  1. Damn - cross post...Ribbitt in response to JL's post. Thanks for that Waynetta...my parents did not have a TV while I lived with them...I had not heard of that programme. I might even google it now.
  2. Ribbitt!
  3. The buses?
  4. Yes HB - on the plane to Poland. Unfortunately, we didn't speak but I was well chuffed to receive a beautiful smile from lead singer Brinsley Forde as he got up to go to the loo! Their tune Warrior Charge is one of my all time favourites!

  8. 1. A friend of mine used to be Jenny Agutter's housekeeper. 2. Have sat either next to (or very close to) Sandy Gall on a plane 3 times. 3. Have sat right behind Felicity Kendal at the theatre. 4. Bumped into Heather Mills in John Lewis. 5. Bumped into Susan Hampshire at a theatre bar. 6. Sat next to Aswad at Warsaw Airport, and then sat behind them on plane.
  9. Of course, sorry Chair.:-$
  10. DC, I would be very interested in hearing your views on the book. I have come across some of its content (much of which I completely agree with BTW) via various lectures/articles etc., though I have never read the book itself. You might be interested in this website.
  11. LOL!!! MitchK, dear Comrade, you never cease to raise a laugh out of me (whether that is your intention or not)! Anyway, I have now also ordered you a smart new hat to match your recently acquired T-shirt. So now that you are suitably attired, I wonder if you would do me the honour of joining me in a little sing-song. *stands up and clears throat* The people's flag is deepest red, It shrouded oft our martyred dead, And ere their limbs grew stiff and cold, Their hearts' blood dyed its every fold. Then raise the scarlet standard high. (chorus) Within its shade we live and die, Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer, We'll keep the red flag flying here. Look round, the Frenchman loves its blaze, The sturdy German chants its praise, In Moscow's vaults its hymns were sung Chicago swells the surging throng. It waved above our infant might, When all ahead seemed dark as night; It witnessed many a deed and vow, We must not change its colour now. It well recalls the triumphs past, It gives the hope of peace at last; The banner bright, the symbol plain, Of human right and human gain. It suits today the weak and base, Whose minds are fixed on pelf and place To cringe before the rich man's frown, And haul the sacred emblem down. With head uncovered swear we all To bear it onward till we fall; Come dungeons dark or gallows grim, This song shall be our parting hymn.
  12. Daizie, I'm so, so sorry my comments appeared sarcastic (and - don't argue - they have to some...I have been told). I was GENUINELY jesting though...I have a shocking sense of humour. I am also highly naive - as you know. So massive apologies for unintentionally hurting your feelings. And, just for the record, had it not been for you bringing all that booze, we would have run out LONG before we actually did. Next time, we'll have to organise ourselves better...there was waaaaaay too much food this time around...I am still horribly bloated and look 6 months' pregnant. But it was a lovely, lovely day with the finest of company. Absolutely perfect! Big hugs and xxx to you Daizie.
  13. I too like the sounds which emanate from the ground...happy, happy sounds. Which, in turn, make ME feel happy. Indeed, I hope to be part of the noise pollution tomorrow when DH play Fulham!!
