yes - correct Snowy. Unfortunately it's the primary/ secondary schools not pre-schools which are causing the problems. Actually grants were available for re-building the school but not applied for.

it happened in Brixton where a number of schools (including Effra) were sold to developers and converted into flats. A resulting shortage of school places was not anticipated as there was a shortage of foresight. It would be nice to think that lessons have been learned and developers have to contribute to the community in their application.

yes - high rise is the way to go. Up-up-up. Supply/ demand - with enough high rises, we'll be able to provide affordable housing to everyone as there will be more property than people. Such a simple solution to life's little problems.

I think we all agree that bit. It's what to do is the issue.

We all have different views and that's fine. But we all agree that it's out of hand - whether there is an escalation or just a recent increase in reporting. I think it's the former. I'd like to know what the authorities are actually doing. It can't be easy as they have restrictions and the frequency in incidents is increasing due to that very factor. Maybe the death penalty is harsh. Maybe prison is not a fitting punishment. There is not doubt our judicial system is too soft.

To be honest, I despair at what is going on. Street crime seems more prevalent - maybe it is just because it's reported more or that it's on the forum nearly every day or so. There may be special units targeting such crime, but when normal people going about their day are getting attacked, it's definately out of control.

Conscription doesn't have to be active military. It can be any national service and it would be great if one were created to instill some order. TA for offenders only. Would never dream of letting them out with real guns. That would probably incentivise.
