Food poisoning at Dugard & Daughters - twice!
Spartacus replied to ArchieCarlos's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Archie, can you explain more about the circumstances You bought the chicken thighs at the weekend (Saturday or Sunday) and cooked and ate it Tuesday from what I am reading. So sorry to hear its made you ill, hope you are feeling better now. There is a possibility that you were unlucky twice but probability says if you were then others were as well over the last month so environmental health would have recorded that fact. Another possibility is your fridge may not be functioning correctly and the chicken was stored at the wrong temperature, might be worth using a fridge thermometer to rule that one out and prevent other potential problems. I'm assuming you cooked it for the correct time so let's dismiss that for the moment. Are there any other factors that may have affected the chickens quality ? If nothing you can think off then talk to environmental health and get them to check the business, did you keep any of the thighs as evidence as that makes it easier to trace? -
Southwark Council crowdfunding for green projects
Spartacus replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Curious question But in a mayoral election year, if southwark, a Labour Council, does go for maximum council tax rise, how will that impact Sadiqs share of Southwarks mayoral vote ? Obviously something he will be keen to see not happening. Wonder if pressure will be put on London labour councils to keep the rises low this year 🤔 -
That's a fair point Ted A lot of people are suffering with financial pressures and councils seem to believe residents can dig deeper and stump up extra cash when some can't even put three meals a day on the table. If councils were run like businesses they would either all have gone out of business by now or trimmed their sails to suit the wind by reducing internal inefficiencies and waste.

I half get what hb is implying Whilst we can't turn our backs on Ukraine and ensuring they have the capability to defend themselves, is it morally right that multinationals make money out of war ? During the 2 World wars, governments mobilised workforces and took over factories build weapons but now there does seem to be an industry making profits. Thete has to be a better way to allow countries to defend themselves without paying multinationals!

Council tax will obviously go down as they are making su much from brown bins, ltns, bus gate and other fines that by now their coffers must be overflowing 🤣

Southwark Streets for People Consultation
Spartacus replied to AylwardS's topic in Roads & Transport
Southwark seem to have created a whole department churning out consultations, and whilst it's important to get residents views they have gone from Area consultations to Borough consultations. With the diversity of different areas in Southwark is there a danger that one size doesn't fit all ? Especially around transport needs and on street parking / shared use? -
So , it's not about the money then 🤔 😅

Was / is the leak ins8de the property or nearby the property? If inside and it's the landlords responsibility then they will have to assist you with temporary accommodation. If its outside and nothing to do with the landlord then you may have to seek redress from the gas board 🙄

We have so many amazing local shops that surpass Sainsburys that everyone has a simple choice: Shop local and maybe get all your shopping in multiple stores. Or Continue to whinge about supermarkets whilst shopping in them because it's slightly more convenient. Years ago supermarkets were cheaper but now they have the majority of the market that is no longer the case. You pays your money, you takes your choice!

Just seen that the no 12 service has been changed to every 13 minutes https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/buses/bus-changes#on-this-page-1 So rather than adding more buses make it a reliable service, TFL have made it more sparse and therefore more crowded and reduced the impetus to use public transport 🤔

Dulwich Village area-wide CPZ consultation is back!
Spartacus replied to Rockets's topic in Roads & Transport
Obviously nearly 90% of the responders will be excluded for living 10 feet from the Road leaving only a handful of yes responses 😉 -

Disabled badges being stolen from cars
Spartacus replied to mlteenie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The badge is registered to the holder not the car, so unless you have told southwark which car you apply it for (hence registering) they won't have that information on the database -
Disabled badges being stolen from cars
Spartacus replied to mlteenie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
In Southwark you can register your blue badge with the council then park in disabled bays without having to displaying it as the registration acts as virtual badge. Helps prevent theft off you park in a bay overnight. -

Various online retailers (and motability shops) sell blue badge holders that have a security cable you pass through the steering wheel. -
Problem with BT installing fibre optic cable
Spartacus replied to mayfly's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Mayfly It sounds like you have a very specific requirement for where your router and phones go in the house. The problem is that you were lead to believe that the old phone set up in the house using copper cables would be usable which unfortunately isn't feasible. I get the issue you face and maybe the simplest solution is to get the box set up near the entry point for the optical cable and then look at how you can extend it internally afterwards. Obviously not the simple install process you hoped for and with the move away from copper cable to fibre we aren't being offered the ability to retain copper cable. Sorry can't offer a solution to the floors being lifted as that is specific to your layout but as others have said consider the option of cables attached to the skirting board or where appropriate change the skirting board where the cables are to run for one designed to hide cables under so that nothing is visible. Hope that helps. -
Moovart Yes it is a scam, they now know all your details, immediately change all your passwords and your front door so that they won't know where you live. I would also advise watching from behind the curtains for the next 5 years incase they steal your birthday cards. Stop using amazon as they are just killing small shops (nothing to do with the scam) and dye your hair blue so they won't recognise you if you do go out. 🤣

Consultation closed Not a vote mind you Let's see how its results are represented and what happens next My moneys on regardless of how many say no (compared to yes) that the council will still say " but its what you want"

I think that the point of the article, is not to show LTN specific data but that any data can, and may have been manipulated, even scientific papers, and that we should all do our own due diligence on any paper we read rather than accepting it as gospel.
