Thanks, hadn't realised it was only one stop from St P to Cally Road, don't know how long it would take me to get to Herne Hill tho (Is the 37 a reasonable service in the mornings?)

I live just off North Cross Road. Usually travel by bus and usually via E&C !! I think I'll have to try every option and see which is the best overall.

My bike is still on a farm in Herefordshire where I once lived - I think the farmers have probably appropriated it,and anyway if you saw me on it you would realise why I am never never never going to cycle in London (danger to self and others :)) )

So I've ended up in Highbury... an hour and a quarter... train to London Bridge, tube to Kings Cross, tube to Arsenal, ten minutes walk.

Mmmmm, I worked in Hackney for two years prior to that and that was equally torturous ....

I am seriously contemplating whether I should rent for a year North of the river.... though it would break my heart to leave ED - Arsenal Angel just doesn't suit me the way Bellenden Belle does.

Work in Canary Wharf....

Usually catch the P4 on Honor Oak Park Road to Lewisham and then get DLR to CW. Door to door takes about an hour....with 20 mins of it usually spent waiting for the P4:X

Still prefer that to getting the Tube from London Bridge as journey is generally less stressful. Can't stand being squashed on tube!

The Canary Wharf commute has been a topic of much conversation in the past... generally takes me about 35-40 mins using the train to London Bridge. I used to drive in for the occasional 6:30 start, and that would take about 25-30 mins. I've no idea how you could do it in 25 mins at any more civilised hour.

White City - have done the commute for 15 years now (although used to live in Lewisham). Fortunately I now get parking tickets at work so I can experience traffic hell instead of public transport hell! And my 2 year old can accompany me to my workplace nursery - may as well initiate her to commuting early in life!!

Live on the edge of the Rye and work in Vauxhall, home to mongey Gay clubbers everywhere.

Try to walk to work most days, up over the hill and down Camberwell Grove and along the main road. A relaxing walk. Unless I'm hungover, when I retreat to the bendy cattle-truck.

Marylebone

8.15 from ED to London Bridge, then Jubilee line to Bond street.

at least an hour which is pretty crappy and at that time the train and tube are fairly horrible. Any suggestions for alternative routes much appreciated. I've only just started new job and I'm restricted to leaving around 8ish due to childcare arrangements. Oh and I don't cycle.

Prominent Jewish figures around the world are calling on the United Nations and world leaders to impose sanctions on Israel over what they describe as “unconscionable” actions amounting to genocide in Gaza. Over 450 signatories, including former Israeli officials, Oscar winners, authors and intellectuals have signed an open letter demanding accountability over Israel’s conduct in Gaza, the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. The letter’s release comes as EU leaders meet in Brussels on Thursday amid reports they plan to shelve proposals for sanctions over human rights violations. “We have not forgotten that so many of the laws, charters, and conventions established to safeguard and protect all human life were created in response to the Holocaust,” the signatories write. “Those safeguards have been relentlessly violated by Israel.” ..."   There is also a petition we can sign to support them in their call for justice: Direct link: https://secure.avaaz.org/campaign/en/stand_with_jews_demand_action_loc_cp1/?tUwBCsb&v=502713833&cl=22394973010&_checksum=7dc99acb5dd4fc5a43a24e21772f51005ea239753e9ae3033d9f79ffd6119559 "For the first time since the ceasefire, a powerful coalition of Jewish voices have come together, urging world leaders to keep the pressure up until real accountability and freedom are achieved.Their call can shift the political mood and give leaders courage to act decisively -- Amplify their voices and stand with them: The demands of Global Jewish Voices: To respect and abide by the decisions of the International Court of Justice, noting their application also in the West Bank and East Jerusalem; to apply arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court; and to resist efforts to unduly pressure and influence and prevent the workings of both courts. To refuse any complicity in continued crimes and violations of international law against Palestinians by Israel, including by ending the provision of arms and other relevant goods and services; to use relevant leverage, including targeted sanctions on governmental bodies and individuals responsible for violations of international law, and suspension of relations with commercial entities contributing to these violations. To ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches all Palestinians in Gaza at the scale that is commensurate to their vital need, that the blockade is lifted and materials for reconstruction enter, and that there is a full Israeli military withdrawal. To refute false accusations of antisemitism that abusively deploy our collective history to tarnish those with whom we stand together in the pursuit of peace and justice. If you are of Jewish heritage you can also sign here, and we will add the number of your voices to support the Jewish call for justice. Posted: 22 October 2025"
    • I've actually met Luke Johnson and he's actually a very amicable, witty and extremely clever man. He's also created thousands of jobs and generated millions and millions of pounds of tax revenue for the government, offering goods and hospitality that countless millions of people have enjoyed over the decades. I'm not a fan of Gail's but I'm also not a fan of people who knock down good guys that have contributed a huge amount to this country.  Anyway, French Patisseries and southern hemisphere coffee don't belong on Farmer's markets.
