Next Forum Drinks - Friday 1st October at The Actress

Recommended Posts

Axeman, you're totally entitled to that opinion, and you're not alone in thinking that the drinks are a bit sad. However, there was really no need to be nasty about it, especially to Georgia who is being helpful and nice. Basically you've just come across as a bit of a c**t.

I don?t get the idea that this forum is ?supposed? (who makes these rules anyway) to be anonymous. It is a local forum for a residential area in London*. How can it be anonymous? There are plenty of boards online which are not a tool to speak to your next door neighbours and therefore pretty anonymous but why should anyone feel that they need a place to vent things to their neighbours anonymously?

Anyway the forum drinks are always a blast. Although admittedly I haven?t been to one in quite literally years but I?ve met more genuinely nice people through them than you can safely shake a stick at.

* And certain areas of Surrey.

I totally agree with you Brendan. And it's because it's a predominently local forum that it is such a gerat place to advertise local events and find local people/ make new friends that one has something in common with. Of course not everyone will get along with everyone else, that's a normal part of life but why anyone would criticise Georgia for organising something that is well attended and clearly enjoyed by those that attend it is mystifying.

True, Narnia, however it is quite a small one and I tend to use it only when the need arises.

Realatively new to This Forum. Not been to any of the Forum Drink Ups as they

are held on a Friday and I take my 84 year old Mother shopping every Saturday meaning

I cannot drink too much the night before.

I have met Only one forum member, a neighbour, at the opening of the Actress.

We had a really good chat dispite having very different opinions on certain topics

here at EDF.

I am sure many people who are already friends or have made friends here do not all share the same opinion.

No point in a forum where everyone agrees with everything and everyone,

This is a place for sharing opinions on local issues.

People who are well aquainted with each other will Jest from time to time.

I do not know people well enough to do so.

Axeman, It would seem there is no place for you here at EDF with your intimate insults

of people you don't know that well. Think yourself lucky the Mods. have not banned you.

I say

An actress, had experience with a few of those, lovely girls the lot of them, does this one like champagne too ?

Must be honset old chap, actresses and not brilliant at the old conversation but always pleasing on the eye.

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
    • That was one that the BBC seem to have lost track of.  But they do still have quite a few. These are some in their 60s archive. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0028zp6
