MrBen
Indeed. Genius early playing. I interviewed him once for a student rag when he had a brief mid 90's comeback. Lovely guy but also a sombre lesson in why not to drop acid with the Grateful Dead. Bless him. taper
Not sure it's the best, but Michael Schenker's in UFO's Strangers in the Night version of Lights Out is pretty good. Otta
I've never been a huge fan, but Brian May has played some lovely solos over the years. He has a good ear for melody, and it shows in his solos. Can't stand it when it's all about "shredding" mega fast and tapping all over the shop just to show that you can. (I probably say this because I'm rubbish at it) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25997-best-ever-guitar-solos/#findComment-582189 Share on other sites

maxxi
Agree with Otta - has to be one from my childhood - Brian May's solo on Brighton Rock. I know he's done it to death since (and that he appears to have become a knob), that he relies on echo-tricks too much and that it's all a bit prog-rock at times (well it was 1974) but I saw them live back then and the first incarnation of this solo live was memorable. That and any of the mini-solos by Wilko Johnson either Dr Feelgood (Back In The Night) or after.
