  1. home-made rye sourdough, thickly sliced, Norfolk dapple cheese, generous pinch of white pepper. How do you like yours?

I'm with AQ (a poster I would never accuse of not being welcoming to new posters either). Agree it is tedious when people pretend to be new when they clearly aren't.

    craft beer

ah I have just noticed that this beer is 14.4% ABV (4.8 UK units in a 330ml bottle). it will probably be very strong and pretty rank (as you say). Last time I fall for packaging, it was quite pricey too.

  5. I thought the only reason vegans won't eat honey is because it's produced by an animal, same as cheese, milk etc (even though none died to make it). After reading this thread, I really want to see Bee movie now!

    craft beer

What is 'barley wine style' beer and why is it suddenly a 'thing'? Anyone? I bought one by Hardknott but haven't tried it yet. Ashamed to say it was the packaging that lured me in.

A bit disappointing actually. :( oh what a shame that is your experience, disappointing indeed. I found it completely the opposite but then again, things are a changing around these here parts, or so I hear.
  8. on noooo...not the monkey puzzle, ED will be unrecognisable soon! you do know that whenever you walk past one of these fine trees you have to remain completely silent. just hope hibbs is reading this thread.
  9. "Scotrail free wifi. Slower than your 3G. Only connects when you have 3G signal. In short, use your 3G. I'd be terrible at adverts." - from twitter. Well, I found it amusing.
  10. Quids uproots family in move to battersea shocker, can see the headlines now :))
  11. the tree stump on sale for 98 dollars is believable :)) another sign. Your local corner shop is called 'General Store' 'Provisions' or such like, painted in the same shade of sludge as everyone's front door (greige I think) and goods are sold in baskets or fruit crates.

You made breakfast for Mrs McCorkindale after making her bed? That's a service.
  13. Impressive. Skill. Hats off to quids.
  14. What's this? Quids missing a 100 on his own thread. Losing your touch mate. Edit: clearly I can't count up to 4 :P
  15. Did you find someone to join up with? A random group of us used to get together on the occasional Sunday for roast dinner so if you're gonna do it, ED is certainly the place to be. It's good fun trying out all the pub offerings in the name of research too.
  16. Yodelling is exceptionally more irritating than bagpipes will ever be. Mind you if your only experience of bagpipes is an unaccompanied, out of practice and out of tune piper trying to make a quick buck at a tourist spot then I can see why you'd dislike them. Yodelling is right up there, along with Gregorian chanting and tubular bells. A frightful dirge.
  17. Those knees!!! My eyes!!
  18. Seabag has reminded me about that craze for Grolsch bottle tops back in the 90s. I'm dying to know what this Stella 'Artoris' stuff is?
  19. two things quids. firstly - we are living in a time of globalisation now. The world has become more homogenEous, we can all see the same things, experience the same things, (foods, drinks, fashion, make-up) simultaneously. secondly - you're older now, so you don't get it. and as the article says, the kids don't want you to 'get' it/them.

    Be scared.....

Aha...wondered what Salmond was doing after losing the referendum...
  21. The Fall. Dire.
  22. yeah I think you are right steveo, its way too small at this stage to think about employing someone to do it. just thought it would be good to get someone who is an expert in creating brand awareness, I'm not. thanks x
  23. Apologies in advance for the boring thread...just want to know if anyone has experience of hiring a Social Media company to handle that side of things for a small business. e.g. setting up Facebook, twitter etc If so, what would you expect in return from them? How would you measure their performance? Would you expect the company to provide you with analytics, data on a weekly basis, how would you know how many tweets/posts/followers/likers/blogs is reasonable to expect? Are the company only going to be as good as the brief you give them? eg. to increase sales! hoping to hear back from anyone who can help, eg. what would you expect for your money and what would be a reasonable monthly rate? or even a pointer to a helpful website would be appreciated. thank you x
  24. seabag - can I ask you if you have found any drawbacks to using kash flow? i like the sound of it. was it a smooth process to integrate data from the system you used previously? ta.
  25. oops posted too soon, meant to say agree wtih all the others. I find I drink less cold drinks and more hot drinks (mainly strong tea) when not drinking booze. You soon get used to it and I am sure you end up having better sleeps as a result. what works for me: sometimes I like a chilled non-alcoholic beer like Bavaria, mostly its lime & soda water/tonic water/fizzy water. hate cola too but have a weakness for vanilla coke if i can get it. I have to train my brain to not see a glass of beer or wine as a 'treat' in the evening. I find it works until you watch something on TV where someone pours a satisfying glass of wine or you hear the thud of ice against the glass and wish you had g&t. good luck otta.
