i am on shaky ground here but if you have children or other dependents and you know your journey home is going ot take longer that normal I think you should be able to leave a bit earlier.But if you are Brendedd you would have to leave quite a bit earlier.

cup cakes dont last long- they go dry. sweets are much better.coconut ice is easy and the chocolate and pistacchio fudge from nigella express is brilliant as you can freeze it. i am sure there are othe fudges and sweets. i think the hugh fearnley whittingstall book for family cooking does peppermints which are fun to cut out with toddlers- may be peppermint creams?

new mother, i am pretty sure the woman on check out does not go home and worry about how she did her job today. i bet she goes home and does not htink abou it until tomorrow. she probably has other worries but it is all relative when it comes to stress.

we alternate, and have a take away one night a month and eat out one night the next. This is a treat for me not to have to cook. We also eat out at friends / restaurants for birthdays and other celebrations- but that is probably no more than 5-8 times a year-is that about average for a family with teenagers? Sometimes cooking can be a chore - and little love involved-especially when it is wolfed down in 5 mins. The joy of eating out is they have to sit down and talk to you!

i dont have a blackberry whatever, but I suspect it is a good tool she finds effective at helping to juggle. Where would we be without mobile phones/internet? If the conversation is only via a blackberry then i suspect she is preaching to the converted- although I do wonder if there are some I T tricks I don't knwo about that would make my live easier. How many times have other mums been working from home and taking a work call and then heard screams from downstairs- had to hang up - and then return call saying "sorry we must have got cut off" meanwhile shoved bars of cholcoates/ sweets in childrens hands- with threats of no tv if they cant keep quiet for 10 mins???

a lot of poeple see east dulwich as a "destination" to eat out,feel sorry for those of us that live the other side of dulwich- where our choices are: indigo, cafe rouge,porcini or the rosendale pub. herne hill has about 4 places to eat out, dulwich village 3. So the actual number of residents that form the demand is substantially more than 5,000. I expect it is the same for those east of east dulwich too.

i think you have seen the exorcist too many times. No aabsolutely not.Once they are older and can destroy the older ones toys things night get more complicated in teh day time,but of course they do not do things like that- as long as you make a point of saying things like " ooh wemust just check thereis nothing around bubs could choke on etc". of course welove to cuddle them and dry them, but if it is difficult you could encourage them to lay their clothes on the radiator andput them on themselves after the bath.:)

you are dressing one that is nearly 4??? Mine were a similar age gap,and I actually had a few stories downstairs while I fed, then put little one down first, read a bit more with older one downstairs- they really feel they are missing out on attention and like a bit of undivided attention, then make them go very quietly to bed.Without disturbing younger one - this only lasted till youngest was 18 months though............ I think it really depends on how they are- but the older one feels like second fiddle so have to find some special time.

there is another thread on here all about buying a small oil filled radiator with thermostart and setting it low in babies room. i think you are doing the right thing but no fun breast feeding in a cold room.

I waited until after 9.30 this morning to get a train from Herne Hill to victoria, only to be told there are no "off peak" faees from herne hill to victoria. It is ?4.30 at all times. Yet a 1 day off peak 1-2 travelcard is ?5.60. This seems a strange pricing structure to me. Is it the same from all zone 2 stations?
