DOG Stolen Just now 1635 RETURNED
intexasatthe moment replied to alice's topic in Lost, Found or Stolen
Not since last night .Also re reading I note that Alice harbours some doubts about the "taking it to the vet" . I also note your suggestion that Alice could go to the vet's and check this out . Maybe they still have doubts ,maybe they feel the most important thing is that the dog and owner are reunited and that thew matter is closed . And can't be bothered to go to the vets in order make a decision about ammending a thread title on the EDF in case it gives the area a bad name .Or possibly they think that if people were that worried they might read the thread or even think "what nice thieves in ED ,returning stolen goods " -

Having read the Dulwich Foundation Schools'Coach Service study v v few of the "lots of options " seem to be acceptable . Yes the routes have been changed so that Calton Ave is no longer driven down but others( parking/more parking on school site/ using third party venues for parking, alterations to Townley Road ) either seem to be dismissed or deemed unfeasible /too expensive/dependent on Southwark's approval resources or are v vague "managing travel demand "

The photograph looks odd to me as well . Roberts's left hand isn't touching her body and P.A.and Roberts seem to be looking in different directions . But neither P.A.or experts are going for the manipulated line ,so either there's a reason for this or I'm imagining things .

I do understand the one coach v. lots of cars ,though when I've seen coaches driving off they have v. few passengers .Possibly picking up at Townley and then off to other schools ? The need to soak my head is prompted more by the plethora of groups all considering similar issues but this glaring aberration persisting plus the narrow vision of some eg focussing on Calton Road . Plus the clear breeches of law by some drivers of coaches and the apparent lack of will by the authorities to address this .

And this http://dulwichsaferoutes.blogspot.com/p/school-initiatives.html indicates that all Alleyns sites have been awarded a TfL Gold Star award .Which involves "Gold Be among the top 10% of London schools, setting high standards to inspire others to transform travel habits, fully engage the wider community to promote best practices, and see a measurable reduction in the number of journeys made by car every day. What you need to do Within three academic years complete 25 different travel activities, 15 supporting activities and 8 consultation activities Provide evidence for each activity completed Demonstrate at least a 6% modal shift away from the car or at least 90% of pupils travelling actively" so the coach situation is obviously not only fine but recognised as a good thing . So I'm off to put my head in a bucket of water .

I've been searching ( without success) on Dulwich Society because I'm sure I saw some info on what's happening re the LordshipLane/South Circular crossing issue . I don't really do Twitter and all that stuff so I was surprised to see all the organisations all interested in pollution/congestion etc . https://twitter.com/CleanAirDulwich/status/1197810078201647104 I see the clean air group have asked the police to intervene re Townley Rd - or more specifically and narrowly the Calton Ave junction with . So I can see that this thread is redundant .

I did go to 2 workshops - one at the library and one at Christchurch at top of Barry Rd ,I didn't attend the Dulwich Village ones because I wasn't aware of them .And I only knew about the one at top of Barry Rd because I got an email from a councillor who I'd spoken to personally . It seems such an odd consultation ,and really it shouldn't be difficult to unpick because you haven't been to a workshop .

It seems odd to have community wardens dealing with what are traffic offences .I wonder why they are there and not Traffic Wardens ,or even police support officers . I think the community officers can only warn drivers and then "if necessary" pass the details on for a penalty notice . Some of the coach drivers seem unworried by their presence ,I almost feel it's a question of them running their engines until asked to stop .

"Maybe we should get a group together and do a 'die-in' on the street at school pick up time" Oh Asset ,now that's food for thought ...and I can't decide whether all the objections circling in my brain are just excuses because I'm too lazy/old /tired . If it got some press coverage I think it would be worth doing and you can count me in .

One of the things that gets under my skin regarding this is the attitude of some of the drivers .Posters have complained in the past of this and I have experienced it first hand . The hostility and unpleasantness is something to behold .They ( though I imagine some are reasonable ) clearly have no intention and feel no need to co operate with efforts to reduce pollution or to respect other users of the road . Other blood pressure dangers are the length of time this has been going on and the inescapable feeling that this is a special case where the law does not apply and health and safety are no concern.

I'm inclined to agree Asset. I like Penguin's post, with the usual attention to detail ,from 2 years ago . Penguin68 10 November, 2017 10:50 On the basis that the school presumably is contracted with the coach company (even if it does not control the actions of the coach drivers) it might be worth writing to the school enquiring whether their insurance covers them for being sued should there be loss of property or life consequential on the blocking of access to emergency vehicles by the coach companies with whom they work, as the the problem of coach parking has been made clear to them on numerous occasions such that they could not claim ignorance of it. I doubt, based on some of the photographs I have seen, that fire engines could necessarily get through, and even where drivers moved to allow then to this would necessarily hold up their access. but I've not taken up his suggestion .

It's beyond me how it carries on ,if it were in Lordship Lane I'm sure it wouldn't be dealt with by one community support officer asking drivers in stationery vehicles to turn engines off and with illegal parking and road obstruction just ignored . Townley Rd appears to form a boundary btwn Goose Green Ward and Dulwich Village . I have emailed the Labour councillors James McAsh et al and asked him to forward my comments to his DV colleagues if appropriate .
