  1. I would think that maximising distribution would mean not minimising target audience by labelling them as above. However when I accused Charlie of being an whatever it was I said, I was being slightly tongue in cheek. BUT saying things like that is an example of the invidious/insidious (not sure which) reinforcing of stereotypes.
  2. I think he means as share price is going down investment will be harder to get, liquidity will become an issue and as rents etc rise on LL GBK will be pushed out. Or summing like that.
  3. Er, excuse me but I am female and I thought Love Actually and for that matter, Notting Hill were both big piles of utter crap. Charlie, I don't agree with your assertion. I understand where you are coming from but it just reinforces baseless assupmtions. EDIT: what Cassius said (to use a Keefism)
  4. what constitutes upsetting? most people without children don't realise that tantrums are a developmental stage and are difficult to avoid - not a reflection on poor parenting skills. (Obviously if a child is still having them at say, 8 it is a bit different). I certainly would not appreciate any comments if my 3 year old was having a tantrum in a supermarket.
  5. why do you assume it is 'a boys [sic] film'? That is rather stereotypically mysoginistically chauvinist of you. I suppose girls just like soppy films about boyfriends? I happened to read a review of this the other day and thought 'that sounds good must see it' not ' oh gosh gruesome violence must steer clear'.

    Breadmakers

Just to bring things back from the brink. I got a bread maker a few months ago and have not bought a loaf since. There you go Alan. I am not especially frugal, not undiscerning, not a numpty, however I am stubborn.

    Gordon Brown

Agree with Blinder and Jah EDIT: and Rosie, a few of my girlfriends say they fancy him too. You are not alone.
  8. Not free on Fridays any more as far as I know. It used to be. It was the first public art gallery in England I believe.
  9. It is full of kids at most times. I like it, waiters are nice and the food as someone else said, is as good as any other PE if not better. All PEs are noisy, the sound resounds off the marble tables something awful.
  10. How many pubs have you been in that have kids in at 11pm? I fear that may be somewhat of an exaggeration. I sometimes go to the pub with my kids of an afternoon but have rarely stayed beyond 5pm. I also went on the bus with them as babies and I most certainly would not have got off if one of them was crying, what a ridiculous suggestion. Perhaps persons could carry around a set of earplugs and when forced to share the same airspace as a crying child - insert them. As has been said before, some people think children are being badly behaved if they merely raise their voices. I think it is perfectly reasonable to have to share social spaces with children and there are plenty of places to go without children around. Sometimes children are a lot better company than the obnoxious and badly behaved adults that frequent pubs in the evenings.

  24. People who take offence at the way other people speak! If you are Scottish it is quite normal to say 'how' instead of 'why' and also 'can I get' instead of 'please may I have'.
