Charlotte, myself and my friend Neil watch many of the United games at the Marquis of Granby in New Cross. It's not very glamorous but they are friendly and there's usually a good mixture of supporters in there. I watched the 2008 Champions League final in there and even the Millwall boys were supporting us....can't think why?

Good to hear!

Do any of you meet up for a bit of a kick-a-bout, especially now the weather is nice? I try to play but I am shocking at tackling and generally end up kicking someone (accidently of course!).

My fianc? however is pretty good and I'm hoping that when he finally finds a job and moves down here, he can join in on some games locally if that happens at all.

Mr. Lush is correct. Check out the What's On section. You may even get to meet the "other" Charlotte (Uni player, blonde, eye-liner!).;-) Come and join us. I am utter crap: my speciality is scoring own goals, being offside, being issued yellow cards and being sent off! Have now 2 red cards to my name LOL! We already have 2 United fans in the team. I am trying to persuade Jenayr to join too. If you and Jenayr joined, that would be FOUR United fans! Woo hoo...

PS Charlotte: there is a small posse of us who also support Dulwich Hamlets FC. Let me know if you fancy going to any of those games, and I'll stick you on our PM list. I watch around 99% of home games. Jenayr and I are getting a season ticket next year - grand cost ?60. Bargain or what!

Brilliant(tu)

BTW, you won't need the gym once you start playing...means more money for drinks in the pub! Win Win!B)

Congratulations to Raul Meireles for getting the PFA Fans Player of the season award, and Scott Parker the Football Writers' award (and of course Bale last w/e the PFA Players award). But I do wonder with so much still at stake this time of season why these awards cannot be voted for at end of season rather than months beforehand!

    • This is simply untrue. The area is not 2/3 storeys maximum. Hambledon Court is on the other side of tracks from the Jewson site on Burrow Rd, is 8 storeys, and is barely known (let alone bothersome) to most people in East Dulwich. Felbridge House, Petworth House etc on the opposite side of the station from the new development are all 5 storeys tall. East Dulwich Charter (which neighbours the new development) is itself 4-5 storeys (depending on which block you're talking about). What's more, Hambledon Court was finished in about 1978 iirc and no-one has built anything similar around here since then - so the "slippery slope" "genie in the bottle" argument doesn't work either. You can't simultaneously argue that Southwark is too slow in approving new construction but also suggest this will lead to a flood of new high-rise housing! At current rates of approval, we can expect our next 8 storey building to arrive in...2072!
    • I checked - the Hanway Street place was Mandeer - it moved to New Oxford Street I think and was replaced by Hakkasan - very different prices.
    • Suppose it depends on how many Christmas cards from family and friends you’re waiting to receive. It’s been the Christmas period so surely give the post delivery service some leeway. Like Sue I’ve not posted off so many this year but some I still write letters to  e.g my late mum’s cousins and other family  but hey ho that’s something I do and enjoy.  I used to hand deliver Christmas cards to a lot of neighbours on my street but gave up this year as realised that most of them I don’t see or speak to and can only count on a few to call a true friend or neighbour.
