Dirty rude runner - just a FYI
curlykaren replied to muffins78's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
oh no, both these incidents sound awful. Muffins78, please report it, I think you'll find that the police will take you quite seriously. A couple of years ago, in peckham rye park, I had a guy run past me pretending to be a jogger and then squat down, in broad daylight, looking me in the face, and had a poo. I was so shocked it took me until the next day to report it. I was very impressed by the way the police handled it and they posted surveylance vans in the area for a time after. Pls report x -

Ill considered comment about child cancer patient.
curlykaren replied to curlykaren's topic in The Family Room Discussion
yes, it seems the thread did rather turn into 'the keef show', and while I'm glad to read the apology I have never before in the family room seen someones post rubbished in such a way? Quite pathetically I had a restless night mulling over where it all went wrong. Obviously some of the other respondents had picked up on the central theme of my post, being, while we all would prefer to shield our children from the harsher realities of the world, at which point do other peoples feelings and misery outweigh our ability to do so? Also what tactics might be employed to introduce these subjects to our children? Theses are two perfectly valid parenting quandaries and I'm puzzled as to why you seemed unable to pick up on them? Also the irony of Keefs posts are not lost on me, posting on a thread to criticise someone, who has posted a thread to criticise someone? And later worrying that the fact that some forumites know one another, so making it intimidating for others to post, yet quite happily rubbishing my post and intimidating me! All too often threads are picked apart word by word rather than respondents replying to a central theme or question, making painful reading with people constantly sniping at each other, and in this case losing the point of the thread entirely. -

What does a baby wear when swimming?

they only let in a certain number of people to jellybabies so its never too crowded, buy your ticket in advance to avoid dissappointment, if at all poss. -
Ill considered comment about child cancer patient.
curlykaren replied to curlykaren's topic in The Family Room Discussion
why post? 1) hoping the woman in question reads the thread for a start. 2)curious to know if others think it was as offensive as I did, perhaps some think its a reasonable request? 3)childminder and child are friends of mine and we were on our way out for the afternoon, the incident quite coloured our mood. Approaching the woman in question was not really possible without drawing attention to the situation in front of little guy. Keef, you are going to be a pretty busy guy if you are making it your mission to pointlessly post about pointless posts. -
Is it just me? Or is it TOTALLY inappropriate that this afternoon, in the post office on forest hill road, a woman approached the childminder of a four year old cancer patient, who has lost all his hair due to chemotherapy. To ask, if it would not be better if he put his bandanna back on his head as his baldness would be upsetting for other children???? I can only hope that upon reflection this lady has realised how rude, inconsiderate and selfish her remark was, and am thankful that the little guy in question was too engrossed in the magazines to have heard her comment.. I remain stunned at the inhumanity!

Playground at Peckham Rye Park
curlykaren replied to nunheadmum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
if we are talking about peck rye kiddies playground then the work man said it should be finished today and open tomorrow. -
has anyone ever managed to get a response to a complaint made to the council when it is submitted via their web-site? I'd be equally interested to hear if you have tried but failed to get a response when using online complaint form. My complaints seem to go 'missing'. Thanks.

also, when you get your print out at the end make sure that your details are correct, they had inserted my age incorrectly as 18 rather than 38 which made a considerable difference to prediction of downs. They will probably tell you immediatly that they can see one/two/three heart beats, I hadn't been expecting this at all as the thought of twins/triplets never entered my mind and I would have been floored if they had just blurted out, oh we can see two heart beats. So, just in case, prepare yourself for more than one little one....good luck, enjoy x

yes, it did seem that one of the drawbacks to the new system was going to be under use of the service (talking of waste of tax payers money) and as the afternoon sessions we used to go to were never full anyway ( more than five though!?) found it difficult to see the rationale behind the changes? Anyway, ho hum, guess we will have to wait our turn.

well, if you were away or ill handing them out when attending not really that useful?

thanks littleEDfamily...so how do you get to be allocated a place then? Seems a bit rubbish that I wasn't sent some sort of letter?
-
thanks molly x...now if you'll just pop along there and try and get into the morning session as a trial run for me that would be most helpful?? x x

Before I went to Wales for six weeks Jean at Leapers had been saying that it was going to be changed from a drop in group to having allocated sessions. Does anyone know if this change has been made or can I take little man tomorrow afternoon as I used to? cheers x
