Hey everyone!

I missed out on the last ones as was away but will be coming along to the next ones. I have a different drinks night on at the Rye that night so will come afterwards.

For info they do rope off areas out the back, there are normally about 40 or 50 of us and we get the marquee area but then all behind that is the back garden area that could totally be reserved for the EDF, that way both of my nights could be integrated and I wouldnt have to travel!!! (selfish I know ;-))

what's this obsession with the Mag, that'll be like the seventh time there. Besides, as far as I can see all that's changed is the colour (thank god!!!) the name (meh) and the addition of the flock 'please no more flock' wallpaper.

Liqourish and Bishop on a Friday night? I can't see how that would work - the noise alone would make the last Mag do seem like a graveyard

(That's not me having a dig at either place btw - but they are just waaay to busy at the weekends IMO)

In his defence, and in the defence of grumpy old married men everywhere, I think it is mainly the flocking wallpaper that has got to him.

Personally I think wallpaper should have race cars on it. Like I had in my room before I got married.

I went, and it's fine. I thought the staff were nice, even quite fancied one of them *gasp*, but it's just, flock flipping wallpaper and low-hanging retro lamps, it's like making a stark chrome and pine bar circa 2001, 10 years after it seemed like a good idea.

OK, flock's only dominated for the last 6 or 7, but come on, at least try something original. Maybe lots of bric-a-brac stuck to the walls and ceiling, it may still be sh!t, but it's almost retro by now n'est ce pas?

As Mrs Mockney can testify, they've plenty of teething troubles, having over-charged us (pence rather than pounds) twice in a row, and one of the barmaids (the cute one as it goes) got a bit snotty at her. But then she pulled a sort of 'do you know who we are, we're from the forum you know' and I was so mortified I had to apologise profusely to the manager.

Long story short, it's nice and enough and I'll be enjoying more pints there, it's just we always seem to go to the Mag. How about the never before visited Fox-on-the-hill or Phoenix or even Oriwisu Spot, huh, HUH?!

    • Well, I know a lot of people in London with pets and I've never heard any of them complain about fireworks.  Maybe what's not ok is keeping timid animals in a metropolis when they are scared of the noises that come with normal city living.
    • We git a ticket when we tried to park there to watch the fireworks.  Anyways we didn't even get a space and so we didn't actually park.  But we got a penalty notice.  We just paid up.  And we won't be taking our car their ever again.  You probably needed a Southwark council visitors permit.  I imagine it would have needed to be booked online B4 or by the end of the day that you parked. Beat thing to do is contact Southwark Council Estate parking to clarify the situation.   I hope your freebie was worth the value of your penalty.
    • I don't think it works like that. It's not like the fireworks are on a regular daily  schedule. And in any case, why should animals be badly frightened on several occasions in order that they "become accustomed" to them? Do you really think that's ok?
    • Surely with pets, the more frequently fireworks are used the more they will be accustomed to them ?
