AFN How fascinating that Ali got personal with Parky and you have chosen to do the same with me AFN...so lets get "personal" if you wish. Firstly I have just watched the clip again to refresh my memory. I said b4 tha Ali was not being logical (from memory) I did not remember, as it was 35 years ago, what the actual point was that Parky was making but now I have just seen it, then lets examine what Parky said. He said to Ali that you are a Worshipper of a Religion/Group that believes "The White Man is a Devil" and yet "you have White Friends, indeed more White Friends than any other Black Guy that he knows". Parky went on to say that "your" Religion believes in total "seperatism" from White people and on the surface this would appear a blatant contradiction, given that Ali appears to have "more White friends etc".... Surely a perfectly valid question? How can anyone praise Ali for his performance that night? He was nothing more than a verbal bully giving Parky no chance to answer or make further points or indeed get involved in a conversation. I assume you understand and grasp the meaning of a conversation?..It would appear not. Its when YOU talk and I listen and then, guess what?...I talk and then you listen and then it continues with both parties allowing the other to talk and make their points. This is something that Ali clearly did not want to do and just ranted on and on and you approove of this type of behaviour?? You think its perfectly acceptable for one party to completely monopolise a conversation? Then Ali started talking about other White "Devils" bracketing all White people in this category and you think thats acceptable AFN? I have been in a situation a few times over the years with a "ranter" when its impossible to get a word in and I look at them just like Parky did that night and think "you ignorant so-and-so"..its thoroughly unpleasant. Please don't patronise me with "think about what you are saying"...maybe you should take your own advice AFN.. In conclusion I not agree with you , its you that is "ill informed and misguided" .... Ali replied that all the White People he knows are "acquaintances". Do you agree that he was a hypocrite then and do you not think that, on that occassion(which is all I am referring to) that he was an intimidating bully?

Sunday Times: 1975-85 until I realised that I could not warrant the cost and time reading all the Supplements, so I gave it up. Also I took much more interest in my own life rather than trying to read and think tooseriously about all the World's ills, so I adopted a much lighter approach. Now I don't buy any papers after receiving a paper bill for over a ?100 five years ago and realising I was only browsing. I read on-line now.

What a load of "Right On" Bollix!....Complete and utter Bullshit ... I watched all Ali's interviews with Parky and as Brian Clough said to Ali, while he was in the audience that night, Ali lost it big-time!..He ranted incoherently, completely losing his rag because Parky pointed out something that did not seem logical or make much sense. The great Ali lost his calm, collected mind that night and all dignity disappearred because he was not "big" enough to handle the criticism...He folded like a pack of cards and his temperament was exposed and his insecurity and fragility came through. Usual boring addendum..."Yes" Ali WAS a great Man(how pathetic that I feel that I have to redress the balance when criticising a Black Guy on The EDF(...He was a great motivator and inspiration to millions Worldwide and, ofcourse, a great Champion but he lost it that night and looked a raving, ranting fool.

Most of the best Comedy shows from the Late 1950's and Tony Hancock onwards have been on the Beeb as well....Blackadder/Monty Python/Fawlty Towers/Steptoe/Till Death Us Do Part/Alan Partridge/Porridge/Only Fools and Horses/The Office/Extras/Black Books/The Day Today...add Light Entertainment like Morecambe and Wise and The Two Ronnies add the fabulous Drama Series...the list would go on and on... Used to be first rate for Sport....

As its The EDF and to try and keep up with some of our Jones's here, tomorrow I shall visit : The Great Pyramid of Giza then move onto The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, then I'll take in The Statue of Zeus at Olympia, have a sojourn and see The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus. In the afternoon I'll explore The Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus, investigate The Colossus of Rhodes and finish my day by inspecting The Lighthouse of Alexandria. Not sure what I'll do on Sunday...

Tiny Little Things That Cause You Irrational Rage
Tony.London Suburbs replied to PinkyB's topic in The Lounge
People interfering. People who drag others into their personal disputes. People who put pressure on their Partners to become detached from their Families while staying close to their own. People who put pressure on their friends and colleagues to dislike someone because, they (and they alone) are currently in dispute with someone. People who give the impression that its all the other persons fault with lines like "Well all my friends feel the same" People who believe their friends when they ask who is right when they are having an argument with someone....Of course their friends are going to say "YOU are in the right!", particularly if they do not know the other person. People who act very differently to someone when they are on their own but get "self-conscious" towards that person when others are around, especially if any of the others do not like the other person. PATHETIC. Neighbours who always speak, except when their friends around and they do not even acknowledge you. People who run to Admin, as soon as the going gets slightly tough. People who speak differently about you in Public to what they do behind closed doors (In Offices for example). People who take things too personally. People who think they are always in the right. People who are incapable of looking at the bigger picture. People who are totally selfish. People who are programmed to receive and not give. People who want to be forgiven INSTANTLY and yet when THEY are "the innocent/injured" party want to continue the "punishment" for days/weeks until they have punished you sufficiently. People with glass jaws who like dishing it out while not being capable of receiving any criticism, in return. People who form cliques in Offices etc. People who are your "bestest" friend when they are new and know few people but then drop you as soon as they are part of the main crowd, they only used you for their introductory period and have no further use for you. People who love to belittle others yet can not take a joke themselves (thats "different") People who go into stroppy silences after a dispute (I used to love that with certain Females in Offices as I would carry on talking to them when they had the hump with me and I have to say it was hilarious as they could not reply as they were "not talking"!... Abusers. That will do, for starters, off the top of my head.:)) People who do not realise that we are incredibly blessed and very fortunate to be here and waste too many moments of the little precious time we have. PEOPLE WHO DO NOT STAY IN CONTACT WITH THEIR LOVED ONES AND THEN REGRET IT BITTERLY WHEN THEY SUDDENLY DIE AND ITS TOO LATE..and they want sympathy! You had your chance but, in truth, you could not be bothered and now you want us to believe you are Sorry?? Bollix.. -
