Lol I suspect covid vaccine scabs won't be a patch on BCG scabs
  3. Question What happened to the last online petition ?
  4. Thanks elloriac You gave a very balanced response, it's not a case of being bothered but more the confusion over why a group of people, who often quote the reason that they are vegan as against the use of animals for food, are marketed to by manufacturers using meaty terms or names It just seems counter intuitive and the question is, to appeal to all vegans regardless of reason, should new food names be introduced ? I agree with KK, a lot of these products are processed and that isn't good either. I'm still interested in views from both sides
  5. I know it's so called veganuary at the moment but today I saw a product called "green cuisine chicken free dippers" that look and taste like chicken dippers Why ? If you want to eat a product that looks and tastes like chicken then chicken is the answer! If you want to be vegan then surly the point is to eat things that aren't a "meat" substitute (in name, taste or appearance) A vegan friend said its to convince meat eaters that they are eating a meaty product but is it right ? Should new names be invented for vegan products so that it's clear what they are ? Bacon could become vecon Burgers could be vamburgers Sausages could be sawdustes It directly strikes me as weird that vegans want to call their products after the associated meaty name What are others thoughts from both sides of the meat / free table ?

You are right johnl but if you read the tweets of people who object to Southwarks car polices, you will see that time after time they get insulted and then blocked by the pro account. This seems a tactic often used against businesses in ED who raise objections and they often get blocked after being told how people will never shop with them again. 😱 I did have a strange thought this morning are the pro cycling lobby the social media equivalent of the old pyramid selling scheme, where the more new cyclists they sign up, the better their standing ? 😂
  7. Hmmmm Read all the twitter thread and see if it sounds familiar in terms of how a handful of pro LTN supporters seem to work. Not sure how true it is but some of the tactics seem to have been used in the past, especially the blocking on social media.
  8. With the covid vaccines being opened up to the clinically vulnerable and over 70s and invites being posted out (according to today's news) I hope there is a procedure in place to identify and fast track these very important letters. Although the real hope is that those who can, will be reached by other methods.
  9. Whilst not quite ED the open our roads group in Crystal Palace are seeing how well a council engages Croydon did a consultation on the LTN in Crystal palace and over 60% of those who responded said it should be removed Councillors voted 3 against 2 to respect these wishes but now it's future is down to the sustainable cabinet member to decide if it's removed, amended or replaced with ANPR cameras that will have a side effect of raising revenue... https://twitter.com/EliskaFinlay/status/1349136663700770817?s=19 It will be interesting to watch and if Croydon don't respect the results of a consultation then it may have ramifications for any consultations run by Southwark.

So you can eat enough to burst a tyre then get said tyre fixed after I can see the song You can't get fatter then a wonton fitter
  13. Blah blah, wait till fines for LTN infringements start piling up. Still that's one way of reducing car usage, send in the bailiffs to seize the cars from people who accidently go into one of the new gated streets so that they will never ever do it again ! 😱 Shhhssss nobody suggest this to council officers 🤔
  14. Kings won't email due to "data protection issues" yet guys and St Thomas will send a text that allows you to enter validation information on a website and when validated you can download your appointment letters. Not sure Kings are using the best excuse as data protection can obviously not be the reason as other trusts can get around the issue !
  15. I just got a letter with a hospital appointment for the 6th Jan (it's over a week after that date) yet on Monday I got a letter cancelling the same appointment due to the covid situation .... I do wonder how many people missed appointments or attended cancelled ones due to postal problems?
  16. That's fine Steven Just remember to sit atop a rocket before lighting the blue touch paper to get the full effect. No good being a tw@t unless others can enjoy the spectacle oh and get a friend to video it and post it on here too will you, there's a sweetie
  17. KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Only the innocent get caught ? > What - entrapment is it ? I think that it's sarcasm as in "I innocently only stopped for a moment on a double yellow line to ...." Entrapment -yes, the council have purposely painted double yellow lines where they know people stop just to generate revenue 😱
  18. That's really useful advice pugwash Thank you for posting as it must be fecking awkward for hearing impaired people trying to understand what's being said through a mask.
  19. Two wrights made an airplane (Sorry couldn't resist)
  20. It also leads to a moral question of who is most vulnerable ? Is it as the cat theorises, an 85 Year old who stays at home,or is it a 55 asthmatic who needs to go to work to feed his family? Both are equally at risk of dying should they catch covid and johnl said , it's about protecting lives not transmission yet surly by reducing transmission you also protect the vulnerable ! I agree, it's not a decision I would like to make or be responsible for and it's interesting to see various groups standing up to say "we should be vaccinated first to protect service a , b or c" Which do you draw first ? Health care workers , care Home workers, dustman, postie , Teachers, border staff, police officers, transport providers (bus, tube, taxi) and where do you stop and say you are not in the required group ? That could lead to people feeling forgotten. It's a tough one, but thankfully unlike the Spanish flu pandemic a century ago, modern science has given us vaccines and opportunities to have debates of this ilk !
  21. There was a restaurant a few years ago (St John seems to be in my mind) that had squirrel on the menu. I have seen that Native in borough also had a squirrel Lasagna on its menu last year. Maybe during this covid and panic buying period we could all forage for natural meats ... squab is another option (if only my neighbours cat hadn't got them all first) 😱😅
  22. Amazing amount of information But as said earlier rather than going down the "report them and bite the hands that feed us route" the first point of call should be to talk to the owners / manager and express your concerns. If there is no change of behavior within a reasonable time frame (say 24 hours , not 24 seconds) then escalation is an option.
  23. Whilst it's a serious subject, For some reason I keep on seeing the thread about a dog in the sandpit and think it's title is the start of a classic music hall type joke /forum/read.php?5,2177559 There is a prize of being allowed to drink a pint in a pub for whoever comes up with the best punchline to "A mum had her dog in the sandpit at Peckham Park today seriously!"

  25. Agreed kk but sadly not all humans like to do what is considered sensible, so the market has utilised an ancient law to protect people from themselves.
