  1. Oh The press release in the first post is 9 years old, she left then went back to the BBC 3 years later ..

I might even start to watch the News again. I assume you are implying that she has the look of a bulldog chewing a wasp on her face when she presents news she doesn't like 😱😆
  3. Damn those fat sparrows, obviously eaten all that excess pasta bought before lock down and thrown out now McDonald's is delivering again.

I saw you buying a human skin face mask in Farmers which I assumed was for Covid till I put 2 and 2 together 😱

  6. Sephiroth Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It's a horrble situation for any government to > face but the notion that noone could have done > better than Johnson beggars belief, frankly Although this discussion is all based on speculation and theory as no one else is actually prime minister so it's easy to point fingers at Boris. If someone else was prime minister my feeling is that they would make just as many , but possibly not the same ones
  7. I love the impartial nature of this thread In an area (and on a forum) that largely voted for labour then of course Boris won't be seen to be doing anything right. But he is being advised by leading scientists, top virologists, experts in their fields and heads of NHS. Some are civil servants but all would be giving exactly the same words of advice regardless of who is in power, be it Tory's , Labour, Lib Dem or the Monster Raving Loony party. Advice is listened to, cabinet, cobra and sage meetings are held where the advisers are invited to speak and yes the government in power then acts (or not) on the advice. Kier has the advantage of hindsight , but let's be honest would he have made the same decisions if Labour won the last GE ? My feeling is possibly as he would have been getting exactly the same advice and the leader of the Tory's would be doing the same to try and bring Labour down. Politics is political after all. The care home issue is a difficult one, the majority are private companies charging an arm and a leg to look after people who are more often than not at the end of life. They have their own procurement people with strong links to the medical and pharmaceutical sectors so why they didn't ask their suppliers for ppe is the real question that should be asked. They are also very experienced with seasonal illnesses in care homes (norovirus, seasonal flu...) where they have isolation and protection procedures. Why weren't they implemented ? Agreed some homes are council run but again they have the same links / contacts and procedures so why were they not better prepared as an organisation ? It may be a very black and white view but it is a question that isn't being asked, instead the media have whipped up a frenzy pointing fingers at the government over care home deaths. The cynical side of me also thinks that there may be a collective sigh of relief by relatives who are no longer paying up to 8 grand a month to have someone looked after because the family couldn't or wouldn't. (Just my opinion here) So my answer to the question is and based on the fact that the advisers and advice given would be the same "yes, as fit as any other PM would be in the same situation of a global pandemic that no one saw coming"
  8. Also it would cause issues for buses and bus users, especially the elderly and disabled Good to see you are thinking out of the box, but leave wacky ideas that will increase traffic flows to the council staff who specialise in stupid ideas IMHO
  9. James Conway are at it again, today notices have appeared on cars around the junction of Upland and Barry roads requesting no parking from today with no prior notice that parking restrictions are being imposed. Not good enough in a period when people are still being asked to stay at home and some residents are on enforced isolation Please sort this sort of p!ss poor behaviour from Conway out !

Oh my, can't believe I'm getting requests for this If you can wait for VJ day I'll do a circuit but no publicity or photos please , I don't want to make a spectacle of myself
  12. Sorry Was I at the wrong end of the street when I streaked ? Hence the need for binoculars ? Oh well better luck during VJ day 😎
  13. Mayumi, this may or may not help (sorry about the source) https://www.saga.co.uk/magazine/home-garden/gardening/advice-tips/autumn-garden/bonfires-and-the-law
  14. Lynne , especially for you, I did it along yours Did you see me ?
  15. I'm painting myself Red White and Blue and streaking down the street as no one should be out to see me ..... 😂
  16. Love this Nothing more to add IMHO
  17. Hi Alan This was raised to James on the 23rd April as an upcoming issue and he's not responded with a plan of action on how to stop this happening I suggest as well as asking James you contact the head of the council and also the head of highways to get an explanation
  18. Keano your statement of "Unfortunately Spartacus the emotive argument you present will only go so far. The longer lockdown continues in the U.K. the danger is the economy will collapse, house prices and pensions will collapse and unemployment will be unprecedented." Is also a dangerous emotive drive for people to make a decision based on protecting their financial assets, over protecting lives in my mind. My argument above is that the public shouldn't be asked to make a decision because for what ever reason they will be tempted to vote based on their own particular circumstances rather than what is actually best for the country / population as a whole. Maybe there needs to be an external and balanced, in terms of scientific and economical members, committee to review and make decisions on when and how to come out of lock down rather than a public vote
  19. Jim lad, as part of your people's decision are you going to ask the opinion of staff in hospitals who have been working day and night to make sure the numbers of people who die are lower than predicted ? Who have been getting Covid as a result of looking after people who thought the lock down didn't apply to them till they became ill, and who are looking forward to being able to take a bit of time off to catch up on rest, get counselling for PTSD type symptoms after seeing so many extra people die because of Covid ? Or care home workers who, whilst they expect the people they look after to die, are also seeing them die prematurely and the workers are also catching covid either from their patients or from idiots who ignore the lock down ? What about bus drivers, shop staff, restaurant and pub staff and so on who will catch it from someone who didn't isolate when they have symptoms ? Your suggestion of a people's decision makes a mockery of the hard work and sacrifice everyone has made so far to keep the peak low and to try and save the system from being overwhelmed ! Just so that people can get back to work, to stop being inconvenienced and to enable them to go to the pub, watch a football game or other selfish things. Do the lessons from the Spanish Flu pandemic not serve as a warning ? Yes when the time is right, the numbers of new infections are so low that a second wave is not on the horizon then, and only then should we really consider relaxing the lock down in controlled and measures phases, but doing it for any other reason is blatant stupidity and selfish in my opinion.

    Praise be

You have got to love, sorry loath, the bare faces cheek of some during this crisis BBC News - Coronavirus: Camberwell church continuing to sell fake Covid-19 cure https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-52480133
  21. Hello James Can you look into the issue that road works are now scheduled by Conway starting the first week of May along Crystal Palace Road (resurfacing) and Barry Road (crossing update and pavement improvements at the area around Barry's Off licence ) These works will obviously require parking restrictions and people to move their cars but no consideration is given to people who are shielded with cars who can't physically get out to move them for another 2 months. Whilst the quieter roads may be an ideal time for Conway to work, it's not a great time for residents. Can these "non essential" works not be postponed until the Vulnerable groups no longer be required to stay home to shield them from the virus. I look forward with eager anticipation to your response as this is possibly being repeated all over Southwark at the moment and as someone elected to represent people (not Conway) then I hope you can stop this blatant stupidity from continuing
  22. On Sky / now TV Babylon Berlin In German with subtitles but compulsive viewing
  23. I stopped doing poker when coal fires were banned in London 😆
  24. James Just seen that "essential works" include closing the pavements along Barry Road for tree trimming , thus causing pedestrians to either walk in the busy main road or cross over and walk close to each other More council madness that should be suspended during the stay at home period as it will stop people being able to safely get to Peckham Rye park for exercise.
