That's just being paranoid johnl She doesn't need the blue light to listen to you and apparently she talks to your phone behind your back. But being serious, is the palm reader just taking a single company's knowledge of you too far ? Should Amazon be split to prevent it becoming the all seeing organisation knowing everything about each of us ? It is the stuff of a science fiction nightmare movie !
-
Wow I've just read the article on Amazon's new palm scanning technology. BBC News - Amazon One: Palm scanner launched for 'secure' payments https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-54337984 Fairly innocent until you read that they see it being used for all sorts including building security. As well as understanding your online shopping preferences and habits through their site, tools like this, if implemented wider could be used to track you in real time and with their algorithms they can use it to see what other goods and services they can offed you. "You appear to be in Westminster , rather than going to pret let us deliver lunch to you as it is almost the time you normally go out to eat and based on your recent purchases we recommend the all day breakfast sandwich from the Amazon store" Just a bit too much information and power in one organisations hands (if you excuse the pun) for my liking. I thought Alexa was bad enough but this appears to be real scary sci fi territory! What next is my question ?

Sorry I can't help and if you can't find anywhere you will just have to gin and bear it

Can you not get it converted to DVD? Edited to add : I think snappy snaps offer this service in some stores

Watching the news over the last few days , the idiots who partied after pub closing time in central London are possibly going to be the few who ruin it for everyone by forcing the authorities to just say "close all pubs and restaurants full stop" Sad really that a few people don't follow the guidance and cause problems for others.

Whilst I respect people's right to protest. Is it fair that those who protested against masks, lock down and vaccines in London today would also expect treatment from the NHS if they catch this so called imaginary (in their eyes) virus?

Sigh The youth of today have no knowledge of things like this : https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/prince-albert-piercings_uk_5ae2e21ee4b055fd7fca9ad5?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAAyKGopQDJK41wE7T56cKAePQZCEsUsKIkSMWDbcYIIUNu9mbuFV7-7XogNQcV5oMYdraEjzB2P_keicKnyNjOBqFhFlccwkgZl3rDz2rUGthjMkcnSAIqRSVozHfIeBEKcE7Ibq8KojfNhHIj53z0Ry9mg_ozOLgYfu_xHvF7W

Shouting through the night in ED

I thought the councillors had employed officers who were supposed to be experts in these areas ex After all that's what the officers who came to consultations on the CPZ claimed. So whilst no one expects the councillors to be experts, the do have resources they call on internally.

Dogkennelhillbilly Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "the monitoring has been half-hearted at best," > > How do you get to that conclusion? I suspect that because they have no base data taken from before the measures were implemented so it appears that the council are really only playing lip service to monitoring and showing the effects (good or bad) It's a bit like a recent tfl survey that said the majority of (1000) people surveyed are happy with LTNs that's almost as bad as the adverts for hair products (78% of 128 women agree ....) sadly not a conclusive survey. So the issue is a scheme rushed in too quickly, with no base data resulting in massive resentment by those directly effected. If the council do a proper unbiased survey and use pre and post implementation monitoring of schemes then maybe, just maybe people might start to trust them again.

With the potential for Christmas to be different this year because of lockdowns and the virus what things are you not going to miss ? I for one won't miss Christmas Jumper day as it just seems ludicrous grown adults being forced to wear novelty jumpers with Rudolph on them or a Christmas cracker that lights up!

🤔 this is Peckham we are discussing not Pimlico ?😂 With the finCEN document this weekend one hardly thinks foreign investors will be falling over themselves to put money into UK property for a while, but could be wrong and the Russians may well want to invest in property above the smelly butchers of Peckham with a bus lane running through the development !

Maybe , shock horror, it's because taxi drivers not only live here but also need to drop residents off in the area. Possibly no conspiracy at all but simple transfer of information via cab-witter 🤔

With the way town centres are evolving due to a mixture of online shopping and now covid driving people to find better ways to shop, then the potential risk is that Peckham will ultimately suffer unless some radical thinking and redevelopment is undertaken. Obviously the former model of business rents from shops is clearly no longer sustainable and the ability to add housing will allow things like cafes , restaurants, bars and coffee shops to move into the area as they will have a ready made audience which in turn will attract more shoppers and a different offer to the area. Peckham Vision raise the question of changes to the character of the area yet no such concern was raised in the past when it changed from the "golden mile" with shops that rivaled Oxford Street to what we have today (there are some amazing pictures of how fantastic it all looked as late as the 60s). Whilst change can be bad, Peckham has long been due a make over to utilise this amazing shopping area in a better way. If businesses change to suit a new demographic, as they did in the past, then opportunities open up for jobs and new businesses can flourish. Remember Eileen and Peckham Vision campaigned against the tram terminal and depot in the town centre, yet another opportunity missed to attract investment and breath life into this tired town centre whilst providing an eco-friendly form of transport. Whilst there are genuine concerns about the development that need to be addressed during the planning stages, we can't let the view from Franks or the question about the number of locals who can afford to rent / buy the properties get in the way of investing in what could be a major vibrant town centre. I'm not advocating not signing the petition, but I am suggesting you think carefully about what is really best for our next door neighbor who has for years been sadly the butt of jokes and poorly invested in. Do you want it to stay as is or do you want to give it the opportunity to burst out like a phoenix and be all that it can ?

Just to be controversial Do we need a mayor at all ? Just think about the layers of bureaucracy that can be peeled away without one. Much like when the GLA was disbanded 🤔

Sorry Bob That's a genuine one. Looks like your tax haven has been raided ! I'll start a just giving page for you to raise enough money to put a file into a cake for you 🤔

How absolutely arrogant and inflammatory is that statement? It's akin to "can everyone stop cycling and walking so cars can rule the roads". The reason there are so many discussions is because it has really divided opinion so needs to be discussed to come to a consensus.

No. As the car was invented in 1886 , I'm not surprised you can't remember being consulted as senility possible accounts for the lack of memory (looking good for a 134 Year old I have to add !)

Any idea how testing at the airport would work as we can just about / almost not cope with testing in the community for those that need it. Imagine if there was the additional pressure of needing to do two tests for everyone arriving in the country (one at the airport and one 5 to 7 days later) It would have been chaos !
