oops! sorry noticed answer to this on ask admin thread. Apologies.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but how do you insert a photo onto a post? Bit more immediate than making people open a file.

Apparantly, the Cheese Block, and the owner were involved in a sketch on HH's TV Burp last night. Didn't see it myself.

I really liked the photo stories and top tips. (I'm such a housewife).

Take a bow Mr Carnell!

I know what you mean, and you are right, but my wee friend Mark is getting in such a state about this, and he is not hearing my explanation, which i will summarise as "that's the difference between multiplication and addition". I am contemplating starting a thread about shoes though. That is probably quite boring but in a different direction.

Thanks for that BN5 - HOWEVER the question is really about why do perimeters remain the same, even if areas increase.

Nice one Jimbob you transported me back to the old country there. Fair play.

Hi All, Can someone help me explain this to my Mathematically challenged friend? The only thing I have been able to come up with by way of explanation is that this is the difference between addition and multiplication. Email from my friend: My maths abilities are beginning to concern me a bit. There is quite a bit of maths in the PGCE. Lk was trying to explain to me how perimeters work the other day. She can't understand where this is a problem for me. So do you get this? Here is what is going on in my head. Supposing I took leave of my senses and wanted to lay a patio. I went out and bought the tiles for the floor area and fencing panels to contain it. The patio was 6 metres by 12 metres. That is an area of 72 metres. That requires 36 metres of fencing. But, wife doesn't like the shape. She wants a bigger patio and that one is 8 metres by 10. That is an area of 80 metres. I have to go out and buy more tiles because the area is bigger. Yet amazingly it doesn't require more fencing to contain it. That does not make sense. It is a bigger area. It takes up more space. To contain it should require more fencing. Yet it doesn't. My brain cannot understand how this can possibly be the case. So even though C devised the handbag strap demonstration it still makes no sense. It is like witnessing an optical illusion.

Why don't you just get some of those Trinny and Susannah pull you in knickers, and maybe a new dress?

We watched the latest episode, but were rather disappointed. Very beautifully photographed*, but lacking in characerisation we felt. * Although some bits seemed annoyingly reminiscent of car ads

East Dulwich to the O2 arena

I took the train/tube option in the end, which was very easy and nice. I took a black cab home in a moment of profligacy and was horrified when it cost ?25!! -
East Dulwich to the O2 arena
wee quinnie replied to wee quinnie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks everyone. Prior to asking you, I went onto the O2 website to try and find out what the transport links were like - and was not very enlightened. Then I tried TFL which gave me the train/tube option - but I thought that it'd be possibly better to get a bus to Lewisham then another bus to Greenwich - it is possible, but looks likely to take forever. Thanks again. -
Hi All Can anyone suggest the quickest/easiest way of getting to the O2 arena by public transport?

Huzzah! Actually, I can sort of see were he is coming from. I seem to remember Woolies being on the verge of bankruptcy about 20 years or more - and they just seemed to re-vamp themselves etc., That was back in the days when they sold seemingly EVERYTHING. I seem to remember reading that they did an audit and found something like 4 miles of green sewing cotton.

David, I agree with most of what you say - however, the business with lancing the bulls neck is quite a longish process and is not followed that swiftly by plunging the sword in. You're deffo completely spot on with the hypocrisy of people going all gooey eyed over donkeys/dogs etc., but not seeming to give a stuff about the origins of the meat on their plate.
-
They stick a bloody great lance right through its neck. I'd call that torture.

However, the actual killing of the bull bit doesn't happen until after the bull has been tortured and stuff for a good while. Have to give the people a show, apparently.
-
It IS barbaric. All that stuff were they kind of piss the bull off and stick a big spear thing through its neck are just bloody torture. Bad bad bad

I am really bored with people talking about 1. "Mini mes" and 2. People paraphrasing Mrs Merton along the lines of "So what attracted young woman to aging multi millionaire wrinkly" type remarks. There are a few more - I'll have to get back to you on them. The 2 above are really bugging me to distraction, though.

I had a very nice brownie from the new cake lady outside The Cheese Block last week - the downside is she is only there on a Saturday. She also does a first class coffee slice. It must be said - although there ED does seem to have a cut throat fancy cake industry - there is a lot of so-so cake out there. And I should know - I pride myself on eating a lot of cake!

Hiya Jimbob - I didn't rate TD at the start, but he has really grown on me over the last couple of months - I had the same thing with Mil Millington, (although his other half was the real star of the show there imo).
