I can't stand that smug, self righteous tw@t!!!! He genuinely reminds me of Clarkson!!!

Fair enough, some of the people I've seen him interview have been talking nonsense, but his way of doing things seems to be along the lines of "if you disagree with me, you're wrong".....

Hope I'm not thinking of the wrong person here, and sure he's had worse criticism if he reads this....

You got the right person Keef. Here's an excerpt from an article he wrote last year in The Times about life in his new home in East Dulwich:

"Everyone living down my road who isn?t a baby or a mum is a semi-famous lesbian comedian who occasionally crops up on Radio 4, being gently arch about something.....Where on earth can I be? I?ll tell you where: London metropolitan suburbia. Dulwich, to be precise, a place which makes Crouch End resemble Compton on a bad day. Its very name is a giveaway, pronounced Dull Itch...But how Lordship Lane has changed! All those lovely food shops and bars and restaurants: if we can get rid of Somerfield and Iceland and Cafe Nero, we will truly be back in 1950 ? which was a much better place to be, by all accounts, except for the Korean war and the tail end of rationing, and rickets and polio. Right now we have a butcher, a few bakers, a candlestick-maker, boiled-sweet shops and a strange outlet that sells only white things. It?s like living in Trumpton."

hahahaha.

I dunno - thought it was quite funny myself. He doesn't impinge on my life much, so I don't really know much about the guy, but it strikes me that just because he wrote it, it doesn't necessarily follow that he thinks it himself. Or thinks it to that extent and with that particular slant. Perhaps he's writing in a persona, for an effect, whatever.

    • So when will we find out? Is it going to be a big reveal on some specified day? If not, why can't you tell us now?! (I'm presuming you mean the new boss of Franklins. It would be too much to hope for that the Palmerston had a miraculous return to one of its better past incarnations. Never mind the food, they could bring back the lovely quirky painted column things of over twenty (?) years ago, and remove the hideous "art" that has sadly been installed. I feel really sorry for the staff, because it can't be just my partner and I who rarely go there any more. I suppose the only hope is that it does so badly that it changes hands again and that the new hands have better taste. Sorry, all off topic.)
    • I would hope that is extremely unlikely. If people accidentally vote for someone, that's their own fault, isn't it?
    • Bumpkin I’d say feed and clean.    The RSPB say garden birds are low risk for avian flu but take precautions and clean feeders and birdbaths regularly.    Birds will be starting to nest soon and food you put out can at least feed the parents so they can feed live food to the young who can’t take seed yet.    It’s reccomended to wear gloves and clean feeders/birdbaths with mild disinfectant weekly.
