> Great - what're the details of the next round?

We are away to Arlesey Town in the 2nd qualifying round, who play in the Southern League Premier. Match to be played on Saturday 22nd September.

N.B. We had a home league game scheduled for 22/9 which is now postponed. The next home game is now Folkestone on Saturday 6th October.

"I can't read and I can't write but it don't really matter, I come down from Arlesey town driving on my trac'or"

How funny me too.

Didn't they win the FA vase with a one armed striker?

I seem to recall there were more Arlsey fans at wembely that day than there were people in Arlesy.

So, Weegee, bad enough that you deserted Hamlet, but now your crummy has-been of a team are into poaching our players - including our solid midfielder Duku. Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffttttttttt...

BTW you missed a cracking game today...Oztumer scored an "out of this world" goal. He is going to give your lot a real run for their money on New Year's Day... :)) .

UP THE HAMLET!

Today's game was incredible. Playing against the league leaders, the first half was tight and Folkestone had the edge. But the second half, with the diminutive Oztumer (genuinely) playing like a Ryman Messi, was fabulous. Oztumer's first goal was the best goal you've ever seen. Then the fecker, all five foot three of him (amidst a huge Invicta) makes monkies of the south coasters, scores a pen and leaves the field to a tumultuous standing ovation from the 400 crowd. The Hamlet were awesome. Get your arses down there.

A quick update for anyone who hasn't kept up with Hamlet's fortunes this season...

- We still sit third in the league, a point off the top two of Maidstone and Hythe Town

- The midfield magician Erhun Oztumer has scored 12 goals in 15 games and is making his name as one of the finest players to turn out for Hamlet (in recent years anyway)

- We have a brand new website which now makes it easy for you to find upcoming fixtures and get yourself down to Champion Hill!

I love Oztumer too. He is quite incredible and an absolute joy to watch. So much skill there...I'm betting it won't be long before someone poaches him. Talentspotters were at the previous game and were eyeing him very closely...old fashioned pens and notebooks and all.

The DH reserves lost tonight. :(

GET IN THERE HAMLET!

What in the name of Jesus, Mary and Joseph was the ref. doing today at the Eastbourne match? Anyone else attend? Shocking refereeing (in my not so humble opinion). He appeared to lose control of the game on several occasions. As for that penalty, the lack of yellow cards and those fights...TERRIBLE!

Still, we won. :)

GET IN THERE HAMLET!

Time for my regular DHFC propaganda post...

Hamlet have won SEVEN games in a row and now sit four points clear at the top of the table. New Year's Day sees the eagerly awaited return of the local derby against Tooting & Mitcham, at Champion Hill.

It's a 3pm kick-off and we're expecting a crowd of about 1,000 so it should be a cracking atmosphere - and hopefully another three points for The Hamlet.

Entry is ?9 for adults, ?4 for concessions, and as usual under 12's are FREE if accompanied by a paying adult.

    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
    • I like the look of SD's Sweet and Sour chicken. It's a really good dish when made freshly and well. I'll need to try it. Sad that Oriental Star and Lucky House by Dulwich Library both closed at a similarish time. They were decent, reliable, "British Chinese" takeaways.
    • William S Spicer was a family-owned firm that initially made horse drawn delivery carts for breweries (especially Fullers Brewery in W London) and horse-drawn trams. With the advent of the internal combustion engine, they successfully made the transition to coachbuilding delivery vehicles London's leading department stores using German engines. WW2 interrupted their business for obvious reasons, and their postwar attempt to become the local assembler and distributor of Bulgarian "Izmama" trucks was not blessed with good fortune. In 1953, the company pivoted to being a full-service garage, leveraging their reputation for honesty and excellence.  In 1972, the Dulwich site was sold to its present owners. William S Spicer III (the grandson of the founder) retired to Lancashire, where he founded a sanctuary for the endangered ineptia beetle, which he had encountered in Bulgaria while travelling for business. In 1978, Spicer was awarded an OBE for conservation, and a newly-discovered  beetle was named after him by the Bulgarian People's National Academy of Sciences - Byturus Spicerius.
