  1. Karter...is there something in the pipeline?
  2. Pam I had a hideous experience with Myer last year and would NEVER use them again...but thank you for trying to help me out.
  3. Thanks everyone - really appreciate your ideas.
  4. I have just found out that it is Mr WQ's niece's 21st bday this week. I think at this stage we are past last posting dates for Australia...so can anyone make any suggestions as to what to get her?
  5. Jah Lush Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > would a > veggie/vegan go to the trouble of cooking a > separate meat dish for you? I very much doubt it. I don't want to get into the usual annoying debate that recurs so frequently on here....but whether or not a veggie/vegan is prepared to cook a meat dish for a non-veggie guest is more likely to depend upon what their reasons are for choosing to be a veggie/vegan. If it was all down to the easy option, I'm sure we'd all stick to the meat eating. Sorry. Realise I am going off topic here.
  6. There is so much more to this shop than veggies - they have great Persian sweeties, CDs homewares and other assorted stuff. It's a great place.
  7. With regard to receiving a card on 1st Dec.... Possibly the sender has a few cards to send to far flung overseas destinations and figured, well I might as well do the lot at one sitting.
  8. steveo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > That's wrong This is something you hear very very often when you tell people you've given up drinking. Saying "I don't want a drink", seems to have become something of a no no. It's a bit disconcerting. It's like you've become a very awkward/fussy guest.
  9. I have found the service in there quite variable. Some of the people who work in there are unfailingly very courteous and friendly (the young guy), but others...can be little offhand.
  10. This preoccupation with whether or not Hitler was a vegetarian is meaningless.

If people think these threads are tiresome, why keep them alive by responding? I agree with some of T's points but not all of them - yet the vilification that he is subjected to on these boards, seems....bizarre.
  12. Otta - tbh I think you'd be better off doing this after Xmas - since everyone is too skint/too post-Xmasy for going out etc., Why not Mid Jan for 28 days?

What about foods labelled "wheat free"?!
  14. To all the people saying "Why don't they just go away and do something useful?" - in all seriousness, what sort of thing do you think they should be doing? The problem with protest, is that usually, in order for protesters to raise consciousness, get on TV/in the papers - there has to be a HUGE presence OR there has to be some element of "protesters" engaging in acts of civil disorder. Furthermore, when there is a large gothy-looking contingent...it does seem to alienate middle England.

I am not that bothered about where they leave my bin, but without fail they do seem to dump my blue box onto my plants....was wondering this very morning how I could prevent them fron doing this!
  16. Er...isn't that subjective? I think Hisar is sh!te but eveyrone else on here seems to think it is marvellous. I am not that keen on anywhere in the Lane. If I had to go anywhere localish for foodieness....my preferred option would be Ganapati. Anyway, apologies realise I am going off topic here. BTW - the reason for posting this thread was that I had an invite, but wasn't that keen after looking at the menu.
  17. I hadn't noticed them either until they were pointed out on here. I am completely with civilservant on this one.
  18. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I do think what was proposed at the Bishop was > worse... > > What WAS proposed at the Bishop??
  19. Could be worse ..... could be.... .....(Gasp)... THE BLUE BINS!!!
  20. What sort of compost bin are you composting in? I have never had a problem with foxes in ours - it is one of those big plastic green round things. I had a problme with rats at one point, but not since i stopped putting egg shells in.
  21. I know i am slightly going off topic here ON MY OWN THREAD - but what a gorgeous webpage that is Nette - I do like the look of Cardinal Basil.
  22. Alan - I love cabbage - a veg hated by many due to horrible school cabbage. But cooked by the capable...fantastic!
  23. We are considering buying a greenhouse, but neither of us has ever had one before....has anyone got any suggestions as to where might be a good place to buy one from? I realse that they are sold by Argos etc., and would not dismiss getting one from them....but we have absolutely no idea whether or not this is sensible, given that we know v little about them. Any words of wisdom gratefully received. Many thanks
  24. I agree with DrinkingBuddy. As for the notion that blue bins are destroying the visual environment - are they worse than cars (the colour is irrelevant), parked everywhere??
