  1. It?s the first test match of the season. Of course it?s bloody raining.
  2. Ok bon3r I?ll indulge you. Here?s one of my pet annoyances: Fucking motorcars man! They CAN be built properly and simply so that they rarely break down and when they do any pillock with 2 brain cells and a spanner can fix them. The concept hasn?t changed in 100 years. Chassis, body, internal combustion engine, gearbox, drive shaft, steering column, braking and suspension systems. But no they have to fill them up with pointless fiddly bits that are built to wear out in 5 ? 10 years. 70 years ago Germany came up with the Beetle, a car that is practical, indestructible, easy to drive and fix, a 50 year old one will get you from the Cape to Cairo without much hassle and it is still stylish. Why can?t they do it now?
  3. True but to be honest the Bishop, EDT and Black Cherry have always been crap on a Friday or Saturday night so it doesn?t make a lot of difference to where those of us who live here go in the evening. It does add to the drunken debris we have to negotiate on Saturday mornings though. It would be interesting to know if places like the CPT, Drum, Uplands are seeing an increase in business as LL gets busier on the weekends.
  4. Tis true Snorky but can you blame them considering what the rest of SE London has to offer. So the rest of us retreat from LL to the backstreet boozers. (Well personally I have always favoured them)
  5. Sheesh I didn?t realise growing tomatoes (or is that tomatoes I?m never sure) was so complicated. I chucked some old spuds in the garden last year and I now have what looks like it is going to be a half decent potato crop.
  6. When I was a boy we had a lump of coal and a stick. There are few domestic tasks which cannot be tackled with one, the other or both. While a bit rudimentary they had no moving parts and were practically indestructible.
  7. Well there was David Carnell and I and then a few lads I know from SA who are out here (something to do with a guy called Kolpak or summat) and who said they would make up numbers if we are short on Sunday.
  8. Listen it only takes an hour or so to fine tune this machine. On Sunday I expect to get at least half of the balls I bowl on the pitch. Just you wait and see.
  9. Health and Safety Goons?!?! Don?t tell me those bastards have recruited Sellers and Milligan to do their information videos.
  10. What, near Brighton?
  11. You know I?ve been looking on tinternet and it seems that whoever put the idea in my head that there were nets in Dulwich Park was lying. Unless anyone out there can tell me different? Anyone? Anyone? Anyway we can just use your stumps. . Why don?t we just meet at the gate on Court Lane.
  12. Dulwich park. I've heard tell that there are nets there but don't know where they are. Do you have pads? I have a bat a ball and some gloves. If the rain holds off that is.
  13. Anyway I'm still going down the park tonight to see if I can get a ball down a pitch. If anyone wants to stand there while I fail to bowl anywhere within their reach let me know.
  14. Leon Leon Leon, that?s the worst bit of sledging I?ve ever heard.
  15. North Dulwich? Never heard of it myself.
  16. Guys, nice as the idea may be they will be a dead giveaway if someone looks over your shoulder at work. The clean look is less conspicuous.
  17. I?m with you Tillie. It is my favourite pub but, Yuk! The purple was horrible and this green is just wrong. Although it could be worse, it could have been yellow like the Mag.
  18. I don't think most of us own whites. I've recruited us another player by the way.
  19. I propose settling it with a bare-knuckle boxing tournament. Now you just have to decide where to host the tournament. Just leave me out of it though. Switzerland man, Switzerland.

Sorry Moos I didn?t realise at first but when I was on the train this evening something in my mind put 2 and 2 together and I though, oh yeah the film Educating Rita and then I remembered the scene where she describes assonance as getting the rhyme wrong and I got what you were on about. Only about 2 hours too late. :-S

  22. Lords smords. Surely you mean the cricket at Wandsworth Michael. Anyway I?m neutral on this one. I?m like Switzerland man.
