I'd rather have a mouse than a cat. (not really, but its close)

An annual service charge is a better way to manage these costs - build a pot for a rainy day - the council presumably didn't do that? When you buy from an old council block you must wonder how many potential problems have been built up over the years of possible neglect that could hit pretty hard at some point. Hopefully she has at least had decent capital growth during the period - not that this helps pay - I'd say fight it - say it relates to deterioration that arose mainly prior to her ownership and that she's only responsible for a small proportion of the costs. Of course if she doesn't pay - I guess the normal council tax payer fits the bill for the balance - so no one wins.

Tandoori Nights and some other Indian restaurants on LL have their own regional specialities. The traditional dishes, being madras, dupiaza, tikka masala etc are not their main fare, are listed separately, are cheaper and don't appear to be encouraged in many of these restaurants. Having said that I started going to Tandoori Nights in 2001 - I like the green chlli handi dishes and their lamb is excellent - but its been the same menu I believe for 15 years now, familiar is good, but a little disappointing I guess, to never change. Omrith does a fantastic sea bass starter. I think its wrong to say these restaurants are serving up the same fare as 40 years ago - I came to London in 1989 and the traditional dishes were all that was on offer then. Its changed a fair bit. And I'd take Tandoori Nights over Ganapati any day. Just because its south indian doesn't make it better.

The one I'm referring to is open 7 days - why wouldn't it be - its doing well. The ones that don't open all days would I suggest be open if they had sufficient custom on those days - being closed on any day is not a good sign. My post wasn't intended to show how well it was doing - but to reflect that ?20k of costs per week is a hell of a lot to clear before you are even profitable. its not an easy business model.
-
I know a restaurant on LL that has overheads of ?20k per week and seeks to make 25k+ turnover per week to make a minimum 5k profit. Its good if you can manage that target - but the 20k of costs is a very big risk if it doesn't work out. its certainly not an easy option. don't get involved unless you are brave, know what you are doing and have deep pockets for the start up costs.

At a rough count its over 100 covers - surely that's big enough for most chains? could be anything at that size I'd say.

Celtic will introduce a safe-standing area from the start of next season. The club confirmed in their season-ticket renewal information that rail seats are to be installed at Celtic Park over the summer. The modified area will be in the corner of the Lisbon Lions Stand. Permission was granted in June last year, with the model being used based on versatile seating common at German grounds. Their initial plans were to accommodate up to 2,600 supporters. Glasgow City Council, which had twice previously rejected applications from the Scottish champions, gave the project its approval in June last year. At the time, Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell said: "Across football globally, the reality is that some supporters are choosing to stand at matches. "Rail seating has been in place in European football for some time and there has been considerable demand for some form of safe standing within the UK and particularly from our supporters."

I was a big Arsenal fan PD from the mid eighties and a constant on the North Bank for a couple of seasons from 1990 - 1992 - just lost interest over time. Celtic is my team and I find it hard to find a particular attraction to an English team currently - I quite liked Spurs until last week.

I was talking of my experience from my recent visit to the Emirates. Arsenal losing to Watford. After posting I was going to change it to read Arsenal and Celtic (before anyone took it personally which people seem to do, don't they) - same old dull passing game, forgetting that scoring goals is the point of the game. At least we have the sense to sack our manager, or ask him to leave or something.

Sweaty Betty - the final nail in the gentrification coffin?

Para 1 - true Bob. -
Teams have been defending high up the pitch against Leicester all season despite the warnings. Weird. Refreshing to see Vardy etc shoot on sight when compared to shot shy teams like Arsenal who pass the ball into boring oblivion. Speed kills.

There is a Mr Louisa !!!!!!!!! ;) That's set to become the main topic of this thread - move aside astroturf.

East Dulwich is small - if a small M&S, FrancoManca, Yama Momo or Sweaty Betty come to ED it's a good thing, imo. -

Louisa Put a call into a few of the major chains and ask them "where are you definitely not interested or never likely to be interested in opening?" Move there as soon as you can. I'm sure those places will be absolutely perfect for you. And I'm sure they are all lovely. -
Wtf came over Spurs tonight....crikey. Don't really care about Leicester in particular, but everyone loves Ranieri, what a great guy and everyone is pleased for him.

Malumbu. That is post of the month. An honest assessment.

I've been waiting to get served at the Dog for 14 months now. But thought that wasn't that unusual so didn't complain. Didn't realise it was actually shut.

Should Agents make that assumption? not every buyer needs finance, although the agent may well have known the status of the bidders, in which case ok. Sometimes agents just want a sold sign up and move on to the next sale, commission earned.
