  1. you're right - winerack in the window is scandalous. Can't say i like anything in the picture but they have a velvet sofa that would make my life complete (if it was a tenth of the price).
  2. it must be the most mind numbing job though so it must be hard to concentrate/not fall asleep (which i have done oocassionally at my desk). I like the funny ones who speak over the tannoy and say what they're thinking rather than what they're meant to say. They also don't get to work 9-5.30 so I'm glad they get 40k, I wouldn't want their job.
  3. i thought i posted this in the wanted/offered bit, sorry if this is the wrong place or maybe i've been moved. Sorry admin
  4. http://www.habitat.co.uk/fcp/content/WhatsNew-Whats_on/content I love habitat but it's soo expensive so 20% off is at least something! I have zero spare money so i'm not going but I hope at least someone benefits from it.

You should get it for your collection.
  6. Safer to walk home than it is in many places in London, but none of London or anywhere is 'safe'. I'm also in my 20's and I do it unless I was drunk and it occured to me that I would be an easy target. good luck with the move
  7. That sign is genius, they couldn't have made a better one if they tried! Which is the best indian in ED then?
  8. That's awful, poor thing and I'm glad he's ok. Where did it happen? Thanks for letting us know.
  9. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8049808.stm well making us queue obviously works
  10. Happy birthday ladygooner. Eat lots of cake
  11. I thought it was because people who can't sell or don't want to until the market picks up are renting their houses out instead. Rents down about 6% ish (can't remember exact figure) on last year everywhere I think.
  12. Doh! I'm too trusting.
  13. I'm not really goig to convert it to a stove, it's far too small (yes Victorian), I could just about cook one marshmallow at a time on it, I think i'd either get that extra flu thing that Ted Max suggested or just use smokeless coal which is probably the most cost effective option. Skidmarks you are a font of knowledge on the affects of different types of smoke and it's good to know that for breaking the law by using wood that justice would prevail in the form of deteriorated lime mortar. Thank you for your advice.
  14. I have concluded that smokeless coal exists. Google is invaluable. Maybe I shall convert the fire into a stove so I can use wood Bob.
  15. i just don't know what to believe anymore. HB and Ted Max I wish I didn't find your jokes funny but i did!

Oh I see, I did not make the connection, i'm sorry for jumping to conclusions. I didn't want to admit it in my last post but I love Diagnosis Murder and I also wish I could be at home watching DickVD up to his usual shinanigans. Thank you skidmarks, I had never heard of smokeless coal, sounds like a great idea.
  17. Sorry HB if my post is that boring, I just didn't know that's all. Thank you Ted Max, you are most informative.
  18. I was told the other day that you can't use your fireplaces if you live in London. The person pointed out that you never see smoke coming out of the chimneys in London and I said i'd never noticed smoke coming out of any household chimney anywhere because i've neve looked for it and generally people don't look up. Is he right or is it complete nonsense? I tried googling but couldn't find anything. PS I apolagise if this should have been in the wanted advice section instead of the lounge, i couldn't decided which was best.
  19. you also need to weigh up if your sanity, not just your wallet, would be better off if you rented or bought. I'm in the process of buying my first flat and it is definitely the most stressful time of my life so far and despite not being a cryer I seem to be in tears at least every other day. I think i've just been unlucky because everything keeps going wrong but renting is generally (in my opinion) less stressful. I think buy if you want to (if you can afford) but there's nothing wrong with renting.

  21. They might be a bit embarassed to be with their parents in Torquay/Newquay but that's true of everywhere I suppose. Maybe you should ask them for suggestions because you don't want a grumpy teenager on holiday.
  22. Mine was Dexy's Midnight Runners, Come On Eileen - amazing. Hoo ra day or is it doo ra day?
  23. my goodness i never knew barbers sometimes trim nose and ear hair - i think those places are a bit personal. How do they approach such subjects? When I went to the dentist last time I was told I was a prime candidate for teeth whitening, with such good quality teeth (that obviously aren't white enough!) Do they do it in a similar fashion? What would you like today sir, short back and sides and I see you have such brilliant excess hair sprouting from various orifices, you are a prime candidate for an orifice trim.
