Can you actually have varied and interesting vegetarian and gluten free food?

Obviously yes. Considering the thousands of different kinds of fruit, vegetables, dairy and non-animal products in the world. You'll also have the benefit of being healthier and probably living longer... but forgive me, I digress.

Just because so many chefs' imaginations run no further than a mushroom risottos or goat's cheese tart.

Yes we totally agree!!!

We have seen every single idea you have posted and there a quite a few that we like.

Over the next few days we will be talking about it and will hopefully have a name confirmed by the end of the week.

Really grateful of everyone's response.

Kind regards

Hazle and Alex

And the menu? Veg & GF?

Fayre = evokes the local, celebratory

Imbibe -- sort of the same, but with booze

small animals and flowers also work -- the Red Squirrel? Alliums -- starts with an a, from the garlic and onion family...Poppy, just cause I like them.

Or choose a local weed that people like to eat & seem to be willing to pay a fortune for(vs. smoke, though who knows?) -- Horse Radish ;)

    • Ah sorry, it was comedy.
    • I have never used AI in my life. It's just notes from my forthcoming monograph on light industry in Dulwich and Camberwell 1879-1946 (dates chosen for obvious reasons).
    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
