Is that supposed to be funny?

Pearson, my comment was aimed at all my baseless, selective detractors. And I don't have a "bow fetish", either. I just can't be bothered with all the fuss and police intrusions that come with owning a firearm in this country.

Aquarius moon, I don't have a "sick hobby". You're predictable sticking your fingers in your ears and falling back on a popular rebuttal without offering a reasoned reply. Sucks to be you.

Annette Curtain, what I can only assume is your husband must be very proud of himself to have shot a Coyote. He is exactly the sort of pathetic, cowardly parasite that gives conscietious hunters a bad name. Or did he do the animal justice and eat it?

Captain Scarlet, I don't hunt bears. They're are a protected species in the countries where I hunt with a bow. And whenever I hunt, I do so in a way that gives the beast I'm stalking a sporting chance of survival. Many of my quarry have escaped my stomach.

Hunting with both a bow and a crossbow is illegal in the UK. I never said/wrote that I take large game in the UK with either. I quite clearly stated that I go abroad. But yes, hunting with a dog of whatever breed is illegal in the UK - I don't support it, as I've made quite clear throughout this thread.

I have a firearms license and I own a shotgun for the record.

So, what fuss and police intrusion do you speak of.

Fairly straight forward procedure to go through.

Also, how would you know if you don't have a license?

Just asking.

Pearson, a shotgun license is a fairly straight-forward proceedure. A full-bore license, however, is not. To be deemed responsible enough to own a full-bore weapon you must submit yourself to a gradual and arduous progression through calibers increasing in size. This proceedure also requires mentoring. The police also scrutinise any weapons you keep your property, and how they are secured. They do this every six months, so I'm told. I prefer a bow or a crossbow because it's more in tune with nature and it is less demanding in a legal sense.

I know all of this because I've asked. There's no conspiracy on my part, however which way you go about implying it.

Oh, and to counter the argument that bow hunting is inhumane. Studies have found that using a kill head competently will not result in the beast suffering more harm than if it was taken with a gun. Besides, there are many variables to contend with on both weapons to reach an absolute comparison. And to quell any suspicion that I attached an image of a kill head to cause friction, this is what is legally not permisable when taking large game, across the EU and North America. It is what's used in target and field archery. It's called a pile or bullet head:

I've already replied. You only see it as unreasonable, because you don't agree.

I see any form of hunting as cruelty, whether it is fox hunting, shooting, or using a crossbow.

Hare coarsing, badger baiting, dog fighting etc. etc.

I am against all of it.

Animals have a right to live on this planet, the same as us, without having to suffer the fear & pain inflicted on them

by humans, just to give the perpetrator a cheap thrill.

Are you telling me that the deer you hunt, do not feel anything, when you stalk, then shoot them with your 'high tec'

bow & arrow?

It is illegal here because it is cruel.

Animals are living creatures, not just pieces of meat, put on this planet to be abused for your enjoyment.

And I am not a hypocrite. I practise what I preach, so I hope your earlier post was not referring to me.

Aquarius moon, I don't feel any sorrow or remorse when I stalk and cleanly kill a deer. I see it as prey. And even if I were to, unintentionally, cause my quarry suffering with a bad shot, I'd probably just feel frustrated. But I would swiftly cut its throat or drive a blade under the base of its skull, so as to not prolong any undue agony.

It would seem that we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

No, you illiterate cretin. I'm defending my position, and by doing so, explaining mine and others' methods to offer a wider understanding to those who aren't familiar. But tell me something, Tarot. Are you and Pearson one and the same? I ask because you both display a suspiciously similar incompetence when it comes to typing.

Boy am I glad that U.K gun laws exist.

I can see "Guns & Ammo" all neat & orderly on a bedside cabinet.

Scribe, you "illiterate cretin", are you an Annette actually two sides of a split personality?

Scribe I really don't understand why you're being so aggressive on this thread. I'm sure you knew a thread like this would be quite contentious?

I know you're being judged and whether this is fair or not it is a public forum that you've posted on and people will have theit opinions. I'm also not saying you're the only one being aggresive but given that you started the thread maybe a touch of diplomacy wouldn't go amiss?

Apart from anything else I don't really understand the thread. It's not a discussion more that you wanted fellow hunters to contact you so maybe it should really go in the wanted thread. If it had the admin might have asked people who wanted to debate the subject to start a thread in the lounge. Just a thought.

Zeban, I'm not being aggressive, I'm being tenacious. I simply initiated a thread that cordially invited other hunters to discuss and swap details. It was then hi-jacked, and I defended my position with equal measure. I admit that I've perhaps over-stepped the mark once or twice, but I felt it necessary to stave-off what I perceived as aggressive, group harrassment, engaged in inflammatory supposition. You'll also notice that I haven't on any occasion used bad language or issued threats against my detractors. Overall, I've remained quite calm.

    • Oh now you're coming over all defensive. What happened to the nice Sue, because since the early part of the year your approach seems to have changed and you've become much more challenging. No you have not broken any rules and even if you had why would I involve Admin, that's a ludicrous thing to say.  Take care Sue.
    • I was the opposite of you. I never felt particularly happy around Brixton late at night - I didn't know it that well. Do you remember the name of the late- night Irish pub opposite the railway arches near the BR station? Was it Mulligan's? Brannigan's? To be fair, until the East London Line extension, Rye Lane walking south wasn't a favourite of mine after dark either. The only pub left on there was The Hope, which was in the other direction. It felt very bleak. I think that makes a huge difference. When The Gowlett was boarded up, Adys Road felt very different. It's like a beacon now. Pub violence does seem to have had its day in inner London. Maybe it's a result of the disappearance of pool tables, flat-roofed pubs and cheap Stella offers. I bet you could still find a Saturday night kick-up in New Addington or the  Becontree estate in Dagenham. Definitely. Pubs next to stations, kebab shops and ironically named nightclubs are all to be avoided in smaller places. The weirdest place I've ever had random trouble was in a club in St. Ives in Cambridgeshire.  I think it was called 'Options'. It was the only club there.  See also 'Jekylls' nightclub in Hyde, Manchester - a truly dreadful place where getting thrown out for fighting was infinitely preferable to spending the evening in there and coming out stinking of stale chip fat. I took a kicking in 'Kingsway Kebabs' in Swansea after a night in 'The Aviary' (so named because it was 'full of birds') nightclub. But that wasn't so random. It was a local girl, who gave me a leathering because I'd run off for a large chicken doner, rather than dance with her to 'Criticize' by Alexander O'Neal. Sorry, Sue, I've digressed a little.  To answer your question, I think London feels relatively safe overall.
    • I’m happy to report that I got a much earlier prescription review than the 22 September.  Not sure what that was down to but I was sent a text to say to expect a telephone call on a certain day and time for earlier this week.  It was with a pharmacist and not a doctor.  I was later told to expect a telephone call on call on both the 19 and 23 September.  They are really pushing the boat out. Not complaining. Also, Dr. Shivji is back working.
    • "Firing"? "Demanding"? A "habit on here of 'demanding' answers"?  Crikey. I didn't say you "should" do anything! This is a forum.  For discussion. I will say whatever I like and ask whatever I like,  within the forum rules, as can anybody else  Please move your issues with me to the thread I have started in the lounge on feeling safe in London, because this is a thread about a burglary in Lacon Road. If you continue to post your complaints about me on this thread, I shall not respond, so do feel free. Or if you think I have broken any forum rules, do feel free to report me to admin.
