Trains and other transport running this morning? [The TravelWatch in the Snow Official thread]

National Rail site is useful.

Its not. You get crazy things like 'No Report' Then look at train progress and see it is canceled at some stations and not at others. Bonkers.

It is usually useful - when there isnt a problem

Came in this morning, roads were pretty clear and even DKH not proving difficult for the buses. But there didn't seem to be that many buses coming through, and because there are no trains, the ones that did make it were full to the brim and not letting more passengers on. Still, had a lovely stroll up through Burgess Park, hopped on a 363 the other side to LB and then walked up to Liverpool Street, stopping off for a Taylor St coffee on the way. All in, took around an hour and a half but much more pleasant than the normal scrum on the trains!

As Barry mentioned in the station manager thread, there are services tomorrow from ED and Peckham Rye. A London Bridge to London Bridge circular via Forest Hill and Crystal Palace running every 30 mins.

In addition, Southern will run 4tph from Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park to London Bridge, 2 of those will go to East Croydon in the opposite direction, with the other going to LB via Crystal Palace.

I've seen a northbound train at 11.44, and a southbound one at 11.55, which was in accord with the NR live departures page (though that was a bit slow in upddating the latter from 5 min late to 10 min late). It's currently, in its window to 13.45, showing departures at 14/15 and 44/45 min past the thour, all 'On time'.
  • 2 weeks later...

LL at a standstill southbound (up the hill towards the library). Crawling northbound (towards Goose Green). Have just seen a 176 going to TCR if that helps.

Got off a 12 which did go all the way to Dulwich Library about half an hour ago but Barry Road was slow-moving and slippy.

Had to abandon a trip to DKH Sainsburys after getting stuck in traffic by Heber Road.

12 and 197 are running normally. P13 is diverted along Lordship Lane and not running along Waverley or Underhill Road.

    • A lot of this is down to why the high street came into being in the first place  consumer demand  And now times has changed and consumers behave differently.  And businesses adapt to that.  It’s a bottom up approach as opposed to something imposed upon us.   It’s not to my tastes. But what do people expect to happen.  Jazzer is on to something when he says boycott Amazon - but the reality is even many who boycott Amazon choose other or more ethical alternatives. But still online  going into town for “a shop” just isn’t what people do anymore  Yeah but that’s not a real comparison. And “for ill” glosses over a lot of wrong as well  but we live in 2025 now and any of us oldies who think when we were 20 was the best time ever, a time we should go back to are just pining for our youths  there is no country in the world that can turn back the clock.  So in 2025, where is the closest vision of somewhere you would like.  Because if you look globally you don’t just get capitalism.  You can choose dictatorships or communism too
    • Kramer is great, met her a couple of times.  Told her the story of when she ran for Mayor and didn't attend a community event as she didn't want to spoil Ken (Livingstone)'s love in.  Amused me and her no doubt
