  1. I'm a forum moderator. Her posting history (two posts - both praising BH) set my spidey sense tingling. I can see registered names and when I googled hers it was that of the BH manager as listed on their own website. I don't know what's more depressing, that she did it in the first place or that someone that dumb is in charge of looking after children for a living.
  2. By "chattering classes" do you mean anyone who bothers to read anything about it?
  3. THE ABOVE POSTER IS THE NURSERY MANAGER OF BRIGHT HORIZONS. LYING ABOUT YOUR IDENTITY AND FALSE ADVERTISING. INTERESTING APPROACH TO GAINING PARENTS TRUST.

  5. I think even Bell Pottinger might struggle with this one.
  6. There is another pub in Nunhead of some note that doesn't get mentioned often. The splendidly named Telegraph at the Earl of Derby. It's on Dennett's Road, does excellent beer and food and has a lovely atmosphere complete with Soviet tank blueprints on the wall. What more could you want? http://www.remarkablerestaurants.co.uk/remarkable-restaurants-telegraph.html ps - it might technically be New Cross, I'm not actually sure.
  7. Camp? Get a cheap tent and just leave it behind?
  8. Are you hiring a car? Most car hire companies will rent you a seat as well. I've always done it and never had a problem. Costs vary so shop around.
  9. Didn't know the bingo did all-nighters, Lou?

  11. Is that one degree "talent"?
  12. Also, just a few weeks ago, A. Cameron was fronting a challenge against legal aid cuts by asking a judge to rule that a fair trial could not take place due to lack of expert lawyers. It was seen as a real blow to the government's justice reforms. He can't be both part of the establishment cabal and fighting against it at the same time.
  13. I know. It was the reference to "liberal hypocracy[sic]" - it's the sort of weird nonsense one reads on the Telegraph and Guido Fawkes comment boards. Along with "libtards". For all you shriek about being stereotyped you do a damn fine job of it yourself slinging around phrases like that. I would just think all that indignation is exhausting.

Have you started referring to NuLiebour?
  15. Cheers fella. He's fine now - wouldn't know anything had happended to him. But more than once during the process, having received exemplary care at a world class level and not even thinking about the cost, did MrsDC and I look at each other and give thanks.

  17. Chile beating Brazil is going to be close. If they do, you'd fancy them going all the way.

And there are other bookstores that deliver you know....the LRB for instance. I'm sure Ireland has something similar without you driving to Dublin.
  19. All the knockout games now decided. Can't pick a winner but the semi finals will be: Brazil vs Germany Argentina vs Netherlands
  20. Ah - yes. If you're self employed I reckon it must be much more of a kicker.
  21. If you want to feel rather grand then Le Deux Salon just off Trafalgar Square is a French Brasserie of the finest order. Waiters in uniforms, white linen, leather banquettes and wood panelling. Grown up dining. The food is excellent too - esp. anything of the josper grill. Maybe not the andouilette sausage on date night though. I'd also recommend Zucca on Bermondsey Street for a similar grown-up/sophisticated vibe. Excellent modern italian. Not a check table cloth in sight. Head to Jose's tapas bar along the road first for sherry and jamon. Would second Duck&Waffle although the food is quite sugary. Chez Bruce in Wandsworth is still consistently rated as excellent and I'm rather fond of Lamberts in Balham but haven't been in some years.
  22. I'd suggest changing the name fo your thread to something closer to what you're on about. And move it to the business section.
  23. V true *bob* - but then at this year I came to really need the NHS. A bad injury to my 2yo son meant repeated trips to A&E, a paeds burns unit, consultants etc. Aside from a bus fare to Chelsea it cost nothing. Even his pescriptions for some special dressing would have cost close to ?100 bought over-the-counter and again cost nothing. I've never before been so grateful for such a service. Now, when I feel glum every pay day as I lose a third of my income I only curse the damned student loan company and not the tax man. Amazon UK use British roads to transport their goods. They use British educated workers to man their warehouses. They use British councils to collect their rubbish. British power stations to power their machines. The British postal service to deliver their trinkets. They can pay tax in Luxembourg without qualm once those issues are resovled. Until then they should pay up like (nearly) everyone else. If you want books - buy from one of the number of bookshops locally. None have business addresses in Grevenmacher.
  24. Oh don't be so po-faced Loz. He's not done a Fabricant has he?
