One od Rafa's greatest moves, removing thr most vile managers in the game from the league.

I wondered if you might bite! :)) Not that great a move though surely, as Liverpool still lost their final!

SimonM you are Neil Warnock and I claim my ?20 (sorry SP!)

Seem to remember Warnock playing an understrength Shef Utd team against Utd @ OT and then complaining when Fergie played a 'weakened' team against West Ham, can't have it both ways.

No I am not Colin - who now lives in Beckenham you know! - merely a long-suffering Blades supporter. We did not play an a particularlly understrength side against Man Utd - certainly not Paddy Kenny + 10 reserves in the Wolves style - and the Man Utd side that played West Ham lookied pretty strong to me and should have won it. In any case I was not trying to rip a scab off an old wound, merely pointing out that what McCarthy did was nothing special, and not likely to get punished. But all the same I hope Burnley thrash Wolves at the weekend, for the same reason Colin wanted Liverpool to lose their European final - poetic justice!

Warnock's feud with Liverpool goes back to losing the League Cup semi final to Liverpool in 2003 when he claimed Stephane Henchoz gobbed in his face instead of shaking his hand at the final whistle.

Reason Sheffield United went down was not because Liverpool played a weakened team at Fulham, or Man U played a weakened team against West Ham or because West Ham had done a dodgy deal over Tevez it was because they had a shite manager in charge. It's not rocket science.

I see Wenger is hitting out at the fixture list, not the fact that his team have had two poor games on the trot.

Burnley have had some good results this season, in fact I was talking to a Hammer this morning who was bemoaning that very fact. They got three points off us and one off Arsenal you know.

Two poor games and 4 points no losses, beat Pool who Mancs lost against as they did against Burnley. I rest my case.

Wenger is showing too many signs of wear and tear to make me comfortable. His comments about Wolves are wrong too

Still, annoying as it is to lose ground on the leaders, I would have taken 4 points from the last two fixtures if you had asked me a week ago so I won't get too upset just yet

Whatever Wenger thinks of McCarthy doesn't matter. McCarthy did what he thought was best for his club which may or may not be the right thing. Wenger as do others always plays 2nd strings in the League Cup and probably the FA Cup too when it suits. Is his reasoning for that, because it not worth winning? You can be sure that McCarthy wants to stay in the Premiership and for some teams it's like finding a way to climb Everest. He may have gone in the wrong direction but only time will tell. Last season Hull only survived because of their pre Christmas form. If Wolves stuff Burnley at the week-end then McC will consider it a job well done. If they don't then that's another matter. Man U made 5 changes from their last match. Why is that ok?

Zero hrs contracts must be tough not knowing where or when the next work is coming from.  My position might not be great, but with a bit of sensible weekly shopping, stocking up on best buys etc. one survives and life ain't that bad.
    • I'm trying to find a venue for my daughter's 18th but it's really difficult. Most venues don't want 18th birthday parties. We were looking at Brockwell Hall (The newly refurbed big ol' house in the park) but they want 4.5k for a night which has to finish at 11pm. My daughter tells me her friends don't go out till 11 which I think may be an exageration but I get her point. I'm looking for a bar/club type venue where I can have a DJ till 1/2am and that's about it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    • “Fair points, not arguing with you on them” This outbreak of civility between us is beginning to worry me ! im approaching pension age soon enough myself and im sorry to hear your position isn’t great.  But current pensions are not the result of  any 1 year government (they literally couldn’t be) but decades of priorities across multiple govts and voter priorities  21k won’t get your fat these days as a worker. Transport and other costs before they even get to accommodation. And they will work hard for that then you have the grey economy and zero hour contracts where people earn far less than that  again - your position doesn’t sound great but that’s no reason to deny a new generation  Me and jazzer at next forum drinks  https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2025/mar/28/dining-across-the-divide-i-see-the-welfare-state-as-bloated-corrupt
