noisy birds

No this isn't a post about the tables outside th Bishop....

Has anyone else noticed the really noisy birds this morning - going on since dawn - crows I think...?

Yes! My sister and I back onto the Camberwell old cemetary and they are so noisy! There is one in particular - I think he is out to get me....

Is this a reference to the current news story about the pooled group intelligence of crows and ravens that are now attacking and eating the juicier parts of medium-sized mammals?

I also back onto the old cemetary. I got up this morning at 6am for a bathroom visit and the whole house was filled with the sound of chirruping. Didn't hear any crows though.

Yes, noticed that today on Peckham Rye - it's the parakeets mainly, but there's a blackbird that going mad in my back garden, probably protecting a nest or scaring the cats.

I'm on nights this weekend and went outside into the ambulance bay just after 4am and I have to say the dawn chorus was lovely. After a night tending to the injuries of bank holiday drinkers it was quite uplifting.

I can appreciate it's annoying being woken on you day off, but there are far worse sounds to be woken by surely?

Be careful what you wish for. I would swap the blackbirds and parakeets for the rooster at the Horniman Museum in a heartbeat. Current start time 4:30/5am.

5am dawn chorus woke me up this morning too. Louder than ever.

If it is a mating call, then the poor bugger really needs some action. He has been at it for ages now!

I have to say, though, sitting outside just a min ago with a coffee, it is so peaceful. I use to live on East Dulwich Road and that was really noisy!

I've lived on Bethnal Green Road (noisiest flat in the world), by the railway tracks in Bow (thundering express trains), on Lewisham Way (non-stop sirens), and just off Lavender Hill (sirens, yobs, drunks and scooters). I love hearing nothing but birds and the occasional City Airport plane now.

Bloody townies coming to our village and COMPLAINING because of the birds tweating, the foxes copulating and the Peckhamites shooting each other. That's what its like in the countryside - bloody noisy. Bugger off back to the city if you want peace and quiet.
