  1. Penguin - yes I had noticed ! That was my point -)
  2. Penguin I want to say how much I appreciate your posts . They are always so even handed and give a factual background . Any chance you could stand for PM ?
  3. duke thanks for posting link to planning letter . It seems comprehensive . Covers many of Southwark's concerns and the many omissions and what seems to me to be deliberate obfuscation by the developers .
  4. Although website says 25 September .
  5. Right ,well I limped down there with my bad leg and can confirm Barry Road closed to North/Peckham bound traffic from Tyrell Rd to T junction with Peckham Rye . No right turn from Barry Rd into Peckham Rye . Buses still travelling south up Barry Road with the first bus stop outside estate acents not in use . Works expected to continue until 25 Oct . I guess that was all too complicated to put on Thames Water website last night .
  6. I agree Tractorlad but certain members of the InTexas household refuse to listen to good sense . So I'm left wondering about the success of a route to work this morning which involved a right turn at bottom of Barry Rd .
  7. Impressed by the finding postives! Yes ,tricky . Could you ring and give feedback rather than an actual complaint ? Could you do it annoynomously ?
  8. I wouldn't know if it's normal but it doesn't sound very helpful . I wonder if a mirror on handlebars would help you with the looking behind ? It's a long time since I learnt to cycle so this may not be current good practice . And sympathies ,sounds v frightening .
  9. Anyone know whether a vehicle can turn right at bottom of Barry Road ,heading towards Honor Oak ?
  10. Thanks Pugwash .I've not been getting the Southwark News ,too much other stuff to read !

  13. So possible to turn left at bottom of Barry rd towards F orest Hill Rd ?
  14. Thank you so much for the info AD .I had no idea .
  15. Half houses have an alliterative nomenclature ,maisonettes don't .
  16. Absolutely what Louisa and Nxjen have said .
  17. Thanks for that Brulysses.90,652 and rising
  18. So ,I'm calling out the OP and everyone posting on this thread because it's distracting from the fact that Boris Johnson has announced his intention to suspend Parliament . https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-49493632
  19. Use of so has become ubiquitous .
  20. I can't abide the use of "call out" . It sounds so smug to me as if the "caller out" is doing us all a favour with some high minded discovery of wrong doing that they are nobly sharing with the world . Plus it always conjurs up ( to me ) the image of someone being summonsed to the front of a class room /meeting and being humiliated . It's a catch all use which dumbs down the language and strips it of nuance . What's wrong with "challenged" ,"held to account" ,or heaven forfend the kinder "asked to explain ".
  21. cella a lot of third party sites come up when you search Land Reg and they do have higher charges . Make sure you use the GOV.UK one https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/land-registry
  22. From link above ** UPDATE 23rd August** Case Officer Wing Lau has closed down the commenting system for the planning application 4 days early. When questioned, she stated that it was possible to enter comments but on a different website address. This new URL is not linked to from the planning application page so no-one will know it exists. It also does not have any of the other comments appearing there. The main planning homepage on Southwark?s website wrongly informs people to use the ?old? planning register for planning application 19/AP/1867 but in fact the new comments section is on the ?new? planning register. So not only have the council closed comments early, they have opened up a separate commenting section on an area of their website which contradicts what the planning page says. All of this happened on Friday afternoon before August bank holiday so there is no-one around to fix the mess before the new extended deadline of Tues 27th August is reached. Our advice now is to email your comments to [email protected] mentioning ref number 19/AP/1867. Ask for confirmation they have received it as the comments section on the ?old? page has not been updated for 10 days (since 13th August) so we cannot even be sure that comments being sent in are being logged.
  23. I love Callows ,they give great advice, never try and sell you a new lock if the existing one can be sorted and v reasonable charges . useful to be made aware of scam .
  24. "the councils planning portal seems to have made inaccessible older planning applications" this is a bugbear of mine .Has been like it a good while .
