  1. No - the law is a minimum of 5p per bag, so technically you were advised incorrectly. They can charge more if they want but smaller shops don't have to charge
  2. Food waste is particularly bad for the environment when it is mixed into landfill - produces methane. Education and behaviour change are the ideal way forward. However, we should also look at how effective our recycling is - how much of the rubbish sorted by households into recycling actually gets recycled? This all bypasses the vital question- why our our supermarkets not penalised for using so much packaging? If they were fined, prices would go up, people wouldn't buy from them and then THEIR behaviours would change - use of plastic for packaging would drop, requirement for recycling would drop. You have to look hard for products that are not harmful to the environment (think about your cleaning products) and also packaging that is fully recycled, let alone biodegradable.
  3. Manchester's not actually that far. We have people in the office who commute to London every day from further afield - and then people who live nearer that stay locally Mon-Thurs. We even have one person who flies in from Milan every week and stays a few days in an hotel.... If you want the job, take it - try different options in terms of how you manage it and see what works for you. You're just in a comfort zone. Shake it up a little bit!
  4. No, it will not be boris johnson. Would the tories REALLY seek further humiliation? To be honest, they should go and hide in the cupboard until the can bring themselves to apologise.
  5. Is it unprecedented to have such an unpopular and failing government?
  6. Add, subtract....whatever you like, it just shows how split the population still is and how risky a GE is for certain parties.
  7. I wonder why they don't want an election?
  8. Let's face it, Tories will be lucky to get one seat, BP are likely to get most of the seats but not all. It means that the Tories have well and truly hung themselves, not just their handling Brexit but all the other things they've done. If BP win, it means that there is a huge number of people who want to leave, so a 2nd Reform is risky for Remainets, as the might not win again. It does not define the terms of how we would leave. It would be foolish to leave on solely WTO terms.... so, really back to square one. But worse as it would prove no strong confidence in our government at all.
  9. EU to investigate Farage. Convenient.
  10. What I'm getting at... The EU elections are only a chance to indicate what would happen if there were to be a second referendum. The question is, which of our political parties show integrity, honesty and work towards delivering the manifesto (list of promises to electorate)
  11. So, who is clear about what each party will deliver? I don't mean the empty promises they male to get your vote. Which party has the best record for delivering their pre election promises?
  12. Yes, if you heard the interview, he asked Marr to discuss current politics. Not that unreasonable.
  13. Farage currently has more points than labour and Tories.
  14. I doubt the police have the resources to follow up - is this something that the park rangers can enforce? Perhaps having the issue raised on the Park noticeboards and a procedure to follow if this happens? Basically, raising awareness and encouraging witnesses to come forward, take photos and seeking to charge the owners. It really should not go ignored. And I don't think reducing the areas dogs can walk off-lead is the answer.
  15. could someone please annotate the list with which party is in favour of remaining and which is in favour of leaving? BREX: LAB: CON: GRN: LDEM: UKIP: CHUK:
  16. wow. what does that say!
  17. if anything, it should be free parking up to an hour (for visits to doctor, pharma etc)....you get a little sticker saying what time you arrived and put it in the window.
  18. I would love to - I think there would have to be an entry level though....then I'd definitely be up for classes
  19. At least someone is. I wish for revival of Spitting Image. They would have a field day,
  20. Peckham Plex everytime - much better atmosphere - it's just more chilled out and you can take your own drinks and snacks (but not hot food) I've heard arguments that the sound quality is not as good, but when you're taking kids or just are able to afford to go, it really isn't a deal breaker. For little ones - check out the Saturday morning clubs
  21. well, they nearly agree
  22. I would be inclined to have a very visible gardening day and then stay up to catch the thief. Sensor lights would be good. Or you could put notices up on lamp posts drawing attention to the thefts and asking neighbours to keep their eyes open. You could set up a neighbourhood watch scheme and be proactive.
  23. How much of a majority on any of the options would people accept as binding (rather than wanting a re-vote?)
  24. Sacrifice? I suppose there is an assumption some people are unable to see their own failings.
