  1. Maybe we move Flintoff up to 6 then, as you suggest, and move whichever w'keeper we play to 7. But it shouldn't be Ambrose. He's been dreadful. Maybe Flintoff has bowled 40 overs but he looked pooped at the end and became ineffective. If Sidebottom is fit is a big if - to come straight back and bowl 40 overs is a big ask. You'd dropped Anderson from your team for some reason. Jones should definitely come back - agreed. Not keen on Colly or Pieterson bowling on these pitches - always reeks of desperation to my mind. I'd be prepared to replace Broad with Sidebottom, perhaps, but his contribution with the bat has been worth his average bowling display. Shut-it Bren - this is the only fun we're going to be having until the next match! Enjoy it whilst you can mate.
  2. For my money Broad offers a good all rounder. He's developing nicely with the bat and although not a deadly bowler offers a good alternative at one end with either Flintoff or Anderson at the other. Why is no6 "key" compared to 5 or 7? Foster might be a good bet. Was assured a few years ago until he broke his arm and has never got back. First class average is decent too. You've only got 3 fast bowlers (flintoff, jones and harmy/sidey) - all three of whom aren't at full fitness or match-readiness - not wise imo.
  3. Ambrose? Still? Nah, I'd be chucking him if I were a selector. What about Phil Mustard? Avergaes 23 in ODIs and 26 in county matches. He's got to be better than Ambrose, surely? So I'd have Cook; Strauss; Vaughan©; Bell; Pieterson; Mustard(wc); Flintoff; Broad; Anderson; Jones; Panesar I'm still not sure about bringing Colly back in but he had a good knock for Durham at the weekend.
  4. Website is up and running: http://www.thedukese15.co.uk/# Looks good.
  5. All over by tea today.
  6. Aye, true. And the 11 have one ball between them to try and cause some damage with. I've always maintained in a pub fight never go for the pool cue but the pool balls - much more nasty. Anyone with me on that? So, yeah, cricket, eh? What's all that about. Bloody Graeme Smith making us look daft seemingly!

  8. Aye, but it'd be more of a sumo wrestle than a fight with those two. Now Collingwood I reckon would be a bit tasty. North East boy - them's hard oop there.
  9. I suppose 45 is a decent knock but when you're needing stability AND runs it's unhelpful. Fred in, but we're in real trouble. I'm liking the Boycott quote though. If we bowl out RSA for under a hundred I'm happy to look a plonker for getting all worried. Edit: With Flintoff batting and Kallis bowling is this the heaviest bat/bowl combo ever seen in test cricket. Those fellas look like they enjoy the odd pie & pint combo. I suppose Ul-Haq's a bit of a chubster and that fella from Barbados(?) in the World Cup was hoooge. If they faced off it would be quality. Any advance on that?
  10. Pieterson gone for 45. 7 boundaries, 46 balls. We really needed some Boycott spirit from KP but he reverted to type. And to add insult to injury it was Smith who caught him. Woe is now!
  11. Bugger off, we didn't take the piss last week. ...oh...wait...kleenex, please.
  12. Well, it won't be Saffa Strauss that's for sure. He's just gone for 27 and after Bell it actually get's bad. Like proper bad. *Hangs head*
  13. Is that what Safas mistake for sportsmanship? Cheatin' bugger! Just not cricket etc....
  14. Cock! Wtf is Vaughn doing these days - great captain he may be, but his batting is all over the place. Could we really drop the most successful England captain of all time? And who replaces him? Shah?
  15. It was supposed to be open already. Is it not?
  16. He's taken 29wickets in little over half a season though and is fast - some 145kmph so I've read. Could be an overnight cult hero.
  17. And not for the first test either. This is getting silly. Why not use the snickometer thingy on these ones?
  18. Our bowlers better be on shit-hot form today as our batting is weak-looking. After Bell @ No5 it all looks a bit shaky. Flintoff - rusty Ambrose - rubbish Broad - lucky and inexperienced Anderson & Panesar - laughable Pattinson - apparantly worse than Panesar!! :-S We better hope for a decent knock from el Capitano - which is long overdue - to set the standard.
  19. Make a breadcrumb mix using: 60% white breadcrumbs 40% parmesean cheese 2 tsp of cayenne pepper Flour, egg and then dip strips of the fish into the mix. Deep fry for 2-3 minutes according to size of fish pieces or until the breadcrumbs are golden brown. Serve with buttered new pots and a side salad and some sort of sauce of your choice - simple mayo, tartre or something more pokey with mustard and gherkins/capers perhaps. And a chilled glass of Sancerre.

  21. Richard Hannay from the 39 Steps. Not any of the film versions though - only the one from Buchan's books. WW1 action hero. Natty dresser. Far more manly than I'll ever be and helps save Europe more than once from "the Bosch". Natch.
  22. 1/2 = one parent? 1/4 = one grandparent? 1/8 = one great grandparent? . . . 1/32 = one great great great grandparent was aboriginal? I'm amazed there were any white folks in Oz at that point! Blimey, that's some genealogy. Oh, and excuse my ignorance but what's the "stolen generation"?
  23. Van(guard) perhaps, Mike? ;-) Anyway, both of them should really be singing God Save The Queen but we'll let it go this once!
  24. ?0.5 million minus how much in wages? Did he contribute enough? I'd say no. Give Wenger his credit though - if that article above proves true Arsenal are in much better financial shape than any of the other big four.
