I am number 6 ! Oh sorry I am Spartacus 😆 In pubs maximum group sizes are 6 people, and with social distancing you can see multiple unrelated / un-associated groups sharing the sane space so in theory as long as people don't abuse the system and ruin it for everyone else, pubs and restaurants should be fine. But if you are concerned don't go and leave your space for others !

It strikes me that the more voices and support that the petition https://www.change.org/p/helen-hayes-help-us-to-stop-the-road-closures-in-east-dulwich gets, the more vocal the anti car brigade are on here Is it that they are seeing the tide turning in the opposite direction and that they are no longer the group shouting the loudest ? Looks like, at present, the petition has nearly a thousand signatures which is about 8% of the total population of East Dulwich (based on 2011 census details) and considering it's focusing only on one small area that's pretty convincing support against the road closures in my opinion

Scenario three Same as scenario one but necessary because you are disabled, elderly or have difficulty walking through some other condition. Sadly the measures being implemented are restrictive for the above groups and may even be against the equality act 2010 (although I'm not a lawyer) Do you really want to exclude them just so young and fit people can walk and cycle ? Before you reply , "There but for the grace of God goes thee" is worth considering!

Have the 1 in 7 stats identified what these under 1km journeys are for ? If they are, for example, family shopping runs to the supermarket then they are possibly justified. The information behind the stats is just as important as the stats themselves.

What's with the massive fireworks happening

Maybe it's the council celebrating mugging off the car drivers with all these road changes If we're really lucky Peter John was the model for the Guy ! -
Hi I've just tried accessing the forum on an iPad retina 3 (old tech I know) and a couple of days ago it was fine but today I get "Safari cannot open this page because it could not establish a secure connection to the server" Has anything changed ?

The good thing about this change of heart from Shapps is that councils will now need to consult on changes rather than dictate to their voters It may still result in the same changes occurring but at least people will feel that they've had their input to the process.

Can we bulldoze Tooley street to see if that helps ? Strangely predictive puts Toilet in when I type Tooley, maybe it knows something we don't 😆

Rockets Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > As my wife so beautifully put it..."that's the > problem with this council, they dangle the carrot, > you take a bite and then they smack you round the > back of your head with a suede". The real problem is that they dangle a tasty carrot on front of a minority to get them to bite and endorse the schemes whilst burying the rest of the population to make manure to grow the walloping suede If there was a fair and just consultation first backed up with real world statistics I suspect people wouldn't vote the way the carrot munchers did. But we will never know as this council is so democratic (not)

So here is a conundrum We have one group saying traffic is terrible Another saying its fine But what we don't have is official pre-implementation stats around the area and proper monitoring of the scheme both in the immediate vicinity and on roads effected by it. Sadly Southwark didn't do the pre stats which means they can't show if the scheme is a success or not and what happens to the displaced traffic. I think a lot of people on both sides would be happier if it had been implemented in a controlled way with the correct monitoring before, during and after implementing. Without the correct monitoring and control Southwark only has hearsay on how successful it is as they can't show stats for the before situation taken over a controlled period of time (not just one busy week) nor will they have enough information to prove evaporation and not displacement. Without it people will always be miffed as a result and can challenge the methodology and results.

Anyone driving their kids > to school shouldn't be allowed to live in London. Controversy could reverse that and say anyone living in London shouldn't be allowed to have kids. 😱 Strangely whilst I don't agree with it as a statement it has the potential to reduce the population in London, thus reducing the number of journeys needed to be undertaken by cars. The Chinese practiced birth control allowing only one child per couple, maybe that's the lesson we should take from communism. Reduce the population to reduce car journeys 😆 (just don't tell the council as it will be on the next council agenda)

The airline industry wants us to be able to test at airports to avoid quarantining so that they (the airlines) can start to encourage more passengers to fly. Obviously this isn't a tested strategy in this country yet and there is a concern that rates will increase as travelling increases. Just look at countries where this sort of scheme is already in place. In my opinion, the reason London and other major airport hubs were the first to see high infection rates was unintentionally down to mass transit of the virus into the country via airlines. My opinion but it's a fairly reasonable assumption. Should we move from the 14 day quarantine regime to testing at the airports ?

Johnl I think the engine running in stationary traffic refers to sitting in the queues created by the scheme, not people just sitting in a stationary vehicle at the side of the road. With older cars, stopping and starting the engine often results in higher pollution levels then leaving it running for the sane period. Obviously this isn't the same for modern cars with auto stop / start

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?

redpost Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Spartacus, perhaps you should live up to your name > and start one? From past experience when I started a revolution, the Appian Way leading to Tooley Street will be littered with crucified car drivers. Although it does appear to be Southwark Councils master plan to crucify us all anyway.

Trust your gut feeling, you already sound like you are questioning the purchase and the ask for a non refundable deposit is questionable as what happens if she decides to take a higher offer I know what I would do if it was me, wait for something better to come along and hope prices drop as they are currently predicting. But totally your choice, and you need to think with your mind, not your heart to see if it's really the right decision. Remember, and a lesson from history, back in the late 80s early 90s a lot of people bought anything they could get their hands on as prices were rising quickly then it all crashed and they were left with negative equity on shot holes (deliberate misspelling)

Has anyone started a petition against the road closures yet and lack of pre and post monitoring ? From what I'm seeing on here a lot of people borough wide would sign it !

Peter John decides to bring phase 4 of the healthy streets project forward and installs a fort in Dulwich Village "when the floods come we can tax them when using boats to get into the village" he tells the council chamber and his trusty side kick Pirate Jimbo

I wonder if people like Piers will be still shouting conspiracy if they actually caught Covid ? Or would they claim they were deliberately infected by the powers that be !

I've been involved in yet another accident ,careless me, and had great fun asking the real person at the other end "are you my mummy?" (Echos of doctor who came to mind) followed by "can you tell me where I left my toy car?" Strangely they hung up .. most disappointed in the resilience and perseverance of these people
