What's the famous line about the Apollo 11 mission to the moon having less power than a modern pocket calculator? Frightening yet massively impressive at the same time that effectively they did the whole thing with set squares, compasses and mental arithmatic. I love my iphone compared to what I had before and often now wonder how I coped. The map function, whilst simple, has often been invaluable in parts of London I'm not used to. Shazaam is a great app for identifying songs you don't know and vastly superior to the old dial-up version (as SeanMac will testify). LastFM is also great if you have wireless access but would munch battery otherwise. I also have a torch, a chess game and ping-pong. I just wish my Hotmail account was compatible with the mail programme. It's only a small complaint and should teach me to upgrade to a decent email server but I can't be arsed frankly. I have the 3G version and am now very jealous of those with 3GS but will have to wait till Xmas for an upgrade. A 4th generation model is in the pipeline however. Some Chinese guy stole one and then topped himself according to the Beeb. Now that will be impressive.

No. It is the fragrant Dr Anu Bhatia. Google for YouTube footage!

Isn't it because one of the GPs that appears on GMTV, giving medical advice, is from that surgery. I believe Mr McGabhan has experienced her warm bedside manner and is a fan. But you never heard that from me.

Classy do or, err, somewhat less so? If you give me an idea of what you're after I might be able to help.

What BigNumber5 said. I can't really stand either of their postings but I'm certainly against any banning.

Thanks for that Ted. As a Leeds fan I'm in little doubt how unpleasant Papa Smurf is. Nor would any Chelsea fan give him a positive character reference. I do know that it is generally assumed that he saved Leeds who were 24 hours from going out of existence. But I'm looking forward to the day he sells us on and goes back to Monaco for good.

Yeah, the original POMS (Prisoner of her Majesty) would have been the crims we sent to populate the barren desert now known as Australia. Now they're "free" they refer to the English as POMS as we're stuck with Her Maj.

Sorry for the late reply but seemingly, thanks to this same site, we are not nearly as kindly with benefits as is made out. Unemployment benefit as a % of GDP

Have you met him Ted? Or is this a feeling you get from his plummy Old-Etonian tones?

Do you know something I don't Ted?

BBW - you, rude? Surely not? Whilst a pint of chesnut coloured ale with a frothy head, supped whilst over looking a village green cricket match moistens my eyes I'm afraid that message was written whilst still in my pyjamas from a terraced house in Peckham. Somewhat less romantic. As for the straw boater and Bertie Wooster fantasies you should pop along to Bedford Square Gardens on Saturday where you might bump into me competing in the Chap Olympics. Pip pip.

Door to door scare-mongering (AVIVA health insurance)

Is that not a double negative Steve? I had them too yesterday evening. I thought the swine flu line was pretty desperate but in hindsight more vulnerable people may be frightened or worried by this. -
You don't know what TMS is? My dear Ann, it is the epitome of British Summers. It is simply, the commentary of cricket (currently the Ashes) on Radio 4 Longwave - or Test Match Special. But it is far more complex than that. It has such lyrical luminaries as Aggers, Blowers and, err, Boycott. But let's gloss over the latter. Talk is often not even of a cricket nature - and this is regularly the best bit as they ruminate on subjects as diverse as pigeons or cake - but it's vividly descriptive tales of bygone matches and cricketing personalities make it unmissable should one be at leisure during any England cricketing exploits. Tune in tomorrow as we decimate the Orignial POM's batting line up. Larks.

Keef - do they get the most benefits here? I would question that tbh. I'm going to dig around and see whether that widely held assumption is in fact accurate. I'll try and report back in Huguenot time.

Of course asylum seekers (as opposed to economic migrants) aren't allowed to work by law and thus have no other means of supporting themselves other than to rely on the state. Perhaps if we allowed these people, many of whom are highly skilled professionals, to support themselves it may begin to alleviate the shortage of housing, perceived or otherwise. In relation to other inquiries as to why migrants pick the UK rather than other EU countries that they may have passed through on their journeys I would proffer some of the following: The UK is still one of Europe's most economically successful countries, despite the recent downturn We have an existing variety of disapara (sp?) that other members would look to become part of. For e.g. New Malden has Europe' largest Korean population. It would seem logical if you were Korean looking for a new home in Europe to head to the UK rather than the first EU country you reached (which would be Poland if my geography is correct). The UK has a deserved reputation, and one I am proud of, as a tolerant nation that has little racism - an attractive proposition for non-white migrants who may have come from "difficult" backgrounds. And one last point. TLS, you asked how "YOU" would feel (your caps btw) if one of "THEM" continually got promoted at work despite your own longevity of tenure. I'm afraid the comparison doesn't hold water. Housing is assigned on basis of need on a points based system. Promotion at work is neither based on need nor on permanence but rather on skill and potential. Does that answer one of your many questions?

Ted. Ted. What have done, Ted?!

That's true Piers. At one point in the near past I would have inclueded Leeds in that too, but our downfall skews this. Since the golden age of Becks, Scholes, Giggs, Nevilles etc I have to say far fewer have broken through into the first team. Wellbeck seems to be the closest at the moment.

Whilst his winning ability is unquestionable, and the youth development programme at Old Trafford is uniquely successful, would the MU fans on the forum say that Fergie's transfer policy is generally successful? I'd say yes, but as illustrated above, there have been some high profile failures. What about the other clubs? Wenger did buy Francis Jeffers! Off the top of my head I'd say Houllier/Rafa have been the most hit & miss if only due to the sheer number of players bought and sold over the last decade. But I've not thought about it that hard.

Don't forget Taibi!

At the forum drinks on sat, BN5 and I had a rather drunken discussion on the future of international rugby and specifically the Lions. Whilst these tests have been hugely enjoyable some new thinking emerged from the bottom of our glasses: GB&Ireland isn't a wide enough pool. The basis should be a "Northern Hemisphere" team. It would be open to French and Italian players. Their opposition would be a "Southern Hemisphere" team that would be a mix of the Tri-Nations and maybe the Argies (if any of them were good enough). There would be an annual game. It would alternate venues yearly between the two hemispheres. The coach of the teams would be the coach who had won the respective tournaments (6 nations or Tri-nations) most recently. It would be the annual showcase game for the two "styles" of rugby. I think that's about as far as we got. The fans should like it. As should TV. What say the XV a side fans of the EDF?

I'm resurrecting it now! Are people watching this mens final?! 2 sets all. 13-12 to the Fed! Epic.

A few of us here in the garden. Come on down. -
Owen to Man Utd is now confirmed. A brave choice by Sir Alex but I think he might work well with Berbatov. And he'll be guaranteed to get more service than he ever did at Newcastle.

I'm detecting sarcasm but I'm not sure I quite understand it. Iron Maiden? Thumbs screws? Am I having a (natural) blond moment?
