  1. oh well, must be true then
  2. what were those prawn cocktail flavour crisps shaped like little shells? Fit perfectly on the tip of the tongue and tingled crazily for a minute before melting into the mouth. I like them, can't remember what they're called.
  3. "in a year from now LL will have more boarded up shops than a town in South Yorkshire." Just to pick up on that point - I really hope LL doesn't end up with boarded up shops like it was in the early 90's. I much prefer it the way it is now, with nice shops selling nice things. Yes some of the things are expensive nay, even overpriced but which would we rather hsve? Tumbleweed?

I never said I liked her or her utopia, my comment regarding the weight of the new world was tongue in cheek. I was picking up on your assumption of her political persuasion, which is irrelevant. I know it was a joke though so I'm not getting worked up about it. I liked last night's one although the little vignette with the 2 hard geezers that the doctor dispatched was a little pointless. I suppose it was to reinforce the strength of the group. Max is a beast isn't he?
  5. I did the boat, it was great.

she's got the weight of the new world on her shoulders
  7. OMG I went to Adventure bar on Saturday - I had to leave after one. MOR Rock music (Bon Jovi and Elton John* to name 2 artists) played at such a volume conversation was impossible and lots of over-excited 20 somethings. Nice Margherita but not as strong as the one I then had in Licorish. sorry - off topic. New bar eh? Just what we need\!! * I do like some EJ but not what Adventure bar was playing

I think the knee-jerk reaction was more an indication of her mental instability under pressure rather than her political leanings
  9. maybe they are trying to encourage the still plenty of people who don't bother to recycle.
  10. "all the non-veggies always want some too." That's always the problem when there are two options on the table, the effing meat-eaters scran all the veggie option too, and obviously the veggie's can't retaliate. I've done a couple of Burn's nights with a meat and a veggie haggis (I know I know, it's not really haggis but damn tasty) and the veggie one gets scoffed by the meat eaters. as we say in our gaff "oo, can we have a bit of the veggie?" the answer - NO FECK OFF

  12. long way to go for 4/5 days. For that length of time you'd be better going to the Canaries or Morocco IMO. I've been to Dubai but it was about 12 years ago and I think it is quite different now so I can't really comment.

  14. Maybe they are geared up to present a passable Sunday roast but the meals we had last Saturday were dire. Starter: Waldorf salad with pear and leaves, so not in fact a Waldorf salad, had no pear in evidence. Scampi - rock hard pellets Main: Fishcakes - much like the scampi, same colour breadcrumbs (bright orange) and also rock hard. Lamb Stew - school dinners Battered haddock and chips was a small portion with far too much batter. The wine was brought to the table already opened. They'd run out of candles, the fire was not stoked up. Other minor irritations. I'm sorry Allfornun, I know it's Nunhead and you want to stick up for it and it looks like several of the East Dulwich folk have tried to support it also but mediocre it is.
  15. Yes, I went there last Saturday night and had a dismal evening. Food mediocre to awful, restaurant empty, waitress nice but dim. After reading the rave reviews on here I was sorely disappointed and won't be going back. Shame.

Did anyone watch this last night? I thought it was quite good, if a little unbelievable at times. I remember being traumatised by the series as a child in the seventies (the rabies episode stands out) and wonder how many of the plot lines this series will borrow from the original. Don't know if they are merely nodding to the original or recreating it. I intend to traumatise my eldest by letting him watch it.

    Strictly Purism

He's not that entertaining though, I find the ones who can dance and are improving more entertaining. I suspect it's his parter who most people like to look at! the lovely, shiny Christina.
