Didn't anyone see me in Peckham last Saturday with Sean Berry? We didn't get any press tho.

It's true that you have 2 votes for mayor so if the person you vote for 1st time doesn't get in, they go out and your second vote is counted. So you could vote Green and if Ms Berry doesn't get in, the second vote would be the one that counts.

Plus don't forget you have the Assembly Members to vote for. You get the constituency ones and then you get to vote for the list. So it's three elections in one go so you can give the Greens loads of votes and still keep Boris out if you want to.

I hesitate to flag this up (in case you all try it and decide that BJ is actually your soulmate - I'm supporting Ken) but this is meant to help you make your mind up:

Votematch London '08

Do also be aware that, if the BNP get over 5% of the vote they get a GLA Member, so do at least bother to vote in the London-wide section and be part of the 95.0000000001% required to keep them out by voting for any other party. (Well almost any - some of the others look well dodgy too).

Agreed, dc. I've voted previously where my vote goes to someone that I'm not entirely happy with, but it's helps to make sure someone highly undesirable doesn't win.

So while my personal allegience is to Ken, a vote for anyone other Johnson or Barnbrook will win you my gratitude ;-)

(actually, add Craig to the list of no-no's: anti muslim expression, pro family (= anti gay)... nut-job dressed as a Sunday-School teacher...)

I included everyone in my results, and they surprise me... Green at the top is no real surprise, but Boris number 3 shocks me, and as much as I dislike Ken, having UKIP above him just plain worries me!

I don't really think much of these sites though, I was putting "Neither" for a lot of them because the statements are far too cut and dry.

I am glad to see BNP firmly at the bottom though!

Si?n Berry (Green Party): 19

Unity for Peace and Socialism: 18

Boris Johnson (Conservatives): 17

Lindsey German (Left List): 16

RESPECT Renewal: 16

Alan Craig (Christian Peoples Alliance / Christian Party): 15

Gerrard Batten (UKIP): 14

Ken Livingstone (Labour): 14

Matt O'Connor (English Democrats): 14

Abolish the Congestion Charge: 13

Brian Paddick (Liberal Democrats): 11

One London: 10

Winston Mckenzie: 10

Richard Barnbrook (BNP): 8

I read that election booklet that came through the letterbox, jaysus that was frightening, I still find it hard to believe that people think like that. BNP was first, seriously crazy, then that english party who had no policies just ranted on about the scottish! I was a bit raging that the BNP had some Irish supporters, those dimwits mustnt realise that 20 years ago BNP wouldve beaten up someone Irish as soon as anyone else not from here. They also had the cheek to slag off economic immigrants, well what are you then love? Any Irish here including myself are economic immigrants. Hyprocritical to the nth degree.

(the field I work in in the NHS couldnt be offered if it weren't for economic immigrants I want to add before anyone tells me to bugger off home! heheh)

Not quite. It will only go to second votes if *no* candidate gets 50%. Now while the likelihood of nobody getting 50% is high, there's no guarantee.

And if one candidate gets 50%, all second votes just go in the bin.

Ken is also literally drunk most of time, according to city hall mates.

Yay! So am I ...now I know who to vote for!

The budget that Ken sets and which is raised as a precept via Council Tax for Londoners is divided as follows:

82% on the police service

13% on the fire service

5% on transport and the GLA

0% on the London Development Agency

The remainder (0%) is obviously 'profligate spending' !!

Tessa Jowell MP

I'm sorely tempted not to vote for any of them, but I'll put something down just to keep the BNP out. Votematch reckons I should vote Ken/Lab. Not sure how much I agree...

edit: ...just spotted that votematch has Boris down as the second-worst choice for me, with the BNP being the worst. Ha!

    • I’m not a Gail’s fan but there’s no reason a business shouldn’t open on Christmas Day. However, nobody should be compelled to work the day which, given the widespread coverage of Gail’s questionable employment practices, has to be a possibility here.  The only business I ever use on the 25th is maybe a pub and that’s a rarity these days but buses running would be very welcome for visiting etc. But the swings in the park should definitely remain chained up. Are parks even open on Christmas Day?
    • To be honest, pal, it's not good being a fan of a local business and then not go there. One on hand, the barber shop literally next door to Romeo Jones started serving coffee. The Crown and Greyhound and Rocca serve coffee. Redemption Coffee opened up not far away, and then also Megan's next door to that. DVillage was serving coffee (but wasn't very popular), as was Au Ciel (which is). Maybe also Heritage Cheese, I don't know. There's also Flotsam and Jetsam doing coffee and sandwiches at Dulwich Picture Gallery in the other direction. The whole of Dulwich Village serves coffee. And yet on the other hand, there are enough punters to support all good coffee shops. With the exception of Rocca and Megan's (which are both big spaces) and C&G (which does coffee like everything else - slow and with bad service), all these places regularly get queues out the door. Gail's often has big queues and yet very few people crossed the street to Romeo Jones (which was much better)... Half the staff at Gail's are perfectly fine and efficient. The other half are pretty offhand and rude. It's certainly not welcoming or friendly service. But they're certainly hard working, and no doubt raking the money in for Luke Johnson...
    • Well according to a newspaper article, Gail’s is opening 10 shops in London,,, yup Dulwich is named 10/5 I seem to recall with others in London opening at 7 am…!, Guess that is to capture workers coming off all night shift. Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. Will be around in Jan…umm village is changing….
    • interesting the police said "the car was in demand at the moment" what make/model is that?
