a couple of tomatoes in there as well), grill some meat and that's it. My better half had the very flavoursome baked Sea Bass which came in a bag with a few edible mussels and clams. Desserts were good quality and fairly priced, probably the highlight of the meal: "Fondante al Cioccolato: Warm chocolate fondant filled with crushed hazelnuts, warm chocolate sauce, served with mascarpone cream" and "Affogato: Cinnamon ice ream, frangelico liqueur and a shot of espresso". Both recommended. I like the fact that a service charge is not automatically added, the service was pleasant and attentive and only one mistake (we had to wait a while then ask for the liqueur and coffee for the Affogato when we realised it wasn't coming). Conclusion - It came across as a restaurant that sells Italian food rather than an Italian restaurant, as has been mentioned before this comes across in the wine list. I'm not an Italian restaurant expert but having been to Italy for the first time last month I was hoping for some of that Italian-ness to come across. It didn't. Generally I can only say it was ok, sorry I can't expand more on that but it was just ok. Would I go back? Yes but not straight away, I would have something different for a main and hope that they had sprinkled some Italian magic dust in the kitchen to give the food a bit of a lift.
  12. Louisa, it would be great if you would please start another thread in the Lounge about what you think the "real" issues that the council should deal with are as I am genuinely interested. In the meantime we're all wondering what the council said when you brought up the issue of them wasting time and money on the fence, please let us know.
  13. This was announced by the council back in December, see here http://www.friendsofgoosegreen.org.uk/index.php?mact=News,cntnt01,detail,0&cntnt01articleid=1&cntnt01dateformat=%25d%20%25B%2C%20%25Y&cntnt01returnid=34 They are removing the fence for a trial period of 6 months.
  14. or get a train to Streatham Common or West Norwood and then change to Clapham Junction. Takes about half an hour.
  15. 34. Why oh why are people of a different class to me living round here? What gives them the right to bring their influences to the place where I've lived for nearly a year now and start changing it? It used to be paradise round here until they came along with their "outside" ways, apparently.
  16. Hi if you click on the quote icon (which is just above the text box where you type in your message) that'll ask you for the name of the person you're quoting, then you type (or copy and paste) you message between the brackets.
  17. I've just come back from Dulwich DiY (next to White Stuff) and they have an array of moth repellents, sprays etc and they have cedar balls too. I went for the Rentokill moth killer strips myself. Also got some of those vacuum bags that you put your clothes for storage in, suck out the air and you're left with a surprisingly flat bag. 18. Have you notified the authorities about this breach of heath and safety Libra Carr or are you going to wait until there's an accident? Did you tell the manager about the unstable chairs? I have to say you're making quite a substantial allegation there about a business and I hope you can back it up (i.e. that you have tested the slipperiness of the flooring) should you have to. Of course you could be jesting and trying to make a point that (you think) people are trying to close local businesses with their comments and criticism. Strange way to do it.
  19. We're still thinking about it I just need to test out some of the forum's setting in a quiet moment (which are pretty rare these days) to see how it works. Keep badgering us and I'll get it done.
  20. what's ARP?

    a joke

  22. Alan, you say that people saying 'Si Mangia is way better' is a type of playground praise but your contribution was simply "For Italian try Caravaggio on Camberwell Church St." which isn't exactly telling us about a positive experience you have had is it? As pointed out it's not a restaurant review site, just local people telling of their experiences and I think having a go at them for their quality of reviews is rather elitist, confusingly so when your "review" was just eight words suggesting another restaurant. 23. Has the sun just come out? Oh no, Louisa's walked in the room.
  24. There was a sign in the window of the old gallery/frame shop a couple of weeks ago saying "staff wanted - contact [email protected]" so I guess it's more than just a rumour.
  25. Did they get their planning permission for a wine bar?
