  1. Pedestrian traffic is not easy to negotiate through - this is a very valid point .With no through vehicles pedestrians will become more and more accustomed to using the road as an extension of the pavement . Although at the moment an absence of traffic is not guaranteed . A car flew up Rye Lane southbound and turned right into Choumert Rd . Even on long straight Barry Rd I have never seen a car driven at such speed . It did ( narrowly ) miss an oncoming bike. I think the car had crossed over the midpoint of the road prior to the right turn .
  2. Sidhue - yes by MyGP and PatientAccess . I've read that pop up notice - it didn't occur to me that this meant no more on line booking .Perhaps it does .But...madness to go back to everyone ringing up surely ? Although I booked an appt on line a few weeks ago ,with said pop up in place .
  3. Over last 2 days I can sign in but booking page won't load - is this just me ? Anyone else having trouble or has been succesful?
  4. I think it's going to go where the perfume counter is ,the area behind the front window on the right as you look at the shop from the road . Sally the sheets are flat and they had single ,double and king .They are all large .
  5. Wow the fabulous Krystals are getting a Post Office ! How I love that chemist/shop . The pharmacy is efficient and helpful , and they have so much stock. So many chemists have to order in the most basic of things simple dressings, sterile water ,common drugs . And as for the shop ..what an Aladdins cave -my latest find has been fantastic ex hotel beautiful cotton sheets for ?4.99.Not on shelf last time I went in but still available . Perhaps we could have whoever is the chief pharmacist there for PM ?
  6. There is something that can be done - educate and inform ppl that although within the law their actions have damaging consequences . I think the OP is doing this .
  7. What are the problems with the bus companies ?
  8. Well maybe I have a peverse view but to me that situation is one where ED is well served by public transport but the sheer weight of traffic/congestion results in slow journey time for all road vehicles with 4 wheels . The area is well served by bus and train .There may be particular destinations where an underground service would hasten the journey but that doesn't equate to ED having abysmal public transport .
  9. pair of good quality lightweight gardening gloves secateurs agree about seeds not being the best choice
  10. Is it the Worlingham Rd in East Dulwich ,or a different one ?
  11. Do ppl really think that ED is abysmally served by public transport ?
  12. Another vote for the fantastic Ellie at Norwood Rd Vets . Other local vets don't hold a candle to her .
  13. My experience of Southwark Planning is that they frequently extend consultation periods if there is a problem . It's worth bringing the postal issues to the attention of those responsible for this survey .
  14. don't apologise solar ,I was being sarky and having a dig at Admin .Which I shouldn't really .Well most of them anyway .
  15. Shouldn't this thread title be ammended to indicate which road the poster is talking about ? We're all busy ,busy ,busy and it might be annoying to click on a thread when it's not about a water issue in a road we're interested in .
  16. I do like this, staff being individuals and bringing humour to us all. Glad I squandered my time and risked clicking on a thread title not knowing what it was about .
  17. I enjoy John Crace on Theresa May eg "After the panto, the hangover. The Commons was in a subdued mood for the last day of school before Christmas. Both the pupils and the supply teacher, Mr Bercow, understood that everyone might have had a few too many bevvies the day before and that things had been said or not said ? everyone had been so out of it no one could be 100% certain of anything ? so an uneasy truce had been called." and "We?ve reached the point where only four diagnoses are now left. The prime minister is in a delusional, psychotic state and is in urgent need of help. Or the prime minister is focused purely on her own short-term survival: even she can?t be so far gone as to believe she has a long-term future. Or the prime minister is a sleeper agent for a hostile government committed to the destruction of the UK. Or the prime minister is totally incompetent." https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/dec/20/theresa-may-wishes-2018-end-remembers-2019-worse-brexit
  18. Thanks for update Sue . Like Blah blah I wonder why graphite used to be recommended ... maybe it was used when taking locks were also taken apart ,so not the danger of it clogging up the mechanism ? I trust Callow's though - I've always found them v helpful and like the way they try and mend/fix/things rather than just fitting a new lock .
  19. If it were me I would pop into Callow Locksmiths in Melbourne Grove and ask for their advice .I would take the key with me as they may be able to tell if it's worn . Or you could phone them 0208 299 4737 . And if you do could you share the advice on here ?
  20. My father always used graphite powder ,I use the graphite from a pencil .But I think the former is preferable .
  21. Clafoutis is easy and adaptable and not over sweet .You can add any fruit - I like cherries or apricots ,soaked in brandy or not . Make in ramekins or some kind of pie/lasagna dish . And i've seen this Milk Chocolate and Hazelnut Clafoutis: Melt 1 cup chopped milk chocolate in a large mixing bowl set above a simmering pot of water. Fold in the clafoutis batter until smooth and fully incorporated. Pour into a skillet or pie plate, sprinkle with 1/4 cup coarsely chopped hazelnuts, and bake. suggested ,doesn't appeal to me but ... https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/basic-clafoutis-51208430 INGREDIENTS 1 cup whole milk 3 eggs 1/2 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 tablespoons butter, melted 1/2 cup all-purpose flour PREPARATION 1. Preheat the oven to 325?F. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and butter until the sugar is dissolved. Add the flour and whisk until smooth. Pour the batter into a cast iron skillet or pie pan. 2. Now add your favorite fruit or flavoring (see below). Bake until the clafoutis is beautifully puffed and golden, 35?40 minutes. Serve immediately.
  22. Wonder if impact will have caused anything more than cosmetic damage
  23. oh God we're not related are we RH ? ,one of my many brothers used to prize his compact edition and the bog standard version was my choice of accompaniment for the police station when being arrested .
