I would say go for the place at GG. They have just got a Good from Ofsted with Outstanding in leadership etc. It seems that some parents use GG nursery and then move on to different reception class schools in the area. Judging by their comments their children were happy at GG.

I have three cats, two stay in most of day and night, not venturing further than than the front/back garden. They are scared of the dogs and foxes. The third stays in all day then has to go out most of the night, returning early morning. I worry about her but it's something she does like clockwork.

I went with my Mum and Dad to Dulwich Hospital for their blood tests recently. Agree with PeckhamRose that it's not acceptable to be kept waiting in a small, dinghy corridor for nearly 3 hours. Maxxi's info was useful but outside of those hours then Dulwich Hospital is the only choice for routine blood tests.

Yes Nappy Lady I agree that the Bermondsey episode was very different to the others I've watched. Not half as many flashbacks or mapping and it just lacked something interesting or so I thought. Nearly missed this but remembered to record it. Glad I did and watched it after A&E King's. An American woman had bought a place in Reverdy Road and now had her sights set on No. 62. No 62 was a council property but had an auction sign outside - American woman went to the auction but was outbid. Southwark Council sold No. 62 for ?319,000 but after property developers moved in it's going to be worth ?1 million plus. Lewisham Council have just been forced to give back properties to their waiting lists. Properties that they were going to sell privately. An elderly neighbour of mine died just before Christmas. She was paying rent to Southwark Council for this property. Her house is now up for sale with an estate agent in Dulwich Village for ?439,000.

I've collected a few children from HH (some 3 and older) and found they do have homework - but it's always been fun stuff e.g. basic phonics, colourings, lots of bits to get parents and carers involved like looking around the home for words beginning with..... Then again I have known children from Oakfield and if you're happy with the school I would think about keeping her where she is.

Yes, go to Clapham Common or Peckham Rye, where there's loads of Runners. It often amazes me too how the Runners even have to Run on the spot when stopping somewhere like a zebra crossing or pedestrian crossing.

If Alice was setting up as a parent/toddler group, then she wouldn't need Ofsted's permission.

At least you offered. Just to say that babysitting isn't just a question of reading a book or watching TV. It's a responsible job.

Do you mean a parent/carer toddler group e.g. a drop-in for a few hours once or twice a week? If so, there's always a need for baby/toddler groups in any area, but it can turn into hard work if you have not got people helping out e.g. help setting up (heavy work getting tables, chairs, etc. out) teas/juices, washing up, managing the financial side, tidying up etc.

The big C & A clothes shop used to be where the 99p shop and others are now. There was an upstairs too with a big layout. Used to get my halter-neck tops, crimplene skirts and blouses here and East Street Market. C & A must have closed in Peckham around 1993/1994.

Mrs TP, it's good that the school has a strict ban on mobiles. Couldn't you mention to your daughter's teachers that she doesn't own one and is a bit worried about the search issue. I shouldn't think they will do a full body search (that would be a bit much) but I would be ok if my daughter had her pockets and bag checked.

Somebody else has pm'd me with the prima gravida information. I remember asking a nurse at the time and she told me it means 'older mother'. I knew I wasn't old at 35 so I've been proved right! Good old EDF!

I already had a boy and a girl but just felt a basic 'urge' to have another child. Had a couple of sad times and then, when pregnant at 35 I remember looking at my notes and it said something like prima gravida. I found out it means an older mother! My daughter is now 13 and I was very ill after having her (pulmonary embollism caused by blood thickening during the birth) and this was the only factor that put me off having a 4th. Would have had to have weekly check-ups, scans etc. and it just wasn't practical with three under 6. Looking back I wished I had just gone with it but of course at the time things are different. Just to add that holidays with 3 children more expensive as most places go by 2 adults and 2 children as a family.

Looks like Southwark are going the way of Lambeth one o'clock clubs! Ruskin Park closed a little while ago, very popular club, and sadly missed.

9/9.30am is quite late for some childminders as they have prob already had parents dropping off, leaving for school runs and then having to get to a group, so charging a daily rate is normal (also for nurseries). Childminders are restricted to looking after 3 children under 5 - that's why they have to charge a full day rate.

Yes, remember Romeo Jones was a tuck shop for me and sisters and friends on the way home from school. This was during the late 70s. Walked home from Kingsdale School a lot and would always go in here for a bag of sweets.
