I used to live in ED over a year ago and got buses from that stop every day. Most weeks a new cutting went up - usually a patriotic, nationalist, boardering-on-racist rant detailing some crime or other committed by immigrants or anyone who looked foreign (though probably as British as the person writing the rant). I always used to tear them down.... He/she obviously hasn't given up!
I've had a look at those, not close up though. But the cuttings all focus on how gun crime and lawlessness is taking over London. Then there's a yellow sheet attached to it, presumably which has the info about who put up all the clippings. As I don't get off at that bus stop, I've not felt the need to investigate further!

I had a brief look at them yesterday (it's been torn down already) and it seemed to be the ravings of a Daily Mail reader, aka ignorant fascist! (Though the ED Forum isn't the place for political agendas I'm sure!). There were some stories about guncrime, but it seemed to have more about immigration and how "those damned foreigners are ruining our country" etc etc.

I did think it quite a good idea though and even though it was uneducated and banal, it was something different to read in the morning for a change.

I remember encountering a rather odd chap, middle-aged, bald and bearded, on New Oxford Street who was distributing photocopies of a tightly-typed document he had apparently written detailing how wrong it was of the authorities to object to the fact that he was attracted to women oriental origin and naming the various forms of harassment he had experienced from the authorities that had caused the break-up of his marriage to one such lady. The rambling, repetitive, incoherent style made it quite clear that he was mentally disordered but, let me tell you, if I had half his passion about anything as he had about his particular bug-bear, I would set the world alight.

    • The problem with the first Southwark leadership election is that two proxy votes were cast, which is against Southwark's own party rules. So that is why the election was re-run. The controversy is in switching to an online as opposed to in person second election. James has causes he vehemently stands for, and it's fair enough if he thinks the local Labour Party is no longer for him. Government is not easy, and there are hard decisions to be made always. London councils have always had a better deal when it comes to central funding, and anyone who travels to the North frequently can see the stark difference. It's that failure to see the bigger picture that I find most surprising about his comments. Sure, as a local councillor he should be always arguing for local needs, but reform of central government funding to give more help to poorer regions has been a long held aim by this Labour Party, and especially since Brexit, where poorer regions benefitting from EU grants lost out.  As always, it will be the public that decides at the ballot box.

    • Why not get a real poodle.  They can be clipped to look like a cockapoo if you like.  They don’t need to be in a show clip.  They don’t shed.    Both breeds would need regular grooming.  I have/had friends with very charming poodles both medium and standard so see if you can make the acquaintance of some.
