  1. Ah, this is sad. I will miss Nisha - she is such a lovely lady.
  2. Sorry Sue - the remark about the cars was (and I admit this could have been clearer) was more of a reaction to Senor Chevalier's comment; "I'm all for recycling, but it does look terrible > having anomolous plastic lumps in otherwise > charming victorian streets"
  3. Hi all, Has anyone got any ideas where to buy FSC certified bark chips for a reasonable price? I am looking for a suppier who delivers. I bought some from Dulwich GC on Friday - but they are a bit on the prucey side. )In the region of 8 quid something for a 75 L bag). B and Q is about half the price - but they don't deliver, and I haven't got a car! Any advice?
  4. If you don't want the blue wheely bin, you can continue to use the existing blue box, and if that is not sufficient for your needs, you can request a second. As for making your roads/terrace unsightly....funny no one ever mentions about all of the cars parked along the streets looking unsightly.... Just sayin'...
  5. I had to google lollycake - it does look good (as does the e and b pie). HOwever, (possible sacrilege coming up), lolly cake sounds a bit like.........fifteens http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/fifteens/detail.aspx
  6. This has been bugging me for a few days now - what is a bacon and egg pie? Is it like a quiche type thing? Or we talking something more along the lines of a pastie tyoe arrangement? ETA - Sorry to take the thread slightly off topic.
  7. Hi all - I was actually getting this done for some conveyancing work - to be done in Wales. In the end, I went to the bank and they did it FREE!
  8. Hi all I need to get certified proof of identity for me, my OH and another person. This would involve me rocking up to a high street bank manager/an accountant/ a regulated financial adviser/a solicitor/licensed conveyancer. Can anyone suggest who is likely to be the cheapest - and how much it is likely to cost?
  9. Laszlo. This is because of my resemblance to the Hungarian Pulli dog

Yes - we have a sign up saying "no menus or flyers" please, and it definitely reduces the amount of junk that comes through, but it doesn't stop it entirely. However, as Sue mentioned - if there was some info about a street party...I'd definitely want to receive that.
  11. The Peckham Rye one doesn't exist anymore....it is now a clothes collection point for Mind charity.
  12. Thanks WOD - much obliged!
  13. Hi All - apologies if this is in the wrong section of the forum, but not sure where it should be placed... My next door neighbour has mooted selling off a bit of her garden to us at chez quinnie. I realise that we would have to instruct land registry, but am unsure about other costs. Is this something that would necessiate instructing a solicitor (for us and neighbour), or is their work something we could do ourselves? Can anyone give me any indication of how much money (other than actual land price) might be involved?? Thanks people.

  15. porridge with dried apricots soaked in whisky. mmm
  16. Of course they should be put out of their misery. The idea that we should curtsey to the Queen is repulsive. Really p!isses me off. Yes and the whole lack of democracy aspect and all the other reasons that are usually cited. But it is this idea that we should bow to them that really irks.
  17. done!

I am really surprised that you liked it. Currently i am reading The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins.

One of Mr WQ's workmates who is black thinks it is racist. I don't know what the full line of his argument is, but part of his argument (if thats the right word), is, "Can you imagine Jewish mouse? Or Muslim mouse?" I haven't seen it, so I've no opinion.
  20. What about sprinting to the sofa?
  21. Quinoa - pronounced "Keen-wa" is not related to couscous etc - and happily can be eaten by people who are allergic to wheat and or have a gluten intolerance. It originated in South America, and is highly nutritious, and is that rare thing....a non-meat complete protein source. Very nice to have with salad on top for lunch.
  22. Wow - that's great - Congratulations.
  23. Libvaries are fabilis! Dulwich Lib is generally quite good for a chilled out read - however I do find that when I am looking for books - they are more likely to be "on loan" from Dulwich than the other branches. I still love it though.
  24. I was under the impression that it was illegal to sell non eco friendly lightbulbs these days, however, I was in Dulwich DIY yesterday and asked for 2 x 60 watt lightbulbs, expecting that they would give me the energy equivalent version. When I got home, I did indedd discover, that they had given me EXACTLY what i had asked for....
