  1. I'm hoping the collective hive-mind of the forum can help. I'm likely to be moving house shortly and am using the opportunity to ditch all my CDs in favour of storing all the music digitally. The trouble is, the options to do this seem baffling in number and complexity. I have a few hundred albums (under a thousand) with some currently on my laptop (via itunes) and iphone. The iphone is now full though. The CDs are a combination of mine and Mrsd_c but we?d want them all together. In the new house, we want music available in three rooms ? lounge, kitchen and bedroom. I?d also want to be able to listen to Spotify (probably via iphone) and internet radio (normally via bbc iplayer). At the moment, my favoured idea would be to put all the music on NAS drive with itunes installed, buy a streaming amplifier and have that in the lounge. In kitchen and bedroom I?d have a standalone wifi speaker like these: http://www.richersounds.com/product/wireless-docks,-speakers-and-portables/pioneer/xwsma1/pion-xw-sma1-wht Does anyone have a better suggestion? I don't need audiophile wanktastic sound quality but don't want tin can sound either.
  2. Much like the closing sentences, I invested great hope in Brown. A tragic figure who, I think, history will generally see as one of Britain's statesmen.
  3. If Iran and the US are now on the same side you know the enemy must be something special.
  4. I have not read that - looks fascinatingly grim. Perhaps a loan in Nov when I'm hopefully coming over? If you're interested in Chechnya, then I can recommend Let Our Fame Be Great by Oliver Bullough for a brilliant overview of the history of, and modern-day consequences for, the Caucuses.
  5. I can kind of forgive it when there is a real ideological or religious cause. But in this crap shoot of fascists vs proto-fascists?
  6. The other nationalities fighting in Ukraine. Utterly bonkers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-28951324 Repaying the Soviet Union for their support in the Spanish Civil War?! Are you shitting me?
  7. Yeah, you need to find a neglected Chinese province to pick. Silk Road has done Xinjiang. Maybe go for Gansu? From wiki: The cuisine of Gansu is based on the staple crops grown there: wheat, barley, millet, beans, and sweet potatoes. Within China, Gansu is known for its lamian (pulled noodles), and Muslim restaurants which feature authentic Gansu cuisine. Sounds spot on for a new trend.
  8. Heated? Yeah, way to go on the whole climate change issue. Heating thousands of gallons of water to maintain a 25 degree temp in Peckham in Feb? Good work.
  9. With all that botox he can't do any other sort
  10. The 2014 ConIFA World Football Cup
  11. C'mon Piers. Don't let reason and well-argued logic get in the way of Quids making cheap political points.

And also go on to play in European competitions. They're probably quite happy with their lot. I had to google Gagauzia. Man, no one like Moldova do they?
  13. The police also turned a blind eye. You know, that renowned liberal leftie organisation, the police.
  14. The World Cup for countries you've never heard of. Or don't exist. Or might exist one day. Or definitely aren't even countries and never will be. http://magicspongers.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/that-which-has-been-born-part-1-of-2.html http://magicspongers.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/that-which-has-been-born-part-2.html#more
  15. And my post wasn't an attack on you. It was on the media. And on the London Guide Dogs organisation for spouting bollox. Your post was worth mentioning.
  16. Except that the whole thing has turned out to be utter nonsense. The stats were essentially made up for the story. Just 14 people had an issue. 14. One four. http://road.cc/content/blog/128474-anatomy-lie-how-guide-dogs-london-fabricated-attack-cyclists And yet for 48 hours all we get in the press is "evil cyclists" again. I'm not making excuses for those 14 or for any cyclists who cycles dangerously and/or on pavements. But we really need to get this in perspective and realise cycling can and should be seen as a friendly, healthy, cheap and reliable transport method instead of making it out to be the preserve of lycra-clad psychopaths. Even the BBC have had to print a correction saying it was cobblers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-28945834
  17. Maidstone maybe? The tower in the background here looks similar though I can't work out what or where it is. http://www.old-picture.com/europe/Maidstone-Street-England-High.htm
  18. On our last holiday we had the joy of RyanAir on the way out and EasyJet on the way home (long story)! Both were fine. We had the pram all the way to the plane as we were bused onto the runway. It was then folded and left at the foot of the steps to the plane to be put on board by baggage handlers. We picked it up at the foot of the plane steps on arrival. Both airlines, for that at least, were fine.

I've never had those dishes....only the Szechuan stuff.
  20. Well one of you is miles out. I can't look like both of these! http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140703105816/modernfamily/images/thumb/0/04/Stephen_Merchant.jpg/275px-Stephen_Merchant.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/01/22/article-1245224-00420E2600000258-533_233x367.jpg I'd always thought I was closer to: http://www.ryka.it/dawsonscreek/Dawson/Galleria1/Grandi/Dawson.gif
  21. Maybe - it's archeypal but not sure it's been in fashion for some time. Although I did bump into another wee Hamish in a Penge garden centre some months ago. Was a very odd experience.

  23. No 98 in boys names in Scotland. Nowhere to be found south of the border. http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/statistics/theme/vital-events/births/popular-names/babies-first-names-2013/detailed-tables.html
  24. Wuli Wuli in Camberwell deliver and are excellent. Try their authentic Szechuan dishes esp aubergine with minced pork.
  25. *Bob* - I was hoping the redevelopment of the station would allow a comeback for Sips. Now that was how to do customer service.
