  1. My colleagues 4 year old was taken for an eye test last week and when asked what colour the red car was she said blue. Her mum and the optician looked at eachother worryingly then said are you sure to which the child repplied "only joking". Brilliant
  2. thanks leaglebeagle, i never knew that. I went a bit bleach crazy on the fist and second day so it's all spotless now so too late to claim for cleaners.
  3. You're right Jeremy. Bob that is craziness. My mates previous owner took up all the wood flooring and didn't tell them he was going to! They're are some real weirdos/cheap skates out there. House moving alsways has been and always will be a funny business.
  4. that wine bottle has put right off my custard creme
  5. a lovely vintage thin layer of poo then. i'm sure there's a market for loo patina on ebay.
  6. not yet, but maybe i should add a vintage, but working toilet to my list!
  7. think i should just add that i know a lot worse happens in the world, i just needed a moan so I can get over it
  8. when i first saw that on the bbc this morning i didn't know there was going to be a picture and nearly vommed on my keyboard
  9. Hello, i need to have a quick winge because no-one at my office talks so i will explode if i don't get my annouyance out. We got the keys to our new flat on friday and discovered the only toilet was broken. Everytime we'd been to look round the water had been partially turned off so we'd never tested it (which I know I should have done). We had to have a plumber round on moving day and luckily he explained how we could use it by lots of faffing round with the cistern and stuff and he's put in a new part for us yesterday but now we need another new part (not his fault he's a great plumber). The plumber says in his opinion there's no way the previous owners did't know it was broken, which they deny. It's the principle of the thing that annoys me, if they'd just let us know at least we could have arranged for a plumber in advance etc. We were also left with various bits of crap around the flat including a tube of prescription thrush cream and a mushroom (possibly, can't be sure) that had been in the fridge for at least 5 months as the flat was empty for that long! I feel better now, thanks
  10. Oh my goodness that is awful i just can't understand how these people can sleep at night. That is so great that the cheque was cancelled but she must be feeling very upset and angry.
  11. can you actually smell the poo on his hands? Maybe he just dunks them under the water and shakes and think that'll do. Maybe leave some kind of household hygiene comedy book next to the loo for him to read next time he uses the facilities.
  12. If it was me (god knows how i still have a boyfriend) i would make a point of going past the toilet and going cor that stinks i'm going to open the window the say i hope you washed your hands after that one. Maybe that's not the best approach but you need to something about the window opening and the hand washing asap otherwise it will consume your relationship. I shared a flat with a man who only pooed and showered once a week (he was a stinky hippy) and his routine was to do his massive smelly shit then have a really hot steamy shower to accentuate the smell and it made me want to hurl but he just laughed anytime any of us told him his routine stank the house out. I also live with a flatmate who wees all over the floor and the walls somehow but i'm too embarassed to say anything about it despite having to walk on it.
  13. thanks Andystar. the thought of oxford circus rush hour in the afternoon is far too horrible but i will investigate your suggestion. I'm going to miss my gentle yet firm shuving of snap happy tourists to get them out the way when i attempt to walk through Piccadilly circus so witnessing your growling is very appealing to me.

I work in bond street and have just moved to ED (nearest station also ED) and plan to get the train to London bridge then ram myself onto the jubilee line. Can anyone think of a better alternative? In the afternoon i'll sometimes walk to charing cross but realistically i'm too lazy to walk it every morning. thanks in advance
  15. ?55.30 for east dulwich to london terminals monthly season ticket - that's what it says on the southern webiste anyway. It's ?1.60 each way on oyster within zone 1 for the tube (that's what i need to do) so for me it's cheaper to get a travelcard but for some it works out cheaper doing it with oyster pay-as-you go.
  16. Here are my answers: > > Have you ever thought about growing food at home? Yes I tried last year but we only had a tiny patch of concrete at the front of our flat that got no sun so nothing lived! > What would get you started to grow your own? A sunny space however small. We just moved 3 days ago and have a garden so are planning a big veggie patch. A guide/leaflet on the basics of veggie growing would help me because i know nothing about gardening so am quite scared everything will die. > What's holding you back? Time and fear. As soon as we've cleared out all the thousands of weeds then we'll get started and I think i'm so scared i might even make some kind of veggie planting spreadsheet to keep track of what i need to do so when it all dies I will no I tried my hardest. I think I will probably get emotionally attached to my veggies and give them names and be very upset if any dies/killed by anmals (which i know they quite often do). > Why would or wouldn't it work for you to grow some > food at home? Am slightly put off by having no transport to go buy things like buying bags of soil etc. and did it last time by getting a bus then walking for ages (when i lived in greenwich) and it nearly killed me. I know i could order online and that there are more garden centres close by in East Dulwich but it still feels like it will be a pain in the bum to get the stuff i need. I think i'll just have to not be stingy for once and get a taxi if i have lots of stuff. > What's your experience if you are growing food at > home? What got you started? sort of N/A because haven't started yet but will. What will get me started is the excitment of being able to eat something I have grown and looked after. Also hopefully it will be cheaper. I quite want to grow things like aubagines because they're so excpensive in the shops. > What general implications do you feel growing food > holds/would hold for you? Fun and pottering around and slightly grubby fun. > If you have young kids, would you try and explain > food to them by growing some (or have already done > so)? N/A but if i did i think it would be a great way to teach children about healthy eating and how to care for something. Good luck! Sophie
  17. Cor that is so scary especially with a baby in the house. I'm glad you're all ok and thanks for letting us know.
  18. I had my bike nicked from inside a church in New Cross a few years ago. It really does make you more careful with your possessions. Just remember nice people outweigh scum so the world is not entirely bad.
  19. I am ashamed to say I don't really get what the European election is. I'm hiding under my desk now
