  1. It's my daily trek. Overground from Peckham Rye (also stops at Denmark Hill on the way here) every 15mins to Canada Water (takes about 12 mins) and then down the escalator to the Jubilee Line and one stop to Canary Wharf. Easy peasey. The longest I've ever had to wait at Canada Water for a tube is ten mins and three trains, but that's rare.
  2. It's so urban having a firepit. In the country, we have bonfires...and from completely sustainable garden waste.
  3. There's a teunous link to Wimbledon. I can see how you got there. :-)
  4. Red Devil, did you remember that, or dis you spend time trawling through ten years worth of Lounging?
  5. don't you have foxes under your shed? I have an ants nest under mine.
  6. we've had this on the forum before. I suggest proactively writing to the park wardens. Also....perhaps stopping all thh cars who drive into the park.
  7. oh. touchy.
  8. you can't attach something to someone else's house without their permission.
  9. I'll second the champagne brunch. Maybe you could get it delivered.....
  10. who does the 'private side entrance belong to2? that;s vital missing information and would hold your answer
  11. thanks for the information - I'm going to see if I can enroll my daughter too :-)
  12. no - but I'm in a similar position to you and would be happy to confer. Looking to get rid of Property Management Co, whose director has weaseled himself into position as Co Secretary of the Freeholders Ltd co. You can probably imagine.... legal proceedings about to commence...Do you know a good Lawyer?
  13. Shorts are fine, but not beach shorts, board shorts, too-short-running shorts. Never with sandals and socks (but that goes without saying) ...or flip flops. I think our men need some support in this weather in terms of ditching the tie and being shown suitable alternatives. Mine tried to wear a short and trousers out for Sunday lunch but we made him put his shorts on.
  14. bkkmei - make a video of him and tell the police. Try and get his face.
  15. heartbreaking read.
  16. Absolutely no. I'd be at the school in the morning for an explanation of why they thought it was ok. Completely inappropriate at that age. If you don't feel up to speaking to them, you could write a note. Or you could raise it at a PTA and then it's pretty anonymous.
  17. Thanks Sue :-)
  18. I've just asked them. The eldest said it never happened in junior school, but she might have if she was asked to in Y3 but definately not in Y5 or Y6. The youngest said she would never have. It's a bit borderline humiliation. You don't say how old your daughter is - and it doesn't matter. If she's was uncomfortable, write to the school and say you're not happy with their approach.
  19. I'll take any pink ones or wooden ones you have, please :-) My daughter wants me to go to Ikea. Argh. I can't bear the thought
  20. Sorry, I thought you'd made her, not that it was the school's doing! Changes things a little bit. It may be 'normal' at the school and the kids wouldn't think anything of it. With my girls, there was a certain point they would have refused. Ask your daughter how she felt about it and act accordingly. If she wasn't bothered maybe ask them about it so they know you don't approve, or is she was upset, tell them.
  21. clean bed sheets and a oool shower before bed and a light sheet to cover. Defo keep curtains closed. It's just hot. Our house is boiling.
  22. I had a teak table in my garden which I was oiling. I saw a woman in my garden trying to move it, so asked her what she thought she was doing. 'Taking the table', she said. And continued her attempt. I asked her to leave and she still thought it was available and didn't understand she couldn't have it.
  23. I found this about the tangle of contractors working on the refurbishment. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/jun/15/long-builder-chain-for-grenfell-a-safety-and-accountability-issue?CMP=fb_gu Too many fingers in the pie. Not managed properly. They'll try and find a way out, but I'm pretty sure that would start a riot.
  24. I agree with New Wave. You won't get them to be quiet, you'll just end up with bad relationships with the neighbours - so it's best not to go there. Take the radio out into the garden or get some little ear phones and listen to something that you like. Or look at it another way - when it's even hotter on Monday, they'll be at nursery or school.....
  25. I think you should think of names you like and when your baby arrives, you'll know which one will suit her/him.
