  1. copleston road is great - loads of lovely families, nice houses and very close to lordship land but easy walk to peckham station.
  2. or get rough dimensions and take the picture to dulwich diy - bet they could help
  3. just williams by goose green roundabout has some
  4. can we have your feedback on the discussion re the proposed CPZ please? just the thought of this makes my blood boil. I do not live very close to the streets in this proposal, but can see the council's long term aim of rolling this thro the area the complete area being blighted. There seems to be very little input from any councillors on this.
  5. I was given the clear implication that they were having to do this to supplement particular areas due to budget cuts - and I rather suspect that fund raising for the special care baby unit will get more ? than say the geriatrics (where I will be soon!!)
  6. had them recently - definitely legit - left a pile of bumpf. collecting for the special care unit due to budget cuts.
  7. ditto the microchip cat flap - works a treat
  8. hi I think it is probably better for older children - and it is very expensive to get into - ?25 for an adult and a bit less for kids. I only know as my ten year old was very keen to have a look (having read their annuals) but even he baulked at the price!!! take them round the corner to M & M's world to look at the pretty colours. Shameless corporate PR but very entertaining just to look at all the stuff - and don't buy any of the 'beans' as they taste disgusting - now if they were smarties........
  9. thanks for the heads up - look at the small print - you should pay only ?60 or ?65 (only!) if you do it within a couple of weeks
  10. it is a bit daft to have any kind of 'do' that involves fireworks, on the weekend of bonfire night and name it something else - do it february - we could all do with a bit of a boost then.
  11. yes its awfully tricky isn't it?? When I was bereaved (for a very young child) I really would not have responded well at all to a book = this was my grief and no one was going to suggest that there was a given pattern to how this proceeded. However when the grief is part of the natural cycle of things (ie an older person who has lived a proper life) then I think I would have accepted such a book with more grace. One can feel very fragile and everything is incredibly personal/sensitive. You don't want 'your' person/loss to be lumped in with all the others that have gone before - am I making sense here? And of course, everyone reacts so very differently. Hmmm not much help but wanted to lob some personal experiences into the mix.
  12. oh cripes haven't brought my sponsorship money in! can we just drop in with an envelope?? edited to add I am a sponsor not one of those magnificent cyclists!
  13. minkey - that's very interesting as my child got bitten on the ankle by a very small black fly in peckham skate park (a couple of years ago) and it caused the whole leg below the knee to swell up!! always wondered what it was!!
  14. well good if that is the case. at the moment the road narrowing appears to be both sides of the road at the entrance to oglander/coppleston. Usually traffic calming is a little more spaced out. My alarm is somewhat curtailed if it is a water/gas works thing
  15. it is the cyclist point of view that makes me doubt these works - at the moment the traffic is having to stop to let traffic in the oppo direction thro. When the works bollards/cones are taken away traffic will try to squeeze thro making cyclists very vulnerable. I am interested in the reasoning behind the council's plans - busy main road/bus route lets make it harder for traffic to pass thro. If people cannot make a straight forward journey on a main route, then all the nutters that cause the problem will drive like loons on smaller rat-run roads.
  16. But why wait until the end of term to report these allegations, as everyone leaves for the summer break, rather than straight away when these transgressions were supposedly taking place? Seems a bit strange to me especially as it might impact all those children who sat their exams actually get their results at the normal time and how that could screw up their path to further qualifications. Surely better to have acted immediately so that kids sitting these exams could be invidulated by an outside body if deemed necessary. I have a child at kingsdale so obviously interested, however my child has said that School are 'stupidly strict' (their words) during the exams - that you cannot even touch the paper before or after the allotted time etc - you get the gist! I will watch this with interest.
  17. sorry to go off thread slightly but can you park on a white line across a driveway in a non controlled parking zone if the owner of the property gives permission?
  18. anyone know of lessons available in this area for under 14's? it all seems to be based in westminster or west london thanks
  19. what a brilliant idea and thank you for offering to be so helpful!! well done DKH adventurers!!
  20. a bit of a while ago, but my youngest did stutter quite alot between 3 - 5 - I think it was just his mouth couldn't keep up with his brain!! sounds daft but quite a few people found the same thing. No sign of a stutter now (aged 11)
  21. we always do M4, M5 then A30 rest of the way. We always used to drive at night so the kids would sleep!! Plenty of service stations for pit stops. The A303 has been a nightmare with huge bottlenecks at particular points. That is just our experience. best of luck
  22. Yes I have had them round - no complaints - proper paintings of all kinds of styles - some were really good and very resonably priced. I think they were just being enterprising.
  23. where's that mary portas when you need her!! seriously - sorry to see them go. Not a super regular but frequently got bits and bobs, fireworks etc
