Today is the first day of a week of rain and showers according to accuweather on my phone Will be fascinating to see how many of the new cyclists are fair-weathered and how much more traffic will be on the streets as little Tarquin or Tamara get driven to school in the rain or so called non essential journeys to the shops are undertaken by car to save getting soaked? The next week will be quite telling on how much traffic has really dissipated and how popular walking or cycling is in the squalid weather.

Makes no sense > whatsoever Just think, you could be travelling to work on Air Force One where one person can spread it to their boss and family 🤔 But agree , that work and travel does present a risk which is why we are now being asked to work from home if we can. A reverse of the thinking a month ago of go to the office if you can. I guess regardless we all have our own part to play in suppressing this virus and flouting the rules because we don't agree with them won't help break the chain.

Sorry I'm sure ! Lol Was Bob trying to ironic in his initial post because if he was then I obviously failed to take it with the pinch of salt he is after. But Alan m , please don't rub salt in to my wounds for missing the gag 😱 as I now feel like I've been asSALTed !

Whilst not quite East Dulwich I received, from one of my network contacts, a copy of a letter sent to the council by two ward panels over the problems experienced with the closure of Rye Lane. It appears that residents are experiencing increases in crime and anti social behaviour as a result and also it highlights the problems created by the lack of emergency services access to Rye Lane and surrounding streets. The council just seem to be ploughing ahead with the changes without considering feedback and concerns from Residents and Businesses.

So that will result in Upland Road being blocked off , traffic then diverting down Underhill Road which will then be blocked off and traffic diverting down Goodrich Road .... Before we know it every side road in Dulwich will either be clogged with traffic or blocked off. Did Grant Shapps say that he would intervene if councils abuse the scheme and introduce restrictions without consultation ? If so how can we get him involved to pause and review what Southwark Council are doing ?
-
Do you mean something like this : https://thisismold.com/object/kitchenware/alessi-pizzico-pinch-of-salt#.X3TiiB7TU0M ? Not sure if it's something you can get locally but I'm sure if you show a local shop this then they can either order one for you or worst case scenario you may have to go online to order it

Looking at the Peckham Rye document, the only route now to get to Nunhead from the Forest Hill Road direction is now to go up Heaton Road then turn onto Consort Road and to Nunhead that way Or turn left onto East Dulwich Road down to the roundabout then back up East Dulwich Road and into Nunhead that way. Talk about adding more traffic congestion to already busy roads. This madness has to stop especially as the solution for the Peckham proposal is to simply put a cycle path on the rye it's self thus keeping cars buses and cycles segregated. But that's not the councils agenda is it.

That's just being paranoid johnl She doesn't need the blue light to listen to you and apparently she talks to your phone behind your back. But being serious, is the palm reader just taking a single company's knowledge of you too far ? Should Amazon be split to prevent it becoming the all seeing organisation knowing everything about each of us ? It is the stuff of a science fiction nightmare movie !
-
Wow I've just read the article on Amazon's new palm scanning technology. BBC News - Amazon One: Palm scanner launched for 'secure' payments https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-54337984 Fairly innocent until you read that they see it being used for all sorts including building security. As well as understanding your online shopping preferences and habits through their site, tools like this, if implemented wider could be used to track you in real time and with their algorithms they can use it to see what other goods and services they can offed you. "You appear to be in Westminster , rather than going to pret let us deliver lunch to you as it is almost the time you normally go out to eat and based on your recent purchases we recommend the all day breakfast sandwich from the Amazon store" Just a bit too much information and power in one organisations hands (if you excuse the pun) for my liking. I thought Alexa was bad enough but this appears to be real scary sci fi territory! What next is my question ?

Sorry I can't help and if you can't find anywhere you will just have to gin and bear it

Can you not get it converted to DVD? Edited to add : I think snappy snaps offer this service in some stores

Watching the news over the last few days , the idiots who partied after pub closing time in central London are possibly going to be the few who ruin it for everyone by forcing the authorities to just say "close all pubs and restaurants full stop" Sad really that a few people don't follow the guidance and cause problems for others.
-
Whilst I respect people's right to protest. Is it fair that those who protested against masks, lock down and vaccines in London today would also expect treatment from the NHS if they catch this so called imaginary (in their eyes) virus?

Sigh The youth of today have no knowledge of things like this : https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/prince-albert-piercings_uk_5ae2e21ee4b055fd7fca9ad5?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAAyKGopQDJK41wE7T56cKAePQZCEsUsKIkSMWDbcYIIUNu9mbuFV7-7XogNQcV5oMYdraEjzB2P_keicKnyNjOBqFhFlccwkgZl3rDz2rUGthjMkcnSAIqRSVozHfIeBEKcE7Ibq8KojfNhHIj53z0Ry9mg_ozOLgYfu_xHvF7W

I thought the councillors had employed officers who were supposed to be experts in these areas ex After all that's what the officers who came to consultations on the CPZ claimed. So whilst no one expects the councillors to be experts, the do have resources they call on internally.

Dogkennelhillbilly Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "the monitoring has been half-hearted at best," > > How do you get to that conclusion? I suspect that because they have no base data taken from before the measures were implemented so it appears that the council are really only playing lip service to monitoring and showing the effects (good or bad) It's a bit like a recent tfl survey that said the majority of (1000) people surveyed are happy with LTNs that's almost as bad as the adverts for hair products (78% of 128 women agree ....) sadly not a conclusive survey. So the issue is a scheme rushed in too quickly, with no base data resulting in massive resentment by those directly effected. If the council do a proper unbiased survey and use pre and post implementation monitoring of schemes then maybe, just maybe people might start to trust them again.

With the potential for Christmas to be different this year because of lockdowns and the virus what things are you not going to miss ? I for one won't miss Christmas Jumper day as it just seems ludicrous grown adults being forced to wear novelty jumpers with Rudolph on them or a Christmas cracker that lights up!

🤔 this is Peckham we are discussing not Pimlico ?😂 With the finCEN document this weekend one hardly thinks foreign investors will be falling over themselves to put money into UK property for a while, but could be wrong and the Russians may well want to invest in property above the smelly butchers of Peckham with a bus lane running through the development !

Dogkennelhillbilly Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Interested to hear how the conspiracy theorists > are going to reconcile "LTNs are driven by > outsiders" with pushing the petition out to taxi > drivers and groups from other areas on Twitter! Maybe , shock horror, it's because taxi drivers not only live here but also need to drop residents off in the area. Possibly no conspiracy at all but simple transfer of information via cab-witter 🤔
